Mithril are offering another M16 on ebay – this one appears to have the original sword as it is attached to the base
August 18, 2022 at 12:01 am #49302I am curious to see how high this one will reach as indeed it is a full genuine one this time.
August 24, 2022 at 4:16 pm #49308Well the winning bid was Euro 1,000ย ๐ฎ
August 25, 2022 at 1:32 am #49309You’re right, David. Simply the fact that the sword is still attached to the base proves that it’s original. I can say that it’s a wonderful and rare piece, as I am proud to own one myself. I once bought it from Chris … long time ago.
August 25, 2022 at 9:41 am #49310indeed a rare one though I find it amazing it reached that price, even as rare.
I consider myself very lucky to own 3 M16 of which alasย but only one has absolutly genuine sword as it is doubly attached (base+hand, see below) , but at least the figurine is MIB, and the blister itself is almost new.

August 26, 2022 at 1:16 am #49315I think it won’t reach any amount… I asked Chris about its existence… he went furious complety, I have rarely seen him thi mad… He was not aware at all, and he begins to be mad at Mithril guys who are surfing on the money wave after the big sales of M16….
I may be happy for a M16 sale reaching 1000โฌ because people know it, know it’s rare and well, there may be still hope for people to find other M16 afterwards from other sellers. Here, there is strictly no “hope” at all, no luck, no passion… only “whoever has the biggest purse”, or is the best businessman/prospector around (the worst scenario here…)
Chris has never used this method to sell his prototypes… he was warning about a rarity, fixing a date, fixing a price, and then luck and passion were doing the rest, that was rather fair, as the most passionate collectors are not always the richest (… and mostly… the countrary…. the richest… are not often the most passionate collectors, alas but rather people who will then resell it to make a big margin profit… In this case, Michael dit that himself here, for the account of Prince August as their own prospector…)
Chris will ask for auction removal to Lars and Michael tomorrow…. It is violation of his copyright, as it is a prototype that was never retained, and Chris alons should ba “master” of what he does with his prototypes… Please note that I only wrote to him because I was curious and concerned about the existence of this prototype, as I always do for others when I am in doubt… I did not ask him anything and certainly not to cancel the auction myself, he was mad and went to do it on his own behalf… which makes me in a quite uncomfortable position towards Michael but well…. This is the third time he did that to me (the first one being the very disapointing affair with the ME2 auction years ago…) while he knows I am tracking info or possibility of get pics or sales for unreleased never-seen stuff, as I am more aware than him about the past of Mithril and PA and after all those years, he seems to still look at me as if I was but another collector just happy to buy whatever they feed us, the way they want…ย This is just a greedy method… totally unfair…
I made an entry on facebook, relying Chris sayings, as he asked me to…. Michael and Lars will certainly be mad at me ๐ and surely the figurine will be lost to collectors if removed from auction…
But frankly this has become quite unfair from Mithril to continuously sell whatever they have in spares… as auctions rather than limited rare stock (first come first served) on their official sites as they have always done before… Generating BIG money and shuffling up all rarities and costs artificially is greedy and unfair… they’d rather focus on releasing new stuff… rather than suck dry collectors without even warning beforehand of how many batches there will be… until they finally have nobody left to buy any forthcoming release… very bad marketing methods here…
As I know, from personal sources… that Mithril was about to begin producing figurines again VERY soon, not thanks to Lars or Michael but thanks to Chris alone, when it comes to “casting”, and not sculpting…. I think Chris has a lot of leverage , for once, towards Lars to make him do what he wants if he is furious…
I also know, alas, that Chris does not possess this prototype anymore himself, it is at the factory…. but DEFINITLY, he confirmed me that this one is NOT UNIQUE , or if so, it is only if Michael wants it to be so… the mould exists or has existed, this is not a master but a test cast (and test casts are never made only “once”), and they could play the game of the later miraculous findings… in order to gather still anymore money when they need some…
It’s time collectors speak up… that’s not a good way to treat long time customers and dedicated collectors
