November 22, 2012 at 9:17 am #25813Are you really sure that it was “Fred” ?
I heard often that his name was “Fredo” ? but maybe it’s a nickname …..November 22, 2012 at 12:05 pm #25814He was Fred to his friends, such as myself. Everyone else called him Frodo. Even that author chap who wrote about him.
November 22, 2012 at 3:47 pm #25816Huoommm … no reason to celebrate a first-vote win I think, Master Milo …. huomm … but as you already offered … hoomm … thank you ….
gruoommm … I also don’t understand that Blobbo-name-think … huomm … and Fred, er, Frodo, so you say, Master Barliman? …. huoommm … ah, I do understand you lads now, just want to leave me a bit puzzled …. rhuoommm … but I’m sure it wasn’t Mary and Poppins who went to what you call Mount Doom … rhuom .. those were Frito and Spam who took that ring to the Zazu pits of Fordor …. huoommm … just read the original story, entitled “Bored of the Rings” by Henry N. Beard and Douglas C. Kenny of the Harvard Lampoon … rhuoommmm … that’s all I know about all this … hommmNovember 22, 2012 at 3:50 pm #25817Hi Theobald.
In my country, it’s always time for celebration, no matter the event or non-event.
CheersNovember 22, 2012 at 3:53 pm #25818Huuoommm … now that’s strange indeed, Master Milo … celebrating non-events, too … rhuoommm … anything you do in between then? … huoommm … anyway, cheers …
November 22, 2012 at 3:58 pm #25819Of course, for instance, you can again watch football.
Another player did better than the dunlending Zlatan yesterday. Milan’s defender Philippe Mexès
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xv9x6c_philippe-mexes-se-la-joue-a-la-zlatan_sportAnd he is a french … from Toulouse
Sorry to disturb quiet people in the dark corner with ball things.November 22, 2012 at 4:05 pm #25820Bored of the Rings? A brilliant parody, Master Tree. I read it years ago, but had forgotten about Frito and Spam. I shall have to dig it out and read it again.
November 22, 2012 at 5:47 pm #25821Hear Ye Hear Ye gentlemen… maybe you are not aware because it has strikken the world of mmorpg and Lotro in particular (along with other games such as guardians of middle earth which is a perfect abomination : see by yourself : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ouc53MSrUuU&noredirect=1)
well, due to all the abuses made by Warner Bros, who owns New Line, and also the abuses made by Saul Zentz in general regarding the licences they own about derivated products of the “LOTR books”….
TOLKIEN estate as assigned Warner Bros (and new line) AND Middle Earth Enterprise (formerly Tolkien Enterprise) to court and requests a prejudice of $80millions along with a change in the marketing and strategy plans about LOTR/Hobbit by Warner Bros and Saul Zentz.
Tolkien Estate vs Tolkien Enterprise!
quite a strike! (but we can be sure Tolkien Enterprise/warner bros don’t care at all about that, they generate billions with the franchise… what is 80Millions )
November 22, 2012 at 6:49 pm #25822Huoommm … yes indeed, Master Barliman, I can assure you that to read it again will please you very much a second time … rhuoommm … besides it’s much shorter than those many-pages-Tolkien-novels as you might remember … rhuoomm … hom …
so you’ll get through it in one afternoon and have a various choice of languages being used … rhuomm … brilliant, yes, that’s the word for it … huomm … sometimes I still enjoy the tales of Goodgulf, Arrowroot,Ledolam,Gimlet and all the others mentioned in that book … rhuoommm … ah, Sorhed’s fearful minions, the Nozdrul always gave me a shiver while reading …rhuoommm … a parody, you say, Master Barliman … well, right, but a very good one, methinks …. hoommmNovember 26, 2012 at 7:57 am #25854The first GW “Hobbit” releases were revealed over the weekend:
There’s nothing spectacular about them thus far. I’ll be more interested when they release some Elves and Men of Laketown etc. At least the Wargs are an improvement on the demented hyenas they designed for the LOTR films!
I assume Radagast carries a hedgehog under his arm as a substitute for a security blanket?
November 26, 2012 at 8:22 am #25855I do not like those movie miniatures… this is plastic, bad plastic copies of film characters. and it can not awake my imagination….
November 26, 2012 at 10:15 am #25860Yes, some are plastic and some resin – and all VERY expensive. None are metal any more.
November 26, 2012 at 2:21 pm #25864I dont like the designs either. I was also glad to see that the wolves did not look like hyena’s.
November 26, 2012 at 3:16 pm #25865Huoommm … how could a bad quality become worse? … rhuoomm … talking about the design of those figures … huommm … I only hope the characters in the movies do look much more better than those strange creatures … rhuoommm … and such a price for all that stuff ? … that’s just ridiculous to me … huoommm
November 26, 2012 at 3:24 pm #25866I suspect it’ll be ridiculous to a lot of potential customers too. GW have probably priced themselves way outside their traditional teenage hobby market. So who’ll buy this stuff?
November 26, 2012 at 3:47 pm #25868Huoommmm … won’t be me, the Tree. That’s for sure …. huoommm rhuom

honesty, and you know that I like the GW Lotr figures, I don’t want for example this ridiculous “exclusive” Radagast !!
I prefer their old one!!and unfortunately, those figures ARE the characters of the movie !!!!!
November 26, 2012 at 4:13 pm #25880Huoomm … then I should better keep from any more comments until I’ve watched that first movie … hom … I just hope my poor nerves will be able to cope with it …. huoommm … we’ll see …
November 26, 2012 at 4:16 pm #25882well we should cheer up somehow… Mithril would soon become economically more interesting than GW for their products, both considering
– the quality
– the fact it is metal
– the fact it is more respectful of the books (if not always…)
– less expensivenow it only needs to be more “promoted” to gain customers
