a mounted tree , how exotic the question is… what would his mount be ?
June 4, 2016 at 8:25 pm #34647Very robust, I’d imagine. Perhaps a horse-chestnut?
June 4, 2016 at 10:20 pm #34648huomm … ? … why do you always try to take me that seriously …. rhûoomm …
June 5, 2016 at 7:54 am #34649Quite the opposite. I never take you seriouslly at all!
June 5, 2016 at 1:16 pm #34650huoommm … that’s nearly one of the best ways to cope with trees in a tavern …. rhûooommm … er, I’d like to pay for the drinks for the customers being present today … huoomm … yes, I’ve got some of that coiny-things you’re keen on left, Master Barliman … huom … they’re for you … hom ! … why? … just have a look at the number of my entries here on the left … huomm and cheerioh-tidom-rhûom
June 5, 2016 at 9:53 pm #34657The tree has spoken!
June 6, 2016 at 1:50 pm #34660Rrrr, I am too late. Anyway, thanks for the expensive drink Master Barliman.
I will visit GF fourm to read everyone’s suggestion. I like the Elessar idea very much, and still wonder what else could be created…June 6, 2016 at 1:52 pm #34662… I hope Master innkeeper will create on delicious meal for two of us Master hobbit… cheers… !

June 9, 2016 at 12:17 am #34678huoommmmm …. in the ent I did not suggest that mounted tree, just not to scare you imagining that… rhûom … that one, of course would have been slightly a bit non-canonical, as we all know … huom … so I didn’t dare … rhuóm …
err, what about them dusty-trodden-unclean and flat furs just behind the threshold of the front door … huom? … I’ll take them with me now as they’re bit smelly and worn though some parts of them still sting … hooommmgromrhuôm …June 27, 2016 at 9:56 pm #34710well master Barliman i’m in desperate need of something strong to drink… the vote for this month is killing me.
While some may consider it like suspense over two good ideas they like, I see it the same way as when I’m about to bid on an ebay priceless and unique figurine… Either winning or loosing and you don’t know until the very end
I don’t hide you I’d be clearly disapointed to see the wainrider win, mainly because I am clearly certain that it won’t be rendered as a chariot but as a simple horseman like any other, which would make the result very “simple”…
If I had guarantees it would be rendered with a real chariot driver, rather than a mere easterling rider, I’d even vote for him and renounce my suggestion… but I am more than skeptical here, I simply don’t believe it will be, because it would require a full vignette… it would not fit the quantity of parts and sculpting allowed for “mounted months”…
well….. three days to go….
June 27, 2016 at 10:50 pm #34711Do you really think, that the pose of a mounted Wainrider is more simple as the post of a hero sitting on a
horse (as we have 37 of them!) named Aragorn in this case ??????????
Are you that kind of desperate for winning your entry, Master Gildor??????What is the problem with that Wainrider-suggestion?
June 28, 2016 at 7:31 am #34712No need to shout, Master Archer!
One “problem” (if it is one) with the Wainridre figure is that JRRT describes the Wainriders as having “chieftains in chariots”, so I can see Master Gildor’s point. Either way, it’s up to members what they’d like to see available in the range, and we’re never all going to want the same thing.
I’m sure that a Wainrider will be suggested again if he loses!
June 28, 2016 at 10:51 am #34713well I’ll try to illustrate what I mean (not easy to find pics on the net)
wainriders (as the name indicates) are chariot riders, not horsemen, they don’t ride on back of horse they “drive” horses from a chariot behind horse, like the Scythians or Hamaxobioi in Greece
this means it is not a horsmen that would depict a wainrider but a chariot driver (like in Ben Hur)
Some Variags also used chariots, inspired by their eastern neighbours ‘wainriders’, here is an illustration :

a wainrider that would be a simple horseman would be called……….. An Easterling Wainriders belong to the “easterling ethnic group”, their particularity is in their culture , they “ride chariot”, that’s why they are called this way, not because of their geographical origin… “The Wainriders were a people, or confederacy, of Men from the East. They journeyed in great wagons, and their chieftains rode chariots in battle. They camped in fortified camps of wagons” (LOTR Appendix A)
Sculpting something like this would be GREAT, but it would require a vignette or a boxed set… it is not in the scale of a simple horseman. I deeply encourage our dear master Ent, if this suggestion win, to convince and be ‘firm’ in email exchanges with Chris that it HAS to be a chariot rider and not a horseman, no matter the increase in cost (I am willing to pay €60 for such a figure but I’d really be annoyed to have ‘yet another simple anonymous oriental horseman’ )
June 28, 2016 at 11:03 am #34714That’s certainly what a Wainrider figure needs to be, but I hate to imagine what a Mithril Fellowship chariot set would cost!
June 28, 2016 at 1:01 pm #34715oh well, with those new 3D printing technology i don’t think it would cost that much actually (it could a single horse chariot with a single rider
Still it would be in the range of a vignette, 60-70€… but why not ? it’s been seen in the past that “dual months” transformed into wonderful vignettes, see Beregond & Pippin against Olog-Hai, it’s a good example…and as i see that Aragorn is now taking the direction to loose…. I took the freedom to copy my earlier post on the official board as I really think people should be aware or vote knowingly, and also for Michael and Chris to consider the outcome of a winning wainrider…
It would not be the first time alas that we are disapointed about the final aspect of a great winning suggestion
June 28, 2016 at 4:50 pm #34716well it seems the victor is now obvious, Aragorn lost again for the fourth time…
I don’t think I’ll resubmit it, four times in more than three years is far enough…
what pains me is that it ends with less votes than what it had first gathered, which means there are people who retracted their vote , because of what I said, or anything ? This really saddens me…
I’ll ask Chris eventually if he is interested to make this character unofficially outside of the Gold Fellowship and even outside Mithril if need be.
I must be honest Turambar, for me this opportunity and this “desire” to see Elessar mounted is/was similar to a Prince Imrahil… It’s just I could never afford an MX It’s not the desire to win… I don’t care about who takes the credit, it’s the desire to have it in the range. For you it’s Easterlings, well be happy, you’ll have a great Easterling horseman
June 28, 2016 at 4:55 pm #34717You should re-submit the idea again at some point, Master Elf. I seem to recall that my Elfhelm suggestion only finally won on its fifth or sixth outing (or maybe it only seeemd that long!).
June 28, 2016 at 4:58 pm #34718If I resubmit it , it will be in private, to Chris… The choice to have it released as a special/regular will be his… I won’t put it to the community vote again… not after how this voting unfurled
but please, feel free to submit it again yourself in ten months or so when a new mounted month happens….
as a little reminder
I submitted “the Crowning of Elessar” as a vignette (when vignettes were still possible)
– january 2006 -> lost
– may 2006 -> lost
– august 2006 -> lost
– march 2007 -> lost
– sept 2007 -> lost
– oct 2011 -> lostthen with lack of vignettes i thought mounted months could be fine for something in the same “mood”
“King Elessar at the black Gate”
– july 2014 -> lost
– november 2014 -> lost
– june 2016 -> apparently lost(well I thought it was fourth it’s only third, but as Elessar as a king has been in my minde for…. TEN years now, without any success I mixed up ideas…. all in all, I’ve submitted Elessar suggestions 9 times, and nine times it was well places in first votes but always losing the second round…
resubmitting it? … I’m not sure no
June 28, 2016 at 10:08 pm #34719If all your entries lose this way you should overthink your suggestions, I suppose . . .
Concerning that illustration: the Games Workshop Box-set, which I posses once upon a time- until I found out that it do NOT fit to the mithril-style . . .
The rest parts of the chariot are inside the diorama of the the Christmas-Figure-Chieftain of mine.
Nevertheless a great illustration!!!!!! Still have the original BOX ART!And something last: your effort in argue against that Wainrider-suggestion is amazing, Master Gildor. But for me a bit rediculous.
So sorry indeed for telling that, but that´s my oppinion and as you, I feel free to tell my oppinion.And I am not shouting, Master Barliman, I am twittering . . .
