Here are some more mathoms. These are two of the better elements from two Grenadier releases, “Princess Achmiri” and “Princess Shaaranon”. They were sculpted by ‘the man’ back in 1990. There are more to these sets and one other set that I know of…:cool:April 30, 2008 at 5:51 pm #2054[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/21_more_mathom.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/21_more_mathom.jpg[/imgz]

You mean this one? It came with a little gnome on it, but I was told he wasn’t done by CT, but added by Grenadier. I see these once and a while on eBay. Most people don’t know they’re by Tubb.April 30, 2008 at 10:06 pm #2059I will have to consider about those …. rhuoomm…
May 11, 2008 at 3:19 pm #2188I have seen pics of the nymphs before – but I wonder if there are any other sets like this?
These are 54mm, aren’t they?
Gavin
May 11, 2008 at 3:40 pm #2189There’s a listing of them here:
http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~tpope/sol/grenadier/colossal-lords.htmlApril 5, 2009 at 5:10 pm #4813As I mentionned some weeks ago, I came into possession of the original (still blistered) Fantastic Females 54mm sets from Grenadier… i spent the afternoon taking some goods pictures and scans
You can now find in the Mithril Gallery section of the site, two folders dedicated to “Water Nymph” and “Princess Achmiri”, so far unpainted (I don’t think I’ll paint them for the time being, they are quite very rare and unfindable)
Please, send me your comments if you like them or not…There is a third one in this series… “Princess Shaaranon” (ref 9803) but I did not manage to get my hands on it yet if some of you have any clues or tips to find it.. I’m interested
April 5, 2009 at 10:07 pm #4818nice link, Gavin, I like Cassandra the most . . .
July 12, 2009 at 2:01 pm #6078I managed to finally get the “Princess Shaaranon” on ebay. I should receive it in a week or two, will post pictures of it in the uniques galleries with the other two.
July 12, 2009 at 4:36 pm #6080Congratulations, Gildor !
July 18, 2009 at 1:08 pm #6147Here we go… the pictures of the last Grenadier ‘Fantastic Females of Ancient Worlds” 9803 Princess Shaaranon is on the gallery… all three of them (unpainted but assembled) can be seen… I will soon paint them I think they are REALLY beautiful 54mm females

alas, I am afraid my achmiri suffer from lead rott or something… could an ‘expert’ in such metals or casting could tell me if it is lead rott or just some not important oxydation? (check the pics of the Princess Achmiri to tell me, the knelt knight and the little maiden have no problem, but the main lady has a dark gray color that upsets me)
July 19, 2009 at 11:56 am #6155Only looking at the pic, you can’t really tell if it is lead rott or just oxide. Take a old toothbrush and brush the lady where the colour of the grey is lighter in colour. If you get grey dust of these areas you most likely look at lead rott. You also can try it with a blade. Scribe over the area, if there is no bright colour under the very thin oxidated layer and the top layer comes of like dust, it is lead rott.
Trough experience I can tell you, it is not very likely for the Grenadier models to have lead rott, even the top layer might be dark oxidated. The WORST CASES I only had with minis from GAMES WORKSHOP! The minis got just eaten away and there was nothing I could do.July 19, 2009 at 3:03 pm #6160well I used an electric toothbrush and passed it over and over the figurine … sometimes quite firmly… there was not a single drop of dust… and everything remained the way it is currently… metallic in some part, dark gray in the others… (some dark gray parts left place for brighter metal below on edges… So I suppose it is just oxide and nothing serious at all
(that would pain me.. considering the price I paid for them )
July 19, 2009 at 4:41 pm #6161from what I witness it simply is oxide … so it will not harm the metal of the figures … once you keep from brushing them that thoroughly … those dark grey parts you cannot remove … just leave them where they are … it’s nothing serious, as you said, Gildor … I cannot imagine that this is “lead rott”
July 20, 2009 at 11:43 am #6164Master Theobald is right, it doesn’t look like lead rott. As I mentioned above, not very likely for Grenadier to get lead rott.
In this case I wouldn’t worry anymore. Just enjoy the minis! -
