Just seen the image over on the official site, I personally like it a lot – kind of gives several options as to what moment in time the Balrog is in, i.e. slumbering, just awakening etc. (I didn’t like to mention another option , but I’m sure Balrogs must’ve ,)
I kind of imagined that it would’ve had the wings wrapped around it rather like Chennabog from Bald Mountain, but this more ‘open’ design is better I think.
Anyhow, I hope Grond likes it!

March 16, 2011 at 10:04 pm #15959I like the pose and the similarities to the old (much too large) figure. So let’s wait to have a closer look at it holding the beast in our hands (after assembly). One spin mould being needed for that figure means we will have to cope with several parts. And also to cope with a certain price.

I am not quiete sure about the wings. But that is my general Balrog problem.
Maybe there could be a conversion with some dragon-wings . . .
Would be a fine gargoyle, too . . .March 17, 2011 at 10:16 am #15969Very nice, in line with previous balrog also.
My buy wish list has increases +1March 17, 2011 at 10:27 am #15972Turambar wrote:Would be a fine gargoyle, too . . .…or…. Beelzebub 😡

March 17, 2011 at 6:25 pm #15994Err- do you remember this project ?
To be honest, I thought the entombed B will be that guy . . .[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/32_tubb_15.png]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/32_tubb_15.png[/imgz]
March 17, 2011 at 6:33 pm #15995It looks like it would be pretty easy to convert the balrog so that the wings were folded around the body if you prefer that look.
March 17, 2011 at 11:50 pm #15999I suppose it would be damnd hard to convert the Balrog´s wings that way you suggested, Shadyt.
March 18, 2011 at 6:08 am #16000Maybe Master Caster can mold or shape another wings….. or Wendy ……. !?!!?
March 18, 2011 at 11:09 am #16011These are 2 different ones…. The one lying was the first prototype from Chris if I remember right. Chris wanted to sell this one vis Phaeton Design. Still to come…. hopefully!
March 18, 2011 at 12:09 pm #16018well the lying balrog is an alternate version, which was rejected by Chris but kept as a prototype, maybe to be released later on another range , if people from this forum were enthousiast about it… I talked Chris (at that time) that it would be greatly appreciated but I received no news about this, since that time…
March 18, 2011 at 2:04 pm #16026Well, as far as I am concerned, the lying Balrog pleases me A LOT MORE ! Defenetly!
March 18, 2011 at 2:10 pm #16028+1 !
March 18, 2011 at 5:01 pm #16031please note that the lying balrog was uncomplete and was supposed to bear wings that were not yet sculpted on the picture I provided… so it is hard to compare an unfinished prototype to a finalized different product… and though I like it too, I cannot guarantee yet that I would love the result more than I like the finalised entombed balrog…
March 18, 2011 at 5:22 pm #16032Sorry to be in disagreement with most here, but I don’t like it that much. My first impression is “Balrog having a hard time on the toilet” (thus the grimace..). Ill think it over, and perhaps I’ll change my judgement after contemplation. By now, this picture is more comical to me, rather than menacing or expressing a veiled threat (unless Balrog poop is menacing *gg*). It might be the pose of angle, but that’s it by now for me.
Best
