…why not… I had a “hard” day in the garden today…
January 29, 2012 at 9:30 pm #22906…. many half orcs were around….. and I’m thirsty this evening… one cold black beer before sleep will be very welcome
January 29, 2012 at 9:32 pm #22907. . yes, absolutely! Cheers my friend!
Oh- I have had a hard day in the garden too: having a nice hot tea, some left-christmas cookies, a nice warm hug from my wife . . .
There are already those snowdrops coming out of the earth . . .January 29, 2012 at 9:34 pm #22908Cheers !!!!
See you soon…
January 30, 2012 at 6:57 am #22909Ahh my good friend, Master Tree; I meant no offense . . . about the “good thing I’m not an Ent” comment. It was a joke going back in conversation to the comment by the Master Archer about being asleep and drunk under my table in the corner. If I were a larger entity, like an Ent, Master Archer would not have had room to sleep at my feet . . . that is all.
January 30, 2012 at 4:52 pm #22914Take a look at the latest LOTR crud coming from the dread GW:

I’m not damning the quality of the modelling work, most of which is to a high standard no doubt, but the concepts themselves. I mean, where are their visualisers coming from with these ideas?
Sorry, but I have to leave now or I wont reach the lavatory before I throw up…..
January 30, 2012 at 4:53 pm #22915Oh, and have a shudder at the prices while you’re at it. They make Mithrils and PA figures look cheap.
January 30, 2012 at 4:58 pm #22916I just received today at last the first five HD2 figurines! I could not believe it, HD2 in my hands at last!
no Sauron yet though…
Well those figurines could be celtic warriors actually I’m certain you can boost up this army with the celtic warriors range from PAI will add them to database soon

January 30, 2012 at 7:20 pm #22920“this” what……?
January 30, 2012 at 7:21 pm #22921yes actually i was about to say the same… compared to GW… Mithril is less expensive now !! Ironic isn’t it?
January 30, 2012 at 7:25 pm #22923The odd thing is that GW changed ro resin because metal was becoming too expensive….and instantly increased all their prices!
January 30, 2012 at 8:25 pm #22924my doctor , who is a tolkien figurine collector&painter too (if you can believe that!) showed me one of the last olog hai troll in resin from GW…. supposedly of high quality and better than metal… we both agreed that it was very poor… bad assembly, bent parts due to “plastic” resin… and the whole thing for 25€ !!!!
definitly Mithril is a better “affair” than GW at the moment!!! even with their high price, HD2 is better quality and less expensive than GW!!
January 30, 2012 at 8:58 pm #22925I whole-heartedly agree. I’ve not heard a kind word from anyone yet about GW’s resin casting – and of course, unlike metal the “bent” parts can’t simply be straightened out!
Meanwhile, on the subject of this latest batch of GW/LOTR travesties, I’m simply amazed that MEE are permitting such abominations – or is the liecnsing of the movie-based figures entirely in Newline’s hands? I’ve never quite understood where one set of rights ends and the next begins…

January 30, 2012 at 11:55 pm #22928well we may not speak about the same thing cameo… it is a brand new troll and it seems that now GW promoted plasti/resin and will cease or totally reduce their metal production…
this guy is a collector of metal miniatures (all kinds of armies, and cars) and would never have bought a plastic thing if there was a metal alternative…
January 31, 2012 at 3:07 am #22931they have switched most of the more popular models to finecrap, you can only get the metal versions on ebay or from stores which have remaining stock, second hand is an option as well. games workshop sells resin exclusively of these updated models.
i’ve got all their trolls except the mines of moria troll, which is only included in the box and is cast in plastic, and the half-trolls.
these are or were all metal, originally:
this one is plastic and you can effectively make five different troll models out of it:

Sorry, that’s me being old-fashioned I guess – I only speak English, not txt or computer patois! – I suspect my preference for genuine English makes me a bit of a dinosaur these days (but at least a dinosaur that anyone can understand).
