Gavin, I have to add: After some time of looking and thinking over . . .
I really like your Eorl, I have to say very, very much. Do you think it works giving some more closeups of him ?June 14, 2009 at 10:31 pm #5746I’ll get you some during the week!
I am in exile from home due to all the pipes being worked on, so no pictures till I get back.
The Eorl conversion worked pretty well, but it wasn’t quite as heroic as I had hoped.
June 15, 2009 at 7:47 am #5748You’ve said all the world. Excellent work and conversion! I like the “uniformity” in the tones of the colors of the clothing of warriors
June 19, 2009 at 10:47 pm #5811Hey Gavin, I must add my voice to the chorus of praise. I especially like your Dagohir–I think you nailed it!!
June 19, 2009 at 10:49 pm #5812Thanks all.
More pictures over the weekend, maybe, got the plumbing mostly sorted and hopefully I’ll have a chance between wall repairs to maybe finish the Orcs off.
June 19, 2009 at 11:33 pm #5813Huoommm … don’t forget to feed the cats … … Master Gavin … huoomm …
June 20, 2009 at 12:55 am #5814The cats are rather well fed. Also spoiled. They’ve been getting soft food as bribes while the massive messy plumbing job was going on. Now they want it all the time.
The stray grey cat (who is possibly a sibling to the two younger cats we have) was sent to a new home, where he’s very happy.
Our cats are being very, very clingy right now though
July 6, 2009 at 1:42 am #6019Uvatha the Horseman leads his orcs to war:
Orc Standard Bearer
Dol Guldur Orc Command Group
The Orcs charge to war
The lighting is all a bit rubbish – it was late by the time the kitchen was painted, but I was bored.
Alas, the orcs spent time in the old vault, so their paint jobs have gotten horridly dirty and dusty. Can’t quite figure out how to clean them. I suspect it will involve Q-Tips and water and time.
And one last shot.
Going to take some shots for the Mithril website tommorrow.
Gavin
August 18, 2009 at 1:49 pm #6519Very nice painted diorama. Beautiful composition, and original choices of figures.
May 15, 2013 at 1:40 pm #27809This is really orc attack… with stupid commercials… on the right place… this time…
May 15, 2013 at 7:20 pm #27816It looks like you have two converted orcs in the last picture. Behind the trolls but in front of the other orcs. Please show us more about them.
May 16, 2013 at 7:39 pm #27821On closer look it is some orcs from PA684. They do look good among those Mithril orcs.
May 16, 2013 at 9:40 pm #27823Where is Gavin?
August 14, 2015 at 11:57 am #32877Oh man, found these pictures on Google image search. I really miss those Mirkwood (and Angmar) orcs that were stolen.
Going to sell off a pile of GW figures so I can afford to replace ’em. Alas.
August 14, 2015 at 12:35 pm #32878Really a pleasure to see your orcs again Gavin. I still feel sorry about your loss.
If you are after mithril orcs again, I would be happy to help. Just let me know.August 14, 2015 at 1:11 pm #32879I might just take you up on that offer.
But first, the rather endless task of cataloguing all the figures I want to sell.
Since my future movements may involve me either moving across a continent or even an ocean, I am keenly aware of the need to reduce my collection to the essentials, and by essentials I mean Mithril and the best GW figures. I have three big storage cases and two smaller ones. I want the collection to make me happy and my painting time to be better spent than “this army needs 36 more Moria Goblins…” ack.
I also really want to get back to painting for the purposes of photography.
Soon. Soon! Maybe.

Good news then ^^
August 19, 2015 at 9:40 pm #32917I hope you’ll find the “occasional” minute “and returned to painting Gavin. I enjoyed in some of your photographs.
September 4, 2015 at 2:57 am #32985I remember when I see this pictures some years ago on internet…after thant was when I decide use mithril miniatures in my own Lotr project! Great photos and painting Master Gavin! ….looking to see more of your paints soon!
September 14, 2015 at 7:18 pm #33016Like the bases too – bases are not one of my strong points (which is why I have yet to finish many of mine).
