“Horizontally challenged”, Master Tree, not “vertically sized”! You’ve been drinking too many bowls of, er, water. Again.
July 2, 2009 at 6:53 pm #5991Huooommmm … no,ney never, I’ll do anymore … playing the wild rover … ya know … ney never, no more … rhuoommm … besides, you were absolutely right about dimensions, Master Barliman …. and besides so far I did not receive any of that bowls being promised … furthermore I don’t wish to know what gives the essence of your liquid …. huoomm … anyway … rhuoommm … have a nice evening with your regulars … huoomm … I have to go now because of some dwarven initiative … rhuoommm … no time to spend, no time to bend … alas, who was it, telling me that … rhuoommm … I cannot recall …. huoommrhuom
July 2, 2009 at 8:15 pm #5992Congrats then to ‘Lardo’
, a drink to celebrate, or two, and just to get in the party spirit some cakes and grub as well!
“I went to an ale-house I used to frequent, and I told Old Barli my money was spent, I asked hm for credit he answered me nay, for it’s credit like yours I can get any day…..”, I think that is where your chorus comes in Master Ent
July 2, 2009 at 10:15 pm #5993Huoommm …. OH ney, never, will I play the wild rover … NO NEVER NO more …
rhuoommm … thank you for taking part in that that good old song … rhuommm …
though I do remember another one starting with words like …. huoommm … some Scottish melody, as “Should all …” ..rhuoomm you know that ‘Old Lang Syne’ …
Huoommm … anyway … let’s have a toast I learned from our Irish friends:
… Huoommm .. ahem …
May the face of every good news
And the back of every bad news
Be towards us …
(Sorry, my Gaelic has become a bit disused … so I used that English tongue … rhuomm …July 2, 2009 at 10:36 pm #5994Huoommm, no, nay, never … rhuuommmtooommtidom … I will play the wild rover, no, never, no more … ahem … and it’s “No, ney never …”
To be honest about this … I dunno …
Rhuoomm … but in between I found a very nice translation of a Celtic toast:
May you have foot and raiment
a soft pillow for your head
May you be forty years in heaven
Before the devil knows you’re dead!Nice one, isnt it? rhuooommmm
July 2, 2009 at 10:45 pm #5995Yes it is, Master Theobald, it is.
July 3, 2009 at 9:07 am #5996Huoooommmm … methinks it’s time that our barkeep might offer a bowl of some of that liquid for free … rhuoomm … wasn’t it him (the barkeep, not the bowl) who suggested that fat Dwarf that won the race? … huoomm … huoommmm … I’m just thinking about Master Barliman having to win that race himself … hom … he’s not hasty, you know … rhuoommm … anyway … congrats …
July 3, 2009 at 9:17 am #5997I keep on offering free bowls (tankards, mugs, or whatever receptacle tickles your particular fancy) to celebrate the rotund gentelman’s victory, but there have been very few takers.
I notice that – as usual – there were a couple of votes placed well after the deadline, but since they were both for Bombur anyway that didn’t make any difference to the end result.

While some months have been “cast” votes from other members …..
July 3, 2009 at 9:47 am #5999Why do you think that? Do Michael and The Man actually vote?
July 3, 2009 at 9:56 am #6000Well, I don´t know, it has also been coincidence, but a few months, just as Michael closes the vote appears a vote more. Anyway, they are also members of the GF, isn´t it?
July 3, 2009 at 10:08 am #6001True enough.
July 3, 2009 at 11:54 pm #6002Rhuuooommm … may I have a bowl of liquid, please … Master Barliman … rhuoommm … I came a long way … huoomm hasty I was indeed … I met them Bifor, Bofur and Bombur … rhuomm … lately … rhuomm … all I can tell is that they’re well …. huomm … and a lot of homour is being taken care of … rhuomhuommhom
July 4, 2009 at 5:14 am #6003I shall be very interested to meet them in due time. How are their friends?
July 4, 2009 at 10:46 am #6004Huoommm … yes, in due time you said and were right … rhuoommm … well about them friends I don’t know exactly … rhuoomm huomm … the last thing I remember before I left was that Master Thorin was smoking a pipe together with some grey-haired pipe-smoker … huoomm … but, alas, I told you that I was hasting here … that’s why I didn’t have a close look around there … rhuoommm … ahem, as for that bowl I dared to ask for … ahem … sorry … rhuoomm … me throat has become dry hasting all that long way to here … huoommm
July 5, 2009 at 11:34 pm #6018And now I randomly announce the completion of part one of my Battle of Mirkwood project. I’ve just completed painting the final 13 orcs for the 40-some-odd Dol Guldur Orc warparty. That means I have about 60 or 70 orcs to assail my Woodmen warband. The last 13 orcs were Prince August orcs. I am using them as placeholders until we see more Isengard orcs, at which point I’ll retire the PA ones and give the Isengarders the Dol Guldur shields.
Next up (when I get back to it, that is) Celeborn’s household – a band of unarmoured Lorien elves. These will face a warband of Hithaeglir orcs.
Then, or maybe at the same time, Thranduil’s army – a heavily armoured Sindarin infantry force supported by a force of thirty or so Wood Elves supported by Heladil’s Uialacu (a nine man band of elf scouts who guard the frontiers of the Elven King’s realm).
After that – Beornings, more heroes, more orcs and sometime next year, an army of Dale.
Tired thinking about it.
But first, I want to finish up this highly annoying Rohan battle company consisting of rather too many GW plastics. Then some Rangers of the North from the same company. I might just paint the Hithaeglir orcs for one or other of them to fight while I’m at it.

July 6, 2009 at 7:19 am #6020There are great projects to wait for, Gavin . . .
July 6, 2009 at 2:07 pm #6022Go look in the gallery section for some of the initial pictures. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to take more photos today.
Beyond that…
I see there’s a Helm’s Deep recall in effect, and anyone who doesn’t like the “quality” (by which I take to mean the undercoating) can return the figures.
Anyone going to take them up on it?
Gavin
July 6, 2009 at 2:12 pm #6023A bit late – I’ve already stripped the undercoat off mine. It’s amazing how much more detail there is than was first apparent! Still, a good PR decision on Mithril’s part – though I wish they’d recall the prices too…
July 6, 2009 at 3:15 pm #6024You speak out my thoughts, Master Barliman. A bit late, you say it right. In this particular case I am not sure what to think. I feel a little bit teased . . .
I also stripped the primer off mine, and that was hell. I told it before.
But- let us believe in the good will of that company. It is a gentle signal, isn´t it . . .
PS: but somebody should inform master Michael, that the fellowship miniatures´primer is not in better condition . . . -
