well i have not yet suggested it.. as I have not received email from Chris…. but I’ll do, eventually when I receive his word…
as for weapon actually, I was thinking of a Sauron without any weapon for this one, not even the hammer but only He and His ring… after all, the Ring is his best weapon everDecember 12, 2010 at 5:02 pm #13990I agree to you, Gildor. Arthadans idea of a mace instead of a sword: i can submit that. But: why has Sauron got his mace while forging the ONE?
No weapon at all is the point that makes it more minatory.December 12, 2010 at 9:03 pm #13998Maybe is the mace was a tool for making the ring … 😆
January 6, 2011 at 4:44 pm #14382I was amazingly happy to see that the “Sauron at the forge” was a suggestion ACCEPTED by Chris!
I count on you to help me get it win somehow (it is only one among the two votes you have to cast anyway…)
If you like the idea, and all the discussion that has happened in this thread it’s the time!!If it wins I’ll manage to have every little details discussed with Chris for the sculpting!
January 6, 2011 at 5:34 pm #14388…. if non of my suggestion pass to the next round, you will 100% have my vote. In this round I voted for my ideas just to avoid conflict of interest
January 6, 2011 at 6:06 pm #14392Already done, Master Elf. 😎

January 10, 2011 at 5:04 pm #14472I just received a mail from Chris saying that he accepted the “Sauron at the forge” suggestion because he himself liked it. He thinks that there are lots of chances this will win this month (along with another suggestion) and is looking forward to discussing its realisation with me if/when it wins as he really likes the idea already…
I hope it’ll win, I think it will be a great addition , even if … given the choice, I would call the reference… simply…
“The Lord of the Rings” !!!
January 10, 2011 at 9:08 pm #14474Excellent!
January 10, 2011 at 9:35 pm #14475Excellent! 😆
January 10, 2011 at 10:16 pm #14476Great news! Hope you win, Master Elf.
January 21, 2011 at 7:56 pm #14647well Sauron made it to the second turn and is currently winning but.. nothing is won yet he has challengers!
time to vote! I sincerly hope it will win as I am really looking forward to discussing the idea and sculpting process in detail with Chris for this figurine… It may prove though that the second idea that Chris thought would won is not currently in a winning position (he was seduced by the idea of the Horn of Helm, last I receive a mail from him)
January 22, 2011 at 9:47 am #14649I also like “The horn of Helm” idea (This idea can be excellent shaped), but I was left my vote for my suggestion ( Vidugavia – prince of Rhovanion) and yours Gildor….. so we would see… Sauron would be first I hope….
January 31, 2011 at 7:57 pm #14900Well, Chris Tubb must be a seer somehow. What he had foreseen as winning suggestions finally were the winning suggestions in the end.
I know he will find great pleasure sculpting both the Horn of Helm and Sauron at Orodruin as he really liked both ideas.
As soon as the result are made official by Michael I will begin writing to Chris about this Sauron and give him as MANY details as possibles. If you have some ideas to pass along, or sketches please let me know. It may be my idea but I am open for the MMP community suggestions
January 31, 2011 at 11:27 pm #14902As you beg for their votes, Master Gildor . . .
Nevertheless, I vote for the “Lord of the Rings” as well and congrats from me for your fantastic idea !February 1, 2011 at 9:26 am #14908I voted both winners.
Congrats to David and Gildor for these great ideas !February 1, 2011 at 11:02 am #14920I voted only Sauron…. as I promised… but I happy with the horn of Helm too…. my suggestion I’ll repeat next month…..
February 1, 2011 at 11:48 pm #14938Congratulations, Master Elf! Feel free to use the sketches I made.
February 4, 2011 at 8:50 pm #15051I wrote a lenghty mail to Chris tonight, with all details and your sketch Arthadan (though I commented on it as i really think the hammer is not necessary as it would decrease the “majesty of the moment”) I will give him more details if he needs any . i quoted many old figurines for references… [mith]MS225[/mith] (for general positionning), [mith]MS435[/mith] (for SOME evil armor details) , [mith]MS483[/mith] (for masks and maybe the threatening style) , [mith]M239[/mith] (for the “cloak in the wind emphasis” , [mith]LO29[/mith] (for the tabard/cloak and sword drawn if he decides to have a weapon)
I also explained that the base is VERY important for the figurine. that he should imagine that the base could separatly be used for people who’d like to make dioramas for Frodo casting away the One Ring at the end of the LotR… a volcanic basaltic raw base, with naturally carved one or two steps leading to a little promontory…
with a genaral position with Sauron, one leg bent upward on a step, threatening the heavens above him with a closed fist gauntlet with a VERY visible ring , OR alternatively, an open gauntlet with the One Ring between his thumb and forefinger…the idea is to have an “evil majesty”..
February 5, 2011 at 5:21 am #15053Frodo didn’t cast away the one ring at the end of the LOTR, Gollum bit off his finger, danced upon the edge of the promontory, and fell into the fire of Mt Doom. Thus Frodo and the entire West were saved and redeemed!
