The newest Mithril Newsletter announces a New Era for Mithril !
Thanks to the newest 3D technology they will be able to produce new Mithril figures, apparantly at great speed! They can even show us a picture of the Log with Eyes, the winner of last month. At that production speed, maybe this can mean the revival of the normal M-range ?
The newsletter also announces a new Mithril diorama series ? Sounds like very exciting times coming this way…

April 20, 2016 at 2:03 pm #34466At least some real news.
It seems the Man is now mastering Zbrush (maybe the Z of the new mithril range? )April 20, 2016 at 2:06 pm #34467and the Mithril look and feel is very impressive. It would be interesting to see the master model from the 3D printer used to create the moulds.
April 20, 2016 at 7:50 pm #34469I like these, certainly at first glance, and Gollum on a log is done already!!!!
April 20, 2016 at 8:01 pm #34472I really liked the picture of the Easterling Champion, also liked the troll and Dain.
April 20, 2016 at 8:07 pm #34473… should they be spurt with a gray primer…. Thus for me still does not give the impression of mithril miniatures… perhaps because of the way shooting pictures … but figures at first look, looks great…. especially dwarves…. but about price…. I think still will be to high… and news about new mithril lines… houm let’s wait…. I hope on a good surprise…

It explains the glassy “look”
April 20, 2016 at 9:11 pm #34476Clearly they are, 3d renderings.
So- as far as I am concerned- I can not believe my eyes. I see an Easterling!!!!!!!!
I suppose that will leave me sleepless for tonight.
I want to add, that I see only fine miniatures- or renderings, or whatever . . .April 20, 2016 at 9:22 pm #34478Thank goodness “MZ” doesn´t mean “Motorenwerke Zwickau” ( motorengeniering Zwickau) !
Zwickau is a town in former East Germany and produces – well- better to be silent here . . .April 21, 2016 at 7:26 pm #34482Mornedhel wrote:Thingol wrote:… should they be spurt with a gray primer…. I would agree 100% that these are pictures of the 3D ‘sculpts’ -I often see these same type of preview on another forum which deals with the larger stuff I collect where some artists (not sure if you can call them sculptors anymore) show previews of their work.
I guess the real ‘proof of the pudding’ will be the final ‘print’ of the figure to see how they look. I believe that some figures produced this way can suffer badly from lines if the printer is not of sufficient quality.

April 22, 2016 at 9:21 am #34485well, those 3D renderings (definitly scrrenshots from Zbrush 3D models, no doubt about that) are very well made. I think that Ohtar is lacking details though compared to others like Easterling champion.
About 3d printing, as we discussed already in another thread, it mainly depends on what kind of 3D printing they are using. the figurines are small, so it would not take a lot of time/matter to craft them (as opposed to big mechanical pieces) BUT they require very high detail. If they go for extrusion deposition (the cheapest)… I fear the result may be catastrophic, with layers of matters, holes, lack of detail for such small things which are meant to be used as “master” for casting metal….
If they go for photopolymerisation or CLIP based on liquid stuff (high quality but more expensive) not only it is fast, but it is like magic ! and smooth and great
Added to their new white metal based on gallium and bismuth it could work miracles !
April 22, 2016 at 10:04 am #34488I did not receive newsletter… I need to write to michael.
April 22, 2016 at 10:29 am #34490Oh, now I have read thenews and I am happy and curious.
I wonder if MS range will last or will lead to MZS range?April 23, 2016 at 8:35 pm #34496…Or if only the MS figures are going to be MZ? That’s certainly the case with all the MZ figures mentioned thus far.
April 24, 2016 at 5:13 pm #34498That’s some interesting news! Care to upload the pictures of the 3D sculpts here, please?

April 24, 2016 at 9:43 pm #34500Thanks, Master Caster!
They look good, I’m wondering if this will have any impact on pricing.
April 24, 2016 at 11:10 pm #34501well they said in the newsletter that the price would be the same…
