i would give quite a lot to be able to discuss head to head with Echoriath right now (the nickname by which Chris Tubb is going…… on MMP actually, he IS one of us and has been for years…breaking news for a lot of people I suppose…)
to answer some of your questions David :– About this Galadriel in wrath, well it’s included in the last newsletter we received in mail from Michael…
– About Silmarillion figures, that is too soon, maybe we’ll see some but it’ll have to wait some months or years I suppose, that’s not something that can be achieved right away, licencing structures have to be put in place and I’m sure a lot of actors (not only for figurines) are craving for rights to produce any kind of derivated products from the Silm….
– about the figurines you miss, well I’m sure there could be a way to get Morlas still. It seems Chris still had some. but for Chr1988 and 1992 or even 1990 that may be harder…About Silmarilion figures, do you think that Christopher Tolkien getting out of Tolkien Estate could make easy to open Mithril Range?
And about Morlas… It will be fantastic to have the chance to get one. The other minis I understand that it will be very very hard to solve for us, desperate collectors!
November 27, 2017 at 11:53 am #36695about Silmarillion, we can never know
we must not forget that after Christopher Tolkien stepped down, it’s the Estate themselves who ASKED distributors to produce a tv show, not the other way around !
they contacted HBO, Netflix and Amazon and Amazon won their agreement. so it is a drastic changes in politics for the estate and if they did that for tv rights why not for other things… we have to wait…November 27, 2017 at 2:31 pm #36697It’s a pity, I love Mithril, but it’s discouraging… it has always been in a greater or lesser way in fact. But my nostalgia has made me become “attached” to the brand.
When this MZ started I was very excited and thought that they were going to “revamp” their-selves… but after buying the first MZ issue (which I did not like but bought to check it’s quality) I got very disappointed in terms of quality and price. Since then I haven’t bought ANY of the new MZ releases, just EXPECTING that raise in quality and finish they told but I haven’t seen it, this is the reason for me asking (now and then) to some of you how the releases look and if they still have those “printing marks”. But they all look somewhat slanted to me and moreover they seem to have decreased even further. ((((
Specially I find it almost offending, specially by comparing to other excellent brands that are already produced with the 3D technology. Since I can get an excellent “Lucas Pina” have a look here>> http://www.puttyandpaint.com/images/uploads/artistworks/9316/cache/img_0039__sized_l.jpg
http://www.puttyandpaint.com/images/uploads/artistworks/11403/cache/cropped/26__sized_l_l.jpg
http://www.puttyandpaint.com/images/uploads/artistworks/9919/cache/img_0025__sized_l.jpg70-75mm miniature with a luxury of details (even the grain of the skin is there) for just the price of what I get with two MZ regular (not mounted or double) release. (and if one of them is just a hobbit or an “unnamed” figurine it makes me cry)
So hand in hand for the price of a couple of MZ “quality printings” I got an EXCELLENT resin figure with a luxury of details and textures, in a numbered batch with a nice wooden box (burn-engraved with a drawing), a couple of stickers and an actual hand-signed piece of cardboard that certifies its authenticity.
In reality what Mithril has “forced” me to do is the following: I just wait and wait for a nice discount (around 40% or more it’s what puts me on to buyer mode) and then I grab what I like/want/can. No more No less… there is not a “quality product” sense in this evenmore adding the primer issues. And the “we produce what you ask us to” feeling is completely lost in between the months/years of waiting. Under my point of view, with the passing of time Mithril has become more and more an Hermetic brand that asks you to pay 20 bucks prior to buy a miniature that will cost you 21 euro or more.
END OF THE COMPLAINT ;_(
On the other hand I cannot get the magic LOTR feeling that Chris gives to his works anywhere else so I find myself tied down.
