huooommm … such are Hobbits …
October 21, 2014 at 10:06 pm #31345huom … er, did anyone around here understand or know where that rule comes from that Master O’Brien referred to on the official GF-board? … hom … there must be at least eight suggestions per month, he said this afternoon …. rhûom … maybe he just thinks that quantity is better than quality … hooommm … alas, I dunno … huomm … sorry, I don’t want to say that those three suggestions having been made after this appeal are lacking quality, you know, not at all …. huoommm …. it just seems to me that all this voting-system-thing is in a hassle for some time by now … huom …
October 22, 2014 at 7:21 am #31348I’m running out of ideas myself. The possibilities aren’t infinite, there’s a limited number of worthwhile figures that can be suggested. I certainly wasn’t aware of there being a “rule” about a minimum of eight – if there is, then Master O’B has just made it up.
October 24, 2014 at 8:11 am #31368Maybe it is just a way to alleviate the work that Chris has to do? grouping up months with less than eight suggestions can result in less miniatures to sculpt…
The problem is that they really got a branstorming of ideas! There are actually 14 suggestionsOctober 26, 2014 at 6:40 pm #31373Huooommmm … as far as I know it wasn’t The Man who delayed the production of Mithril figures… hoom …
October 27, 2014 at 12:10 am #31374well master ent, master innkeeper, I just posted some comment on the official forum about this new 8 suggestions rules…. proposing that there are also a minimum number of votes for a suggestion to be considered “winning”
as for releasing… I know Chris is in the process of sculpting Castamir & Eldacar, and Thorondir the steward…. Saw some early sculpting of them and……. all I can say is that’s is very original and quite never seen before … I’m looking forward to see a more achieved work but the point is : Chris is up to date with sculpting. Mithril is not , with casting/licencing/packaging.
October 27, 2014 at 8:15 am #31377I’ve just added a comment of my own, Master Elf.
This new “eight” rule smacks of being a method of reducing the number of Fellowship figures that Mithril is obliged to produce….
October 27, 2014 at 10:26 am #31379The less we vote, the less they release…
😡
October 27, 2014 at 10:36 am #31380I think we all vote. Master Michael’s “minimum of eight” suggestion (i.e. “rule”) is nothing to do with not enough people voting. It’s to do with generating more suggestions. Trouble is, all you get then is people unimaginatively suggesting Hobbits eating, Bilbo smoking his pipe, old women feeding chickens, the Witchking going to the lavatory, and so on. I’d be happier with fewer, less repetitive and more relevant suggestions.
October 27, 2014 at 11:59 am #31381huoommm … indeed, Master Barliman … when I read that newsletter it seemed to me as a threat: when there are only 4 suggesstions it’ll be the end of Mithril production …. hûom … I see that after that there are some very poor and uninspired suggestions being made (from my point of view) …. huoooomm ….
when there’s a minimum of suggestions (at least, is there also a maximum (e.g. not more than 12) ? …. huoommm …. ?
October 27, 2014 at 5:16 pm #31382it would be better to go for crowdfunding on “suggested ideas” BY mithril… than carrying on this “farce” of a suggestion by us with a minimum suggestions… but no minimum votes… that’s unbalanced.
I submitted the idea of crowdfunding as a replacement for the “commissioning” proposed by Mithril.
As all of you may know, in hobbies, such as lead figurines, recurent crowdfunding has become an established and quite approved business model that assures producers to not make mistakes and control the production very precisely.November 4, 2014 at 11:57 pm #31406huoommm …. it’s November now …. rhuôm … Master Barliman would you mind to warm my bowl a bit on the oven before you fill the drink in, please … twigs and branches are getting cold, leaves are falling … grrrûoomm … maybe I’m just getting old … hoommm … no, thanks, no coiny things for dusting and wiping the place, cleaning them small windows, refixing the front door and things like that … huom … just a fine warm drinky-thing would do … hom?
November 5, 2014 at 8:23 am #31408Well it’s cool here too, but we still haven’t seen any frost. Strangest of all, and indicative of how warm it’s been, yesterday I saw a bee and a butterfly, and there are still crickets chirruping away in the garden.
November 7, 2014 at 2:57 pm #31425Yeah, we only had our first sub zero night last week, and there’s a threat of a wet flurry later. Verrry late winter here. Grey as all hell, though.
November 7, 2014 at 4:23 pm #31430All very worrying, in global warming terms.

Reaper, Red Box, Dark Sword have all done successful kickstarters. I suspect we shall see more of them in the hobby world beyond the three or four major hobby producers. It brings in cash, gets product lines going, creates community engagement and generates buzz.
I’d love to see crowdfunding for the Easterling and for the Helm’s Deep 3 range. I wonder, however, if the first experiment should be something else, something really iconic. Though what, I have no idea.
November 7, 2014 at 5:34 pm #31432All the things that count as iconic so far as LOTR or The Hobbit are concerned have already been modelled by Mithril, I suspect. I certainly can’t think of anything obvious.
November 11, 2014 at 10:21 pm #31474Hi David… how are you… can I buy you a large pint of beer ? Cheers
November 15, 2014 at 6:02 pm #31507Hi everyone,
It’s been a while since I went to visit my friends here. Happy hour on my purse this evening !
Nothing special to celebrate apart from the joy to be here.
Cheers!November 15, 2014 at 6:06 pm #31508Nice to see a customer who is so easily pleased! Have you suggested anything for the next Fellowship vote yet?
