Well, I don’t know if anyone around here has also tried to assemble those three Lorien boats. – I wonder what your experiences about that are.

May 10, 2019 at 2:44 pm #37827My 3 lorien boats are still unpacked. I will let you know once I have tried.
May 10, 2019 at 4:27 pm #37838Huomm … I think you better leave them there in the blisters, Master Milo … just to keep you from massive disappointment in terms of a mass of non-fitting parts. – Huom … That Boromir-figure simply is a pure nuisance to assemble though I did not need to assemble Boromir’s right eyebrow to his face …. and believe me that I have assembled quite a lot of miniatures (from other companies, too) …
just to put an Ent (err … end, of course) to it: I’ll be off here very soon …May 10, 2019 at 5:20 pm #37839A very unhappy Ent…
If I buy a figure in parts I expect the parts to fit together! It’s not like I convert a mini and have to make the parts fit.May 10, 2019 at 5:27 pm #37841Having assembled all three, I would say try and persevere, but do be prepared for frustrations. As mentioned elsewhere, I have purchased two of each (three of Legolas and Gimli – I am a masochist I know ), and have found Boromir’s arm a source of frustration on both; I have ended up with one almost correct and another ….. well it will do ; getting the legs to sit correctly is also a bit fiddly .
I think it is getting the alignment right and applying adhesive that sets PDQ that is essential, and the trickiest part – with these figures this is a ‘must’ to get them sitting correctly in the boats.
I have tried holding the pieces in place using Blue-Tac (not sure if that is the name elsewhere – the sticky stuff that you can stick posters to walls etc.) and then superglue with an accelerator. This has been moderately successful, just use adhesive sparingly and try and avoid getting it on the blue-tac as well. Possibly gluing the seats in place might help and avoid things slipping about (let the adhesive dry thoroughly before removing the Blue-Tac).
I am also finding that it is my eyesight and fingers that seem to have got bigger, that are causing me to have issues with the fiddly bits as I am sure there have been many other previous releases with small fiddly bits to deal with
So try and persevere, I personally feel indebted to Tom for making this happen and assembly issues aside, love these sets
May 11, 2019 at 9:07 am #37843Having said what I have said is because I don’t have these MZ/MX and there for can’t judge how easy or uneasy it is to assemble the parts.
What I mean is that the parts should fit easy together without the possibility that the parts can be glued on at any angle.I dont think I would have any problems to assemble these MZ/MX figures as long as I’m still able to repair swords for the Mithril figures using a 0.4mm drill bit free hand to drill the holes….

I think ideally you need three hands for the boats 😆

https://www.facebook.com/Shoshiesminis/The one I knew about was similar to this brand, but not exactly this one:

May 13, 2019 at 9:50 pm #37851Oh, Master Hsf62, I have a similar “machine” but mine has also a nice large and movable magnifying glass at the top. Anyway, it’s a very useful tool.

May 16, 2019 at 9:44 am #37858I made the boats all 3 of them. The figures are indeed a bit tricky, especially Legolas, Gimli, Aragorn and Boromir. Not the hobbits. I first painted the parts, before assembling. After painting I glued the parts with superglue. Legs were not easy because there are no holes to fit them in, so you have to guess what should be the right position of the legs. But I managed to do it, and if I can do it, so can you.
I posted pictures in the TAPROOM 4.September 23, 2019 at 9:59 am #38004I have forgot about this two. Just ordered the two MX boats.
