Reading this, I think I will order another one for me… Here has been raining for three days now and it is all grey and cold. Do you need some brickets for the fireplace Barli?
November 30, 2014 at 5:24 pm #31660All contributions welcome. It’s been cold, misty and moisty here in Bree for the best part of two weeks. The garden is so damp that i’m thinking of putting out duckboards, otherwise I shall sink in the mud if I go to use the outdoor privy. I might use Nob as a depth gauge – if he sinks out of sight, then I’ll know the mud is too deep for me.
November 30, 2014 at 7:06 pm #31663Strange, 1st day with good rain for past 3 monthes near my hobbit hole…Climate is getting evil.:o
December 2, 2014 at 9:06 pm #31691Huooommmm …. as nothing else is going on here I’d like to break one of my own rules … huomm … that is: never judge upon a figure before you hold it in yours hands …. rhôommm …. a moment ago I found this … hom …

huoooooommmm … I like that lad from the first glance … hom …. great sangarunya-figure, isn’t it?
December 2, 2014 at 10:22 pm #31692I have seen Sangarunya some time ago while it was still being sculpted , now that he is released I can see the details have improved.
the pose for this figurine is not a new one, BUT I must admit that the garb and carving details on his costume are very impressing and welcome. This character is from MERP universe, and he is depicted the same way he is described in the modules as well as with Angus McBride illustrations….
Personnaly I like it…. Indeed it is not a canon character… but it is a MERP official character which is “respectfully” rendered.
December 2, 2014 at 10:50 pm #31693Huommm … so it’s a “canon-MERP-(also based on some of Angus McBride’s illustrations) figure” … huoomm … so, as for Mithril-releases mind please, dear Master Gildor, that quite many of the “old-below-100-Mithril-figures” were based on MERP-ideas as you know … huommm … and many people still think that they’re fine figures … rhûommm … as for me I better prefer such MERP-ones (at least based on Mithril-production) providing new figures than having all them Gandalfs, Frodos, Sams, Aragorns, Witch-Kings, etc in weird, but different poses …. gruôm …
I guess you know what I mean …. huoommm …anyway, a bowl of that drinky-honey-coulored-non-rat-tailed-clear-clean-watery-liquid, please, Master Barliman … huom
December 2, 2014 at 11:27 pm #31694indeed indeed, and I fully agree too!!

As you can see, he wears a chainmail in both of them and the reason for that was than metal plates were completely impractical for the desert.
Yes, I know. Creative freedom…
December 3, 2014 at 7:00 am #31698I do not see plates anywhere. I like details on front very much.
December 3, 2014 at 7:23 am #31699By the way, it seems productions have truly restarted in Ireland.
Master Barliman ? Please offer breakfast to fellows here. My turn to use coiny things.Kschink…

December 3, 2014 at 11:07 am #31703I’n my opinion the Angus Mcbride Desing is more nice …but I like this miniature to much!! so finally the balance is positive to me….
As Mater Milo say…good news to know…in mithril company are working more hard doing more miniatures by month….these are great news!!! I hope we can see mor M series miniatures soon!!!December 3, 2014 at 11:18 am #31705And I hope to see pigs fly too (an old Bree saying).
December 3, 2014 at 1:29 pm #31707Barliman wrote:The plate elements can be seen at shoulder and elbow. Then the most likely explanation is that the more advanced races always had plate armour in Mithril, and this is just to make sure there is compatibility with that…
It’s always a case of what is deemed important.
Cheers
ThomasDecember 3, 2014 at 3:40 pm #31714numeroean descent , and high elven wear plate, that was the explanation provided by Mithril
this character is a black numenorean, thus a part of numenorean people, those wear plates, as well as Noldor.
non-dunadan/numenorean, or other elven races except Noldor, do not wear plate.
at least there is a logic behind it…
December 3, 2014 at 3:44 pm #31715Wrong though it is.
December 3, 2014 at 4:16 pm #31720wrong for tolkien canon, but true to what they have always done….
I know it is an eternal debate, but let’s take for examples illustrations from the Hildebrandt brothers, I find them really exagerated and too “light fantasy” for tolkien universe which is High Fantasy… but still they remain a piece of art
December 3, 2014 at 4:24 pm #31722… Again those irrelevant discussion …. guys … figuree is great…. for me…. much more than old lady with chickens … by the way is it here chicken some meat on the menu today Master Barliman … cheers …

Well, from what I see on picture, it seems only the elbow & arm are protected with plates.

Look on red circles, mail coat seems to be the armour.
I suggest we have the miniature in hands before entering this “plate” debate again.December 3, 2014 at 4:35 pm #31726Well said, sir Milo hobbit friend … please take one drink for you on my account … hick
