I fear there is no way to test your ideas alas Tolwen. There are things Mithril and namely Chris Tubb are ready to do, and to change in order to TRY to attract more customers
there are things that are not even to be brought to any discussion or compromise… and the Design seems to be one of them… Still, I managed to get some positive results after all : the furs, more respect on heraldry and informations from the books… that is an improvment
also, please remember that a Suggestion winner for each month you are always welcome to send Chris detailed ideas of how you imagine the figurines, and if you know details from books that he MAY not be aware of, you can give him those info…
for the three times I won (Sauron at Gorgoroth, Cirdan and Arvedui) I used many many mails to discuss the figurines concept art with Chris… Alas I did not mention the shields and heraldry… but the Elendilmir for example, on the forehead of Arvedui was something I took care to discuss, as well as how Arvedui should look and his clothing. About Sauron armor too, and about the posture of Cirdan…
Indeed he has final word, but ideas, most of all if it is YOUR winning suggestion are more than welcome…
When it comes to Regulars, that’s another story but… remember too that the Man asked us to make polls about what we would like, and when the Gray company was the leading suggestions he asked for our “vision” of the Gray company in order to have our “point of view” and details…
minor mistakes or accidents can be avoided by collaboration on the designing stage of the figurine (prior to sculpting). As far as it does not change the design Style, one can provide elements such as armor type etc… Still, I don’t think Isildur or Elendil or Gil-Galad will ever be sculpted with other thing than plate because as we learned in last mail… for Mithril (and Chris), battle armors of the Second Age are plate… that seems to be a mithril concept… well, once you are familiar with the idea, that’s not too hard to accept…
but the debate about plate armor already exists elsewhere I won’t insist on that, that’s but a detail of a whole…

I did not know that…. I will for a few days than send one e-mail to Chris with some of my visions about how I see some details on Thorin III Stonehelm…. only few small details…. !
December 10, 2010 at 9:49 am #13935well that’s a “right” that is usually done by giving as many details in the suggestion thread, to be passed along to Chris by Michael if the vote wins… the idea is not to spam Chris with emails too but after all, the MS project was created in order to make the MX project affordable on a democratic basis… the design process was thus supposed to be the same as the MX once the decision of the figurine was taken…
December 10, 2010 at 3:29 pm #13938I emailed Chris for both Halbarad and Bard. For Halbarad, I made a small suggestion for his horse. (Now I want to see more Grey Company horses in the same style!) I figured I’d save Chris some time with Bard and sent him all applicable quotes from The Hobbit and only pointed out that the quiver had to be empty.
So definitely let Chris know your thoughts Thingol. If you don’t have his email, Michael can pass a message on.
December 10, 2010 at 6:05 pm #13940As for me, I simply forgot to contact The Man about my winning MS-suggestion (which wasn’t originally mine). I had some contacts with him because of some MXs. Ah, I remember. Frumgar took about a year, as we were 6 people joyining in that adventure. From different continents. Discussions were extended, though joyful. With realizing the MX-Imrahil there were so many thoughts I had about the figure. Chris reacted to each and everything – and for some ideas provided much better solutions that I had not thought of before. And, besides, he took a lot of time discussing that. – See, in the ENT, I did not suggest anything about the MX-UP at all. That’s where I (gladly) gave up. I just said that it’s up to him how to do that.
What I want to say is just, that he really does contemplate your suggestions. Though MX and Ms might be some different concepts.December 10, 2010 at 9:12 pm #13944I will send him e-mail on his phaeton-design address so if he there receive mails he will soon have some of my small details suggestion ( about helm and action pose )
December 11, 2010 at 6:00 pm #13963Chris will probably contact a winner if he feels an idea may look better done in a slightly different way as he has recently done with me regarding Guthlaf.
What Chris pointed out and suggested did make a lot of sense and I was happy to go along with the suggestions, and as he said, any sketches are of immense help to him when it comes to the final design so I think he would welcome any thoughts.
December 11, 2010 at 9:28 pm #13972Than I will wait for some time… and if he do not send me any e-mail I’ll send him one mail….. but how can he know which address to use… did Michael gives him assistance…. or information or both or nothing…. !?!?!
December 12, 2010 at 1:13 pm #13983If you want to give additional input into the look of the miniature, do not wait for him to contact you, it does not happen very often.
December 12, 2010 at 8:43 pm #13995…. than I will send him e-mail soon… Thanks Troy…
December 12, 2010 at 11:04 pm #13999Mister Edman finally sent me a huge email answering each point in my bug suggestion roadmap…
well there are positive things… things we could discuss, things we could do, I will focus on the points that have brought the interest of Lars…
Anyway, to sum up, the first steps of Mithril “revival” exclusively focuses on social networking, promotion online and improvment of the online platform for sales.
the retailers and real shops are not at all the main objective and that’s understandable… at the current time…I will compile and cleanup all of these answers and maybe I’ll have to ask some questions to the community as mister Edman would like some answers… and some stats..
December 13, 2010 at 9:45 pm #14014Tolwen,
I have an article for the An Unexpected Party which was written for a hobby fanzine I subscribe to (I try and slip in Mithril reviews whenever I can) which you are welcome to have a look at to see if you can use it. I have edited it as the original assumes no previous knowledge of the story and Tolkien’s world.

I’m right now scrambling to make Issue #11, so it might take a bit until you get a feedback from me.
Thanks
