Well, the photo was blurry, which may or may not have been a clue.

I knew some of them were missing parts, which for me is rarely a problem.

But in the flesh – or metal – these are really bad fakes. Some look salvageable. Some look like casts of conversions – an M21 now with a bow. Not a bad job. alas the bow broke in transit. Others are going to need work to make them worthwhile and about three look like they will go into the metal pan.

      All in all, quite disappointed.

What is it you’re talking about, Gavin?

            This auction here:
            http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=170294826729
            Or:

I’m leaning towards giving him the benefit of the doubt. He may have merely sold them on.

            But they are definitely fakes.

It’s generous to give him the ‘benefit of the doubt’, though he may not have known any better, and may have thought that all Mithrils were naff. If he was a legit collector, on the other hand, he would have known they were fakes from the outset. As the old adage goes, caveat emptor.

He’s not getting feedback, one way or another.

Whatever metal the fakes are cast from is really brittle and they break if you look at them crossways. Methinks they may all just end up in the melting pot.
