Does anyone have any info on HD3?
June 17, 2011 at 6:08 pm #18081I’d support Chris’s idea as long as the price does not become ridiculously high and would definately like to see a price before purchasing.
To concur with others I just want to see stuff released, and more to the point stuff that has been ‘promised’, i.e. get the HD series out of the way first.
If releasing all of the HD series for some reason is not practical one after the other, then perhaps at least a release of a ‘Good’ followed by ‘Evil’ sequence that might at least appease collectors who like to do other things with their miniatures
– The PA Fantasy Range of just Elves must have left a few people frustrated as they couldn’t cast an enemy to go with the elves.
But does a lot of this still not boil down to ineffective marketing by the company to draw in new collectors and an over reliance on the GF members to keep the good ship Mithril afloat? You could almost write us into the story itself…… “Ever in the van of battle were the GF………”
.
But all credit to Chris for trying to do this and as he is doing his best to support us, I will do my best to support him and his ideas.

June 17, 2011 at 8:08 pm #18083… about PA & Mithril marketing…
so we cold see how they pour molds…. genuine manufactories…. lady made figurines and is working on the counter in the shop …. I call it saving at work…. during the work hours she can make at least 20 pieces…

Not that this is a ‘hint’ for those who know to reveal what they know, but if future releases that had got to the sculpted stage were shown to the wider audience as ‘coming soon’, maybe more folk would be more interested as they can physically see what to expect and not just have it hinted at (and be able to make plans).
Anyhow, it will be interesting to see how this pans out, I’m off now for the week, so see y’all later (hope the Norfolk beer is as good as the Pony’s Scrumpy).

If I am to vote on HD3, I need to know what they are before I will vote on them. This is something that I have never been told.Well, voting for a miniature you haven´t seen yet is the normal way inside the fellowship, isn´t it ??!!
June 18, 2011 at 10:18 am #18087well, voting among neutral ideas of which none have been produced is one thing but about helm’s deep it is a bit different , these have been announced for years…
Still before HD3, let’s first focus on HD2…
HD3 has never , so far, been advertised and promoted at all by mithril and only disclosed to SOME people by the Man…
I , though quite close to him in some aspects, never seen any pics of HD3 , 4 or easterlings… only heard info about their making…June 19, 2011 at 7:41 am #18127Than if nobody knows how figures in that range can look… my suggestion is 5 angry Ents and 5 flattened and crushed desperate half orcs ! I am sure that this idea might appeal to Master Tree…. hooooommmm
but not also to Master Troy Shady….
June 24, 2011 at 5:33 pm #18231news and polls should be put on the forum, officially in the forthcoming week… the “project experimentation” should begin soon if collector/customers agree to the main aspects of it …
about the pricing, I received some “ideas” they are not definitive BUT I sincerely think they could be fair…. ranging from quite less than what the current M cost… to 5 or 6 euros less than MS singles in the WORST case… (for a given figurine)
the production would only begin if/when 100 preorders are gathered, and the price would decrease the further they reach above 100 preorder, upto 400 preorders… the whole range (10 figs) could have a price ranging from 55€ to 225€ in the worst case (prices still subject to change)I strongly supported the idea to include Helm’s Deep 2 in the first round of suggestions to be voted…
the only sideback so far… is that the preorder must be done on the whole 10 figurines and not individuals BUT people will have cumulative discounts if they want to have duplicates of one or severals figurines in the range…
strategically I can understand this…. though as a customer this is not really freedom…
June 24, 2011 at 5:37 pm #18232still trying to be positive, THIS solution is better than having nothing released at all for years and years to come still…
the situation had to move on
June 24, 2011 at 6:16 pm #18233Actually, it doesn’t sound too bad an arrangement – if it’s the only way we’re likely to get new figures, then there isn’t much choice anyway! But what happens if people should at some point in the future want more of any of the figures?
June 24, 2011 at 7:40 pm #18234ah they plan to RE-release afterwards if more orders come after the preorder time limit
it seems they have ceased to “think” as a one batch only scenario…. all in all, things are rather good… and prices are lower than I expected… considering the price of an individual can reach as low as 5,5€ if pre-ordered enough…that’s quite good
June 24, 2011 at 7:49 pm #18235Thank you Gildor, so let’s give it a go.

I agree Gildor but I’m afraid that PA will never find 400 pre-orders with this attitude. If they know that on 400 figures factory could have break even point of 5,5, Euros than they could do this 400 regular M figures right now. This is not food that cannot be in stock for a one year…. but as you have written… the situation had to move on…… !
July 5, 2011 at 8:30 pm #18424I had a thought about this today:
If they make you buy all 10 together instead of selling them as single figures or as pairs, does this seems similer to the Warbands concept which they had to stop making in the past?July 5, 2011 at 8:36 pm #18425Look, I’m up to paying for ten figures at 14 € a go, if I were to get, say, the Gray Company. Big scary chunk of cash, BUT the results will be ten Chris Tubb Rangers of Arnor, which would be the perfect expression of all I love about Mithril. Worth it, methinks. Especially if there was a discount for two sets.
July 5, 2011 at 9:18 pm #18426no no you don’t buy them all ten together… they plan to release them 5 by 5 from what I heard
besides this can’t be warbands necessarily, those sets can perfectly be townfolk sets too, or thematic sets, since the suggestions will be ours to make
let’s wait for the announcement to be made, I am waiting it to appear asap now as all points are fine and I am to be an official middleman in this project I heard… so I’ll let you know when anything new appears
July 22, 2011 at 6:41 pm #18747I hate politics……. but well… as many of you may have read in the “politicallly correct” newsletter message from Michael, it seems this new Mithril regular release project (the one discussed here) is finally about to become official…
I am very upset about the mithril website being not only .. not ready… but not even created, thought about at all… Mostly upset because it’s been two years that I offered my services to help them build it… and they rejected it… and at the same time they keep telling me it has to be postponed because they are submerged (Michael especially) with workload…
Oh and Chris informed me that … because of internal politics at Mithril/PA Lars “abandonned” the idea of having me as moderator and suggestion caretaker for this new M system but keep Michael in place or the project would not happen at all…
it seems that Michael has a lot mor power than he tends to make us believe… at least, when it comes to letting Mithril become what it is becoming of late… but I may be totally wrong… and I don’t like to judge people on evasive beliefs…
July 22, 2011 at 7:55 pm #18753I guess we shall see in due course. Shame, though. Company politics are always a pain in the derriere.
