Yes, I noticed that too, but I have no idea who she is.
June 21, 2011 at 9:55 am #18166…completely unknown to me … never heard anything about her before…. Maybe it’s because the last 10 years I avoiding to watch USA shit movies…. and about this character – “same unnecessary role as Itaril or something like that” …. she is so “cute” he..he… for playboy… but characters like this must be only cameo role in bunch of elves….. no name, no words… this is my opinion…
June 21, 2011 at 10:01 am #18167I agree. I don’t understand why this character has been invented at all.

Rather silly and at times quite detrimental to the storyline. She probably helps Bilbo escape from the Elvenking’s realm and later appears with the elves and tries to talk everyone out of fighting each other until the orcs appear. And then kicks orc butt. (I hope I’m wrong…)
June 21, 2011 at 2:31 pm #18171I hope you’re wrong too, but it would be a typical movie storyline. We shall see in time! You’re right though – movie-makers work to strange agendas that see certain character types as being essential if their movie is to appeal to every audience demographic.
June 21, 2011 at 3:45 pm #18173I thought Saoirse Ronan had gotten that part… hmm.
June 21, 2011 at 3:56 pm #18174As for the “need” more than half the population are women, and, crucially, far more than half of all movies and TV media are consumed by women. It’s not “oh we need women in the story to keep the girlfriends happy” rather “if women do not like it, feel they have no contact with it, they won’t go and your movie will flop and you will die alone and sad”
It’s one of the reasons the distributors insisted on a bigger role for Arwen in the trilogy.
Of course the weird aside to that is that women (as a demographic) hate genre movies made “for women.” This may be because such movies suck (“she’s a superhero, but she has all these relationship problems!”), but its possibly also something to do with people’s requirements for genre movies. Men may want some macho hero blowing crap up. Women may want the same thing too :p (I am not being entirely silly – I have some access to Canadian movie industry figures)
So, there’s that.

July 8, 2011 at 1:44 pm #18474Nice!
July 8, 2011 at 3:03 pm #18475… to me they appear a bit too darkish in that picture …
July 8, 2011 at 4:13 pm #18477where are the unsung heroes of the novel and movie: william, bert and tom?
oh, the injustice …July 8, 2011 at 4:16 pm #18479They’ll be there. It’s already been reported that the ‘statue’ versions have been re-manufactured to match those in the Fellowship movie exactly. The actual characters will be CGI, of course.

Bloody weird haircut Dori has got, or is it a hat?
July 8, 2011 at 6:57 pm #18485…for sure in next few days we will see other guys from Thorin Oakenshield bunch
and for me also this dwarves look a bit too darkish in that picture but I’m sure that they’ll appear better in natural environment…. “Gothic dwarves”
July 8, 2011 at 11:13 pm #18486For me those dwarves were always somekind of a “wild bunch”. Not at all- too darkish.
But of course it is all subjective . . .Master Del Toro´s influence is remarkable.
