My favourites are still the Night’s Watch Rangers, especially Jon Snow.
The bloke on the TV show WISHES he looked as cool as the miniature
August 13, 2011 at 6:00 pm #19469about M125, as far as I remember quendil, this is an existing “variant” of the M125. I don’t have a pic myself I think but this remains a M125 slightly different, if you can provide me with a pic I can post it.
There are several variants throughout the whole M range, especially with re-releases in boxed sets or as MC. (M86,M138,M145,M146 and M260 have variants and maybe others too like MW337 horse captain)
not to mention three MX which have special limited variants too… Burzash, Imrahil, and the Unexpected Party.August 13, 2011 at 7:15 pm #19470well I have “uniques” in my galery (not the database , the gallery module) ; the Old MMP site by Mithrandir had also pictures of variants… but I do not have all those pictures of variants… that’s a good point… if people have pics of the variants I’ll gladly open a gallery (not database entries thoguh I will add comments in their descriptions, since these are not “other figurines but slight variations only for collecting purpose only”)
I admit I myself do not possess variants except those of the MX…
August 13, 2011 at 10:11 pm #19473well, a pint of cider for me master Butterburr… Tonight, I finished painting… my 400th mithril reference! (all ranges included)
less than 265 remain…so much to do… and so little time…

To me, M125 picture in MMP database is the variant as I never saw any like this anywhere else. And about 138,M145,M146 and M260 variants, can you please tell me more so that I fill lostminiwiki gallery ?

http://www.miniatures-workshop.com/lostminiswiki/index.php?title=Category:Mithril_MiniaturesAugust 14, 2011 at 2:05 pm #19479damn you are right, my own m125 has the sword on its forefront too… well the picture from the database comes from the datasheet of Mithril (those pages from the catalogues) and is indeed the variant… but at the same time it is the “official picture” published by Mithril for this reference… quite odd isn’t it?
I updated the database for [mith]M125[/mith]
about the other ones, the pictures can be found in Zoetrop magazine but I would maybe need to scan them
August 14, 2011 at 2:23 pm #19480Thanks Gildor
and Thanks Barliman for the scrumpy…But you change its rat’s tail isn’t it ? Taste is more salted somehow 😡
August 14, 2011 at 5:02 pm #19482They’ve been eating the pork scratchings I leave on the counter – very salty.

Hm…. I think I’ll have to try to find somewhere in Middle Earth this older version of M125 Gandalf…. Hm… !
August 14, 2011 at 8:45 pm #19485Let´s have a late-night-drink, Master Nino.
Reading all these many things make very thirsty . . .August 14, 2011 at 8:48 pm #19486Why not dear friend… a 2 mugs of beer for Master Archer and me, please master innkeeper….
August 14, 2011 at 8:50 pm #19487. . . could we have two umbrellas as well, Master Barliman?!
August 14, 2011 at 9:16 pm #19488Only if you sit outside…

Sauron representation, and I am still after the two references (from citadel or ral partha) of Sauron afoot holding the palandir, and Sauron on his trone (with the big eye and lots of roots on the throne)
they are not special nor really beautiful at all but well these are Sauron….also, the Necromancer Sauron from GW is awful and I decided not to get it, but I have the one from the Last Alliance battlefield
and I’m quite happy to have suggested (and won) two Sauron representation from the Mithril GF range
[large]in the end master Daines may be right, I am somewhat a mouth of Sauron lol[/large]
(PS : @Gavin : damn if I show my wife pics from Tom Meier figurines from the Game of Thrones she will ask me to buy the full range… she has become addict at RR.Martin Games of Thrones recently and keeps reading all the books…)Meant in the nicest possible way Gildor from ‘our’ side of the fence – I imagine Lars & Co. must shudder when your emaisl appear in the Mithril ‘In’ box 😆
Re the Heritage figures, many years ago I ordered these unseen and what a load of c**p they were – I thought then, and still do that they were the worst sculpted figures I had ever seen (I think I have binned them over the years). I also grabbed a couple of the 75mm figures at the same time (Gimli and Legolas) which I still have. Gimli was OK, but Legolas looked nothing like the film character and looked VERY effeminate!
Ah Barli, the Miniature Figurine Tolkien figures, difficult (for me) not to laugh at the orcs with Bay City Roller mail leggings etc. A shop did have very nice painted versions of these figures, but I was far too young to achieve even a passable rendition. I do however remember these with great fondness as they were my first ‘sneak’ purchase when I saw an Ad’ in Military Modelling and raided my Post Office account for a postal order and the excitement of that little brown package arriving (without my dad finding out) was unbeatable.
August 14, 2011 at 9:50 pm #19490Ah, yes, those were the days when boxes from Minifigs arrived packed full of sawdust and you had to sift through it all to hunt down the figures packed inside. Great fun.
August 15, 2011 at 11:30 am #19491When I began to collect miniatures one of my first purchase was the Felowship box by Grenadier. Those were the days indeed.
Master Barliman, have yourself a drink and I’ll have a mug of your finest beer (not that scrumpy for unaware travellers!) and another one for Master Quendil.
For the good old times!
August 15, 2011 at 11:41 am #19492To the good old days! (though I suspect they weren’t really as good as our rose-tinted memories would have us believe.)
August 15, 2011 at 5:52 pm #19497well it’s time for us people to support the HD2 if we want to see it released…
I have asked Michael to provide a pic of the range, if not I will ask Chris eventually if he allows me (or maybe some other than me) to display the picture of the full set on this forum… but without confirmation I can’t yet…
August 15, 2011 at 6:23 pm #19498I will be supporting HD2.
