curious to see the prices they will all reach !! that’s a lifetime opportunity for sure, I won’t bid on them but they are one of the rarest of all….
September 28, 2011 at 6:29 am #20420Ouch ! great find master Thingol !
There is also Isildur
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360396993522September 28, 2011 at 6:39 am #20421I unfortunately can not afford that luxury !!!!!
September 28, 2011 at 6:42 am #20422I doubt I will win any these auctions also, but I will try.
I just wonder if Isildur is [mith]chr1993[/mith] or [mith]chr1989[/mith] christmas considering that this seller is proposing [mith]chr1988[/mith], [mith]chr1990[/mith], [mith]chr1992[/mith], …
September 28, 2011 at 8:44 am #20424the 1989 is not 54mm from all I know and it consists of several figurines not a single one, and 1991 is clearly identified and not Tolkien related
this isildur is chr1993 I have it myself and it is clearly written below the base
September 28, 2011 at 12:15 pm #20425Do you have any clue of 1989 content ?
September 28, 2011 at 12:34 pm #20426the 1989 content should be a variant of MS226 , possibly an early version, or somewhat different, I don’t know… from all that I know of it is a set of THREE figurines in 32mm often called “isildur vignette” with some elves and a guy in armor (isildur), There is possibly NO base… which does not help identify it….
even Chris does not remember it… and is looking for pictures to remind him…
September 28, 2011 at 12:57 pm #20429OK thanks. did you see my mail ?
September 28, 2011 at 2:51 pm #20430yes, answered it
September 28, 2011 at 2:56 pm #20431PM in return 😆
September 28, 2011 at 4:31 pm #20432The Isildur 54mm clearly is the 1993 Christmas figure … though my (original bought from The Man) is coated in that typical grey – has that one offered got an ‘antique finish’? – from the picture I cannot tell.
September 28, 2011 at 4:49 pm #20433So I just wonder … Isildur, Eowyn (Chr 1990) and Aragorn are not showing any “undercoat” (spray). The first Christmas figure being offered in ‘antique finish’ was Gandalf in 1994. Before 1994 all regular Christmas Figures I know of were coated, and those are three:
1990 Eowyn
1992 Galadriel
1993 IsildurSeptember 28, 2011 at 4:49 pm #20434the man sold me a primed one too, but those are antique finished it seems, they must come form a shop promotionnal stand as these were used to that end… and thus have antique finish…
I wonder if this person has any info on the two other ones… i hope he does… (1989 1991)
September 28, 2011 at 6:22 pm #20435am i missing something, but the auctions appear to have ended, but the price was only £25.00 per figure, and did they sell? confused
September 28, 2011 at 6:26 pm #20436He did not sell them. Unless someone has not persuaded him to sell them directly….. who knows !!!!
September 28, 2011 at 6:49 pm #20437Well, as far as I know you might be right, Gildor judging these as “promotional figures”. At least that’s what I know of my 54mm Galadriel-version. At least that’s what The Man could tell me.
Mind, that they go together with a small leaflet inside a red box. So I would ask the seller if that also could be provided.
In case that Isildur and Eowyn do have an antique finish, which I cannot clearly see in the pics provided, their origin might be of the same source.
Concerning the Christmas-Galadriel-figure you should keep in mind that there are some minor details which help to distinguish. I don’t have to mention the base (hexagonal), but the embroidery from the strap below her chest falls down more deeply than that of the MA1.
There is no hint of embroidery at her long sleeves, compared with the MA1.
Last but not least, the sub-reference at the base of the Christmas-version reads
“Prince August – Galadriel 1992”
Anyway … wishing all of you a good bidding for those … might turn out to be more than expensive.September 28, 2011 at 6:58 pm #20438well the fact is master theobald… the sale has strangely been cancelled…
September 28, 2011 at 6:58 pm #20439What do you think?
He’s installed some personal possibilities for buyers, as far as I could see. Just imagine that the Galadriel-Christmas-figure still is listed with more than 500 € on Gildor’s database.
But I dunno, as I’m not interested. -
