How to identify a fake Mithril!

This is a very nice example for a fake Mithril.
I bought this figure in a set of 6 on ebay UK about a year ago. (Seller is not registered anymore after I wrote to him)

It is a pretty good cast and if it would be undercoated you wouldn’t see much difference in this pic.

As you can see in the pic the hole for the plug of the arm is not deep enough. Therefore the plug of the arm has to be cut down, or the hole has to be drilled deeper. Has not happened with any of the original Mithril I have.

This happens, when a air bubble was cought in that hole when pooring the moulding material over the figure and no vacum chamber was used to extract the air in the mould material.

Now this picture tells you a lot of diferent things if you know how to read it.

The one on the right side is the original.
In this pic visible are two mould lines. With a magnifying glass you can see 3 mould lines on the actual figure.
On the right pic you can see 1 rectangular injection port next to the A. Slightly dicoloured on the pic.
On the left (fake mini) you only can see a little tryangular dark spot. You also can see a larger tryangular mark covering half of the 1. This is the new injektion port used to cast this figure. Mithril doesn’t cut tryangular injektion ports into the moulds.

M11/12/13 are having only 1 mouldline at the base. Some of the early horses and wulfs are having more then one without being a fake. If you are in doubt please send me a mail.

…all of my figures have one mould line on the base and I do not sure now if the metal was used it was long time ago since they are painted but…. I will go to sleep now, and I’ll except fine, calm and peaceful dream ….

The figure is original. – I just compared my original with the pic provided. You can clearly see that the “spear” doesn’t fit. The spear, or even lance, of the guard is about 4cm. That means more than the 32mm the figure . That’s all I know.

Master Theobald is right about the lance. I know Master bran as a serious seller! That´s all I can say.
