I must take a look-see at this movie too. Nice trolls, by the way, Master Thingol, though I’m glad they stay in the garden and don’t come into the Taproom!
April 27, 2011 at 9:15 pm #17060Great, Master Thingol ! Respect.
April 27, 2011 at 9:21 pm #17061… thanks dear friends…
I hope in near future there will be no trolls in Taproom….they stink so much… so we would recognize them by smell before you approach the inn
April 27, 2011 at 9:28 pm #17064In case they’d try to enter there’s a tree with wargskins who will tell them about smelly-and-biting matters 😆
April 27, 2011 at 9:31 pm #17066…. the most efficient guardian of our Taproom for sure… !
April 27, 2011 at 9:49 pm #17068Just a word regarding being wary of things that smell in the Taproom – they’re probably Nob.
April 27, 2011 at 10:16 pm #17069And as for guarding Bree and specifically the taproom inside the Prancing Pony, there still is The Man in the Dark, smoking his pipe, I’m sure … err … that’s why you cannot see him.
April 28, 2011 at 3:50 am #17071You are correct, Master Tree.
And I have no problem with the way Nob smells . . . he brings me ale, after all.
But I understand that P Jackson needs to find another Fili, perhaps a member here could volunteer?
April 28, 2011 at 6:15 am #17073….. I’m too far away from New Zeland…. !
April 28, 2011 at 7:11 am #17076What a career opportunity, though! I cannot imagine what sort of “personal reasons” have resulted in Rob Kazinsky’s departure, but they must be serious indeed if he’s prepared to miss out on the experience of a lifetime and all the kudos it would have brought him.
Of course, “personal reasons” could simply be shorthand for “I hated everyone and everyone hated me”, or “the guy just couldn’t act”. We’ll probably never know.
April 28, 2011 at 6:16 pm #17108friend thingol, did you notice that they mentioned croatia in the movie as well (when talking about the bears)?
April 28, 2011 at 6:23 pm #17109Damn. I missed it. I’m going back to Norway to check out…. this…. 😮
April 29, 2011 at 12:07 am #17111it is the scene where the polish guys drop off the dead bear – i did not want to tell you and spoil the surprise, that was why i suggested you should watch it, hehe.
April 29, 2011 at 6:40 am #17115Hey, fellows, can I point out that we’re straying way off-topic here? Let’s save this room for discussions about the Hobbit Movie! We can always open another room to talk about other movies.
In fact, that might not be a bad idea anyway – much in the way that in the days before the Pony was rebuilt, there used to be a room where we discussed what we were reading or had read, complete with recommendations. Thanks!
April 30, 2011 at 6:55 am #17134… you are right Master Barliman…. but in Hobbit are present 3 stinky confused trolls and that conversation are a bit connected with theme…. a bit 😆
…. thanks Master Cameosis….

King Thranduil is been casted. Unfortunately I have to constat, that Master Bowie didn´t win this auction.
King Thranduil is one of my favourite characters and I would have really liked to see Master Bowie.
So- let´s memorize the name: Lee Pace.
I don´t like “pushing dasies” so let´s wait how he will look like.May 2, 2011 at 6:58 am #17157I’ve not seen or heard of Lee Pace before, and I certainly can’t comment on his acting abilities, but he certainly has an “Elvish”-looking face.
I’m more worried about Elrond – Hugo Weaving has at last been seen on the Hobbit set, but there’s still no news regarding whether or not he’s signed up. I guess he’s holding out for The Right Price. After all, he’s such an important character in “The Hobbit” that I imagine his agent can wield a pretty big stick.
May 2, 2011 at 8:38 am #17158Unfortunately I wasn’t available to take on the role of Fili due to other committments , but it appears that it was due to ‘health’ reasons that RK pulled out, but that could cover a multitude of reasons and not necessarily to do with actual health (see The One Ring web site).
As to his acting ability Barli, well I have only seen him as a bit of a ticking bomb character in Eastenders (there, I have admitted that I watch this drivel (on occasion ).
May 2, 2011 at 11:13 am #17159Oh ye man of little taste….! (I’ll give you the benefit of doubt and suppose that it was at Mrs D’s behest.)
But are you talking about the ex-Fili, or the new Fili?
May 2, 2011 at 11:27 am #17160Well, quiet obvious there is a little similarity in the face of Orlando B. and Lee Pace.
So the father-son-aspect is solved in a good way, so to say. Never mind his appearence in “pushing dasies” . . . -
