… I don’t know if it’s meant to be the actual name for this set but that’s at least the theme…
the explosive crew of Saruman at Helm’s Deep…
Chris said he was trying to convince Mithril to post “preview pics” of this HD3 in order for people to submit it for voting in the next M range vote, IF people want so… but at least we would have a visual and we would know what to vote for.
These are indeed produced… they have been for quite some time… but we don’t even know when the next round of suggestions/vote for a regular M range will happen… they haven’t finished casting the HD2 part2 yet….

January 30, 2012 at 9:26 pm #22926Well, as far as I am concerned pictures are always mor than welcomed.
Pictures of visual things (and in my oppinion, miniatures are so . . . ) only can help to make the right decisions!
In this case: VOTE for the part 3 !
January 31, 2012 at 9:13 am #22935Photos are always welcome. Especially when they come from the Chris workshop…
HD3 is logical sequence for the following activities of the “mithril” factory… !
January 31, 2012 at 7:47 pm #22959I believe that there are more troops of Sarumans army in HD3 in addition to the explosive Crews.
I would love to see some pictures!January 31, 2012 at 11:03 pm #22963The Man is not generous in posting pictures . . . ( ups, some criticism . . . )
January 31, 2012 at 11:52 pm #22965well that he posts any or not is not known yet… these are properties of Mithril I think… he ASKED mithril if they were ok to post pics as preview but did not get answer yet… and it was one month or so ago…
now will he share the pics unofficially with me or some among us, I do not know… I have never seen them myself
February 1, 2012 at 11:05 pm #23008Well, if he wants to, he could over-swamping us with preview pictures. No energy to tell something different.
From his actually range there are only one picture for each miniature, different size, different quality.
Mmmmmmmhhhhhhhh . . . no matter about time, just a matter about preferences . . .April 26, 2013 at 9:15 am #27647The next part of Helm’s Deep battle serie is still on rail but lack funding. A you know, Mithril is really not the main business of Prince August and designing a M serie is very expensive and cost months of works to setup the figures and prepare the moulds. The fellowship members commitment to buy (6.5 euro without VAT by figure) is by far not enough to cover the production charge.
I may confirm however the explosive crew (no picture, sorry), two Uruks with the bomb.April 26, 2013 at 1:30 pm #27651Mornedhel wrote:The next part of Helm’s Deep battle serie is still on rail but lack funding……I may confirm however the explosive crew (no picture, sorry), two Uruks with the bomb.
I hope that will appear on the horizon, a little better financial situation in their hands…
Who are those “explosive crew, two Uruks with the bomb”…..
April 26, 2013 at 4:58 pm #27653I have seen pics of them indeed, as the masters are ready.. and have been so for several years now.
Lacking funds is only because Mithril is not able to garner interests from Lars Edman from his other companies… it’s a matter of financial politics on Lars’ side exclusively (his other companies, especially the computer services ones as he is not only versed into figurine factory manage to get interests I think)…. there is no guarantee for him there will be any return on investment and he can’t afford to jeopardize his others companies income into Mithril funding if in the end there is “boost in sales” on the mithril side…
but it’s a vicious circle… no need to tell you why I suppose…
I have been talking with Lars some times ago… maybe a year now, about possibilities…
but my suggestions, ideas and desire of commitment have all been… discarded by Lars, even with Chris supporting my ideas… so I have stopped fighting.. I have other serious matters to attend… my twins, for example…April 27, 2013 at 7:59 am #27661It only tells us that for Lars, this Mithril range part of the company, is just a hobby….. He seems to be doing this job just because he likes the Lord of the rings but he was too lazy that he devised characters. Thus he is a little game…. so we “really” work hard for this Lars’s dream. In final we should respect this…. From time to time he gives us great discounts…. Lars hereby sharing a little bit of your love and of our ideas with us… for me this is end of discussion… I’ll buy those figurines while they still being there on the market, and after that…… I hope that this collection someday have achieved some value…..If not, after us, it will remain just a bunch of metal…. but this is a hobby… with or without all those mithril ranges lost in the dust of their warehouses.
April 27, 2013 at 1:51 pm #27671In this case the right decision of Mr. E:
NOT putting the finished masters of the long awaited HD3 into production,
but blocking The Man´s ability in re-whatever the old Hobbit crew. Which you can buy as a box set regular!Because I am not able to understand these points of view I am not a salesman . . .
December 6, 2013 at 10:12 am #29298What I am going to say may sound quite excessive… but I have thought about it carefully and seems a good choice.
If the problem is that this company is owned by someone who does not care about it (and that’s something that we DO know), why do you support it?
I mean, obviously you love Chris work and so do I in a lesser level, but as Master Turambar has said he’s being blocked. He’s producing miniature we cannot buy because they are not released.
I think there is only one way to break this vicious circle and it is making Lars losing the rights over Mithril, not buying a single miniature until the company becomes non-profitable at all. Then someone will get the rights and it is imply IMPOSSIBLE that the new owner pay little attention to this potencially money-making line.
At least, that’s my position and it has been for years. I don’t support companies if I don’t like their customer policy and how they are managed. But that’s me…
December 6, 2013 at 10:29 am #29299Hi Master Arthadan,
Happy to read you back on MMP .December 6, 2013 at 12:20 pm #29303More interesting of that he is BACK is what he wants to SAY, in this case . . .
December 6, 2013 at 12:36 pm #29306Of course ! 😆
December 6, 2013 at 1:32 pm #29310I do not share your point of view. It’s not so simple.
Mithril are copyright of PrinceAugust. If another company produces Tolkien related work, the name will be different (as done by GW until now, Grenadier in ‘85, Harlequin in ‘90…)
PA signed the agreement with Tolkien Estate in 87 (now Middle-Earth Enterprise) and Iron Crown Enterprise conjointly as PA will cast characters from ICE MERP books (So sorry about that fact Master Barliman).
Not sure another company will risk funding as a new agreement with MEE will cost higher than in the 80s and then select Chris as a sculptor. GW is today the leader on the LOTR/hobbit market miniatures whatever I think about.
By the way, a bankrupt of PA Mithril will push about 10 skilled and cheerful people to unemployment.
A solution is to buy Mithril from Lars as a cooperative funded by collectors (as a kickstarter project).
December 6, 2013 at 2:59 pm #29315Thanks for the welcome Master Milo!
Master Mornedhel, Mithril is just a line of Prince August and not a very profitable one. So PA workers wouldn’t notice much the losing of the ME copyright.
As far as I know, Mithril holds the right to produce miniatures based on the books, being the ICE association merely secondary an unofficial. In fact the only company which can produce ME miniatures for gaming is GW (that’s why the warbands line was discontinued) and ICE has lost long ago any rights to make more MERP stuff.
About Chris as sculptors of an hypothetic new line, that would be uo to us, the customers, to press the new company in that direction.
The solution you propose I’m afraid is unlikely to happen. Lars can’t care less for Mithril and highly we could gather enough money to present a tempting offer.
December 6, 2013 at 3:27 pm #29319…. Lars like mithril but mithril is not his main core business… he is friend with those people and he is friend with Chris… and this is the only reason why mithril is still alive.. there are no sense to discus about possibilities and economic status of mithril, about releasing rights and this or that enterprises … it is just an illusion… mithril line is just a part of their love, tradition and respect for those people who work in his factory in Cork… not it all connected with real economy… this is what I know… cheers !
