…. actually those ICE – MERP figures are not very tempting to me but with tis level of Chris inspiration they have great potential. Of course there’s a handful of insignificant figures for real Tolkiens world in this MERP world, but these 2 are excellent !
July 8, 2013 at 4:54 pm #28300Well, as for me, I never had any trouble myself about whether a figure is based on ICE or rather sticks better to Tolkien’s work ( what now is called canonical). – But as Barliman just said, that’s really all down to personal tastes and preferences.
What I do like is the way and especially the skill The Man sculpts his figures. To me that simply is perfect. – That idea of releasing such a series comes very close to the origins of Mithril miniatures, but mind, please, that in those gone days no one worried about a series called “Army of the Witch-King” (M42 – M51) and complained to be non-canonical according to Mr Tolkien’s works.July 8, 2013 at 5:49 pm #28301Gets my vote
, would definately buy this;)July 8, 2013 at 7:18 pm #28302I have one question still… Would you like having a Necromancer in the… Necromancer’s Tower set… or do you think the Necromancer must remain ‘evasive’ and not be in the set itself… I suppose you understand the reason about my question,
As for me, since it is supposed to be a neutral Fantasy set with this title, not forced to be linked to anything and to represent anybody in particular I think it would be a good thing to have the “Boss” of the set… inside the set, no matter how it is represented, as far as it is… necromancer-wizard-friendly
Could you tell me what you think about the idea of having a necromancer in the range (this questions too, is interesting for Chris actually…)
July 8, 2013 at 7:41 pm #28303….. I would like to see a necromancer ! So, is it not logical that he will be in the range that bears his name….. ! How many figures will be in this set in final…. do you know ?
July 8, 2013 at 8:08 pm #28304I am not afraid of a ‘necromancer’ – as long as he’s of 32mm size and doesn’t move or even changes shape
July 8, 2013 at 8:14 pm #28305A necromancer in the set would seem to make sense, as Master Thingol says. He should certainly be included.
July 8, 2013 at 10:24 pm #28306Include a Necromancer, after all it’s his ‘train-set’, and it will save a lot of requests later for him to be produced if he is not included đ
July 8, 2013 at 10:56 pm #28307Totally agreed with Master David. And Master Barliman. And Master Thingol.
I think a named “necromancer´s tower” range should definetly have a Necromancer himself inside.
That would mean, that I can throw my GW necromancer inside the rubbish-box, at last!July 9, 2013 at 6:45 pm #28308I’m late as usually!
Miniatures:
Anything with heavy plate armour is off my Middle-earth buying list, so that “cleric” is not for me. On the other hand, the Troll looks quite interesting, but seems to have a heavy shoulderpad. I’d need to see more angles before making up my mind. However the character design is great and the movement sense is a big improvement.
Necromancer:
It’s a must! But not some random guy with a cloack and long robes, we have plenty of those. Maybe some exotic touch is in order, as if he has just come back from the East or something…July 9, 2013 at 7:21 pm #28309well Arthadan, indeed you are not interested with heavy plate in middle-earth, but this is not middle-earth . same as the other Phaeton releases.
as for the necromancer, well same here, this is… a necromancer, it is not supposed to be you-know-who. but as far as I know it would be depicted as a wraith like… but the “style” of the wraith can indeed be exotic…
July 9, 2013 at 8:56 pm #28310. . . that reminds me of a mentioned prototype of the last Sauron figure, wearing a helmet . . .
Could be easily release . . .July 9, 2013 at 9:03 pm #28311well, it’s not even sure yet there will be one
, Chris just asked me if the collectors would want one. If so he would make one.but he would indeed make it the way he wants
July 9, 2013 at 10:55 pm #28316…. Now it just needs to be a little patient… !

July 10, 2013 at 9:56 pm #28321Of course “the Man” will do it as he wants. No doubt. He is the sculptor, isn´t he?!
But that doesn´t mean he will use something already existed.
Don´t be blind with all your “fanship”.Concerning patience: I suppose there are no other people around with more patience as we have- the mithril fans.
Patient are those you ordered the Arkenstone vignette.
Patient are those you are waiting for the announced Phaeton vignette.
Patient are those, mithril told about the next release of MS 532 (Durin IV)
etc. . . .Sorry, don´t tell me about patience.
July 16, 2013 at 6:48 am #28349This set has been in the works for years. Several years ago I sent Chris some copies of illustrations from that module, and he has been looking forward to its release for a long time (perhaps there is hope for the Wilderland and Easterling figures in the future)! So, these will not all be “canon,” but still in keeping with traditional Mithril ranges. Some will be generic type figures that one could easily find reference to in the books.
Oh, and of course the Necromancer should be included!
July 16, 2013 at 6:58 am #28350…. it would be interesting to see those illustrations…
July 16, 2013 at 7:53 am #28352Twrich,
I felt obliged to edit some parts of your posts as Chris explicitly mentionned no reference or word should appear that could eventually lead to a source or licencing problem as Phaeton is released without licence. There is no mystery why I did not use the word and was voluntarily evasive in the first place……….I hope you understand
July 16, 2013 at 9:10 am #28354yes, please… stop doing “you-know-what” references!!!!
