Great job Gerold !
Thank you for sharing with us once again such an interesting project.
I agree with Milo on the choice of the post 80 figurines, my favorite of the heart, not the most beautiful but those after we ran so much to acquire them. Another era !
Just one last word : Is there a new project in the making ?August 28, 2020 at 1:48 pm #38881Thanks for your comments, fellows.
Personally I think it is a shame that Mithril does not sell a range of Hithaeglir orcs anymore in a range we were used to. The last new ones were those included in the MZ673 ‘Ori in the Chamber of Mazarbul’ vignette. I was excited to see two orcs included in a release that originally was supposed to be just Ori. But when I had the orcs on my table, I was rather disapointed with the poses. They are supposed to be attacking, so why do they look like if they are doing some kind of dance ? Why is one almost falling forward and the other is running with both arms stretched, not looking where he is going to? I don’t understand. Not to mention Ori himself, who is looking so far to his left in a way that is anatomical impossible. I would like to hear your thoughts about this one.
That’s why I still prefer the old Mithril orc figures, that are in my eyes very nice, even now that there are so many choices from other brands!
Oh yes there is a new project in the making. It is announced on the back of the last box, but maybe to small on the pictures to be read.
The next boxes will be: Army of Minas Tirith and Army of Harad![imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/1188_101_4994.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/1188_101_4994.jpg[/imgz]

August 28, 2020 at 4:33 pm #38882Great news !
One of the reasons that made me stop collecting Mithril is indeed in your words, Master Gerold.
I did not find myself there in the proposed characters and their attitudes, not to mention the anatomical errors. Today, it seems to me that some of the criticisms made have been partially erased. Is not it ?August 31, 2020 at 1:41 pm #38887It depends…
I liked some of the recent releases: the Harad camel, the Elven flautist, the 3 wargs, the half-orc on the ladder, Tom Bombadil and Merry.
I did not like the Cardolan ragger (poor pose), Frodo at Amon Hen (too much furniture), Gollum (in his boat, just sitting there), Elladan & Aragorn (sorry, no interest), but it all depends on personal taste and interest.I also was surprised by the remake of ‘The Hobbit’ box. But did anyone need exactly the same characters, again, with the exception of the Master of Laketown ? The old ones were perfect to me. I would have preferred the release of the numbers M546-550, still missing… We shall have to wait and see… Being a Mithril collector, I am used to be patient 😎
February 24, 2021 at 2:11 pm #39411It has been long time ago since my last Warband, but here is the Warband of Minas Tirith!
For this one I used M201 (mounted officer), two captains (M6 and M197), 8 Royal Guards (M199) and 16 infantrymen (M198). Also Boromir (M128) and Faramir (M200) are included, as they are heroes of the Minas Tirith army.
Oh yes, the back of the box shows M7 Gondorian footsoldier, but that’s just theory as I only have one M7 in my collection, as a part of a vignette. So this one is not really in the box.[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/1188_box_front.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/1188_box_front.jpg[/imgz]

February 27, 2021 at 11:45 pm #39422err … it reads Mithril warbands, doesn’t it (which of course never have excisted). But never mind, it’s a good idea and effort to cope with. I do not like the use of terrain-parts from a different company at the front cover of the “Mithril”- box. – Never mind, please. I always value when someone’s that passionate with Mithril figures.
March 1, 2021 at 2:19 pm #39426Well, I didn’t find any other terrain piece that could serve better as Minas Tirith than this one, and the Mithril minis stand out with it as well. The terrain piece is not included in the box of course, only the miniatures, and they are all Mithril .
Thank you all for your comments!March 2, 2021 at 9:48 am #39429This is Fascinating ! Bravo Gerold.
Did you achieve every Warbands sets you have in mind ?
March 2, 2021 at 2:12 pm #39430Thanks Milo,
There are some Warband types I would like to make some day, but for which there are not enough different minis at the moment, for example Isengard Orcs and Orc cavalry (on wargs). If I count right, only 5 orcs on wargs have been produced in the whole Mithril range, during 30 years! Including the first one (M51 Angmar orc hornblower) and the Salute 2008 Orc Chieftain on warg. Can you imagine?
But never mind, I still have other ideas for more Warbands I can make
April 8, 2021 at 8:02 pm #39503And here it is: the Warband of Harad!
For this one I used M293 (mounted officer), two captains (M153), 8 Visiguard soldiers (M75 and M79), 7 Near-Harad soldiers (M294), 8 Far-Harad soldiers (M154) and 3 caravan guards (M74). By setting the sword arm of the M294 in a slightly different angle, I could make 7 slightly different poses of it.[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/1188_mw417_box_front.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/1188_mw417_box_front.jpg[/imgz]

April 9, 2021 at 9:52 am #39505Fanstatic idea. If you need, I have many spare M73 as Far-Harad set is part of my favourites.
April 9, 2021 at 3:47 pm #39508Well done Master Gerold.
One more time !April 12, 2021 at 10:05 am #39522Thanks for your comments, folks.
I already have two M73 minis of my own, to create a mini caravan. That’s ok for now. But thanks for your much appreciated offer, master Milo.
