It’s amazing what difference a different weapon and a few scratches on a shield can make!
February 10, 2011 at 1:12 pm #15278And I alway thought trolls, like orcs just popp out of the ground and don’t have females or kids, because they are not mentioned in a book……
February 10, 2011 at 1:18 pm #15279I agree that this second version of troll, is much better angry troll…. are the trolls and orcs are some kind something…. of devil’s vegetables . Bound from holes and grow from the soil… in dirty and dark corners of the earth….
middle earth… I think….
February 10, 2011 at 1:49 pm #15283They must be Master Nino! 😆
February 10, 2011 at 3:32 pm #15287trolls are simply misunderstood, which is no surprise as hardly anybody bothers to learn their language — they like practical jokes and spicy food and are generally fun folk.
master caster, just because something isn’t mentioned, doesn’t mean it’s not there.
February 10, 2011 at 3:35 pm #15288That’s it, Master Caster. Perfect now.
February 10, 2011 at 3:36 pm #15289Maybe we shall talk a bout these at the pony. ..

This was meant as a joke. It’s just that we have collectors here, they don’t like “things” not mentioned in Tolkien books. So as for instance a troll woman would not exist because Master Tolkien didn’t write about it….
Luchy he mentioned the sun. Otherwise it would be a very dark story.:lol:February 14, 2011 at 3:03 pm #15395well actually, if we consider that trolls are transformed versions of ents…(though I find it odd but well this is what is said) and since we know about the entwives… I suppose there could be female trolls…
as I …. suppose …. it could be the same for the “first breeds” of orcs at least…. though someone will have to explain me how a race can achieve such reproductions rates if they follow the rythms of other races child-bearing….
Maybe orc females can carry up to 5 orclings and are pregnant for only 1 week?February 14, 2011 at 4:09 pm #15396Error …. err… wasn’t it me, the tree, once suggesting a “female orc” for an MS-release …. I do remember well the discussion that caused … a joke that was then, of course … though … anyway …
so “Trolls are transformed versions of Ents”? you said, Master Elf. Alas, this simply means that trees are older than Trolls. And who was it who intended to transform a tree to being a Troll? Give your answer to this, please.
As for Entwives, they’re not a myth at all. At least I know one of them living pleasurely and lovingly at my place …. but that is what Master J.R.R.Tolkien couldn’t know when he started to write that novels …
huoommmm … “transformed versions of Ents” … a hard one that is, Master Elf … and trees are not known for lack of rememberance … not at all … rhuoommm …February 14, 2011 at 4:22 pm #15397To me, Trolls a much more natural race than Orc which were created using evil skills.
Trolls like Bert, Tom & William almost look and behave like brothers, which makes me thinks they could have a mum’.
Whereas an orc’s mummy is more difficult to imagine isn’t it ?February 14, 2011 at 4:25 pm #15398I just checked on Wikipedia.
Have a look at the illustration legend. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll
You see, this is exactly what I am talking about .February 14, 2011 at 6:53 pm #15399hsf62 wrote:Lol, I think you speak to many languages….you know what, there are times where i am mor than inclined to agree with you!

Luchy he mentioned the sun. Otherwise it would be a very dark story.:lol:thanks for clarifying — i’m familiar with purists — there are lots of them in jazz circles … to me, they don’t understand or feel the music and then want to compensate for that with obsessive-compulsive definitions as to what is considered “jazz” or “acceptable.”
the funny thing is that when i read “the hobbit” and “the lord of the rings” (i was 13 at the time) the most fascinating characters to me were the trolls — and given the little space they got in tolkien’s works that’s saying something. tolkien’s story is just that, a story by someone who more or less used it as a vehicle to elaborate on elven linguistics, no less — there is no right or wrong in fantasy. i take his work as a basis and reshape it to my liking, just as i do with everything else.
regarding trolls, i much prefer the nordic versions (norwegian and swedish trolls differ from one another) / background history, which does them more justice as a faery race … and according to lore, their females are stunningly beautiful. but that’s yet another story.
