true enough gentlemen, so lets focus on this problem , and in our case at the moment… it means waiting…
As said before, I have written many mails today… and took some actions… we have to wait a bit and calm down while waiting for the answerS as I will certainly get at least two different ones…
As I said the project in itself is, I think a good one… the only negative aspect is the price and this is a numeric value… this can be changed without affecting the principle of this project…
July 28, 2011 at 8:01 pm #18977the reason i mentioned the naming issue was because they claim the license is expensive so their prices are high as well — rename the figures, acquire a cheaper license and there you have a lower retail price as well. no problem at all. i really couldn’t care less what the *name* of the miniature is.
July 28, 2011 at 8:02 pm #18978I doubt the licence could be THAT expensive…
July 29, 2011 at 2:14 pm #19006I am trying to gather up a list of sites , paper press and online press which could be contacted in order to make Mithril promotions, If people among you can help me build such a list… I think Gavin may have access to many
also online communities, and mailing lists wouldbe welcome
(I told Michael to contact you Gavin as they are trying to do some promotion in the end and are asking me for potential “candidates” for such promotion)I know it’s not your job, it’s not my job and I was not demanded nor asked to do so, I proposed some help… but in the end if we proove our value, I think Mithril and Lars more especially will see things with other eyes…
July 29, 2011 at 3:00 pm #19010Master Gildor, as you suggested before, I chose to be patient for a while and will not haste. – I do like your explicit enthusiasm for Mithril very much; I think I told you before several times.
Thank you for all you did and achieved so far.
But … I really have to re-consider my interest in these matters thoroughly in my coming holidays – and I will do so. I couldn’t do more (or even afford) more than I did within the last years. – Still I feel sad about the way the MX-UP was non-promoted the way the sculptor and me thought of … maybe that’s why still there are some in stock. I’m afraid it’s not because of a lack of skill from the scuptor’s side nor for my empathy with Mithril-miniatures. The problem seems to be elsewhere, I think.
Gildor, you said in one of your posts, that it’s weird to pay more for a new M-series (mind, please, these should be the cheaper ones, compared to MS or even MX releases) than for an MX-UP. Please also mind Thingol’s thoughts and those of others who clearly expressed that they will not be willing to spend that much money on some miniatures, which I completely can understand. (Please believe me what I’m talking about)
For now I’ll not mention other matters that displease me about all this.
Thanks for your very effort, Gildor.July 30, 2011 at 7:46 am #19051please my friends,
Some things will change soon…. now patience is the key I just would ask you not to discredit this project only because of the pricing… which will hopefully be changed soon I hope…keep faith, keep hope friends… I think things will change… in a good way… the fact this project was released should be a sign that Mithril is trying to change… they accepted suggestions and put them into motion… that’s a start…
now it’s just time to rid Lars of his “Uncle Scrooge” curse
July 30, 2011 at 9:04 am #19054I am patient and do not haste, as you all know …

August 12, 2011 at 11:33 pm #19452mmh maybe not the right place… but Estel, if you are around, do you know anything abotu the Ring.Con (october 14-16) this year? I wonder if, like 2007 there could be some mithril representation, as you participated a lot in 2007…
August 13, 2011 at 11:13 am #19465Well, there is a german Con near Rodgau (Frankfurt a.M. area) called “MittelerdeCon” (Middle-earthCon) focussing primarily on gaming, but with a superb chance for the presentation of miniatures as well. Last year GW tabletop was present and drew quite some attention – and it were fans/gaming groups rather than official GW representatives (these might have been there as well, but not prominently advertised *g*). The same could be done for Mithril, if someone is willing to sacrifice a weekend there.

Oops – It seems I forgot the most important information
It is on September 17 & 18…
You can find the announcement and the program as it is now here.
I plan to be there, as well as authors of ‘Other Minds’ (one of them international – ‘Vaco’) and have a talk about gaming in Middle-earth (the precise theme is still pending, as RL has a tight grip on me now). Having a Mithril presentation and perhaps exhibits and a bit promo can’t be bad at all

I am around now and want to answer. At first here is the link with an English version of the website available, which is nice for non-German speakers: http://www.ringcon.de/
The RingCon was very nice to make big shows until 2007. Some of the side as well as the main actors of the movies visited the convention, dedicated to the movies. A decline in interest, public and active parties was to be realized from 2006 on. The fans were not so engaged anymore and the con was flooded more and more by “pirates of the carribean”, “harry potters”, vampires and so on. That also meant a change in visitors, who became more and more younger and the interest in Tolkien-related products and commercial products declined, which was visible as the “medieval market ” where to buy Lord of the Rings books, figures and so on melted down to a handful of traders.
When we started doing exhibitions we had lots of friends who wanted to help us to be close to the actors. The freelancers’ interest declined as well. When we started doing exhibitions it was not se easy to convince the organizers, that we have something worth to present and it was hard to get accepted and do get a room! After 2006/07 more and more rooms were empty without any activity in there.
In general you can say, that the great feelings you had being at the RingCon and atmosphere and the great stuff nerds created have become more and more rare. Lastly the Con changed palce and moved from Fulda to Bonn (Bonn is much more far away from us thant Fulda). All in all this was one of the reasons why me and my wife decided to stop our engagement at conventions. Nice events which took lots of energy, a move of half of the household and gave us lots of fun beside the possibility to see our miniatures collection and Haradrim tent with interieur presented. Stopping these activities made us sad but was necessary as we wanted to show-off something for Tolkien-fans and support Mithril by doing these exhibitions.
As stated by Tolwen the MittelerdeCon in Rodgau seems to be a good place to exhibit something. I think it is more important to send tabletop and miniature collectors websites newsletters so that they can say, Hey, new minitures around from Mithril.
ALL THE BEST
estelAugust 14, 2011 at 3:39 pm #19481Master Estel always around, even if not noticed!
August 15, 2011 at 11:07 pm #19503there is, anyway a minimum number of preorders to be reached before anything is released… but well we’ll see how the first range goes… besides, pre ordering does not bill you so they said, which also mean that you could retract a preorder?

I am too frustrated about how many efforts some nice guys like Gildor put into keeping Mithril going on and how very good ideas are twisted to nonsense…..(e.g.: ‘vote for something you do not know how it looks like, but pay 22,- for each of 10 figures you have preorderd)..(it is like buy a car and let us surprise you if it is a Beetle or a Rolls Royce)….
and I still like to delete my posts sometimes….

August 16, 2011 at 12:50 pm #19515LOL Nicolai, what do you expect? Auch noch Ansprueche stellen? Just be happy that Mithril is so great to actually offer something for the M-range. Be happy shut up and just pay whatever they charge…. good one!
August 16, 2011 at 1:02 pm #19519I’m sad to hear these things even if I cannot deny them… still, to sum it up , I insisted a LOT towards Lars and Chris in order to have regular M released… Chris too wanted them released but to synthetise… Lars said ok, they really want them… ok they’ll have them… but they’ll pay for it…
Lars has been reluctant for years to release any more M release… and he won’t if there is no benefit for him
all of this saddens me
August 16, 2011 at 4:20 pm #19522Well Gildor, I’m still in the believe what Mithril is to Lars I wrote to you in my last mail.
