Oh yes, master Barli, I am here. But what of Nob, I asked him to fetch me a little more Southfarthing leaf for my pipe hours ago and haven’t seen him since. Did you waylay my little errand-hobbit and put him out in the stables cleaning up the, err, you know what?
July 11, 2009 at 6:09 pm #6073Huoommm … you see … hom … that’s what I just said … there’s three in here …huoommm
And please, Master Barliman, don’t forget that bowl for me tree … rhuoommJuly 11, 2009 at 6:27 pm #6074I hope you didn’t give Nob any money, Master Ranger. If you did, it’ll be a week at least before we see him. He’s probably out buying lottery tickets, ice creams and acne ointmnent – unless you gave him a HUGE sum of money, of course, in which case he’s probably deciding which Mithril figure to buy
July 12, 2009 at 3:29 am #6076Well Master Innkeeper, I didn’t offer Nob money; if I had any money I’d pay off my tab. Although I know that you know that the the services I provide (i.e. keeping the Orcs, Goblins and Trolls away from the Pony, being the “muscle” when a party of Dwarves stop by, etc . . .) should keep me in weed and ale the rest of my life!
July 12, 2009 at 6:08 am #6077Do you earn it, though? The Dwarves at least aren’t scared of you – since they’ve never seen you standing up I’m pretty sure they all think you’re just another Dwarf.
July 13, 2009 at 5:08 am #6083OK, the dwarves are hardly ever a problem (but when they are, oh, what a problem), but I do earn it, if only for the orcs!
As far as standing up is concerned, I do often. And since Nob hasn’t come back with my leaf, I am going in search of some myself.
Time to clear the area about the Pony again, although the propriator has no idea of the creatures within a days march of him.
July 14, 2009 at 1:45 pm #6087Huooommmm … I just received those two new MS-figures … hom …. and still I am very much undecided about the primer-problem …. rhuoommm … Bert still has that much too smooth and shiny surface some of us complained about some time ago … huoommmm …. the primer used with the Bard-figure obviously is of a better quality … hooommm … you can see all those details at once and they are what I think makes this piece of metal a marvellous figure …. rhuoommm
July 14, 2009 at 2:08 pm #6088I must get round to ordering some more MS figures soon – once my impecunious situation has improved somewhat. I’m certainly looking forward to Bard. I haven’t ordered Tom, Dick or Harry yet (sorry, it’s a Bree joke – Master Dave will understand), and I’m still not sure if I will.
July 14, 2009 at 9:26 pm #6089Rhuoommhuomm … whatever that ‘impecunious situation’ is … rhuoomm … at least it sounds good to me … rhuoommm … nice words anyway …. huooommm …
In fact I cannot understand that ‘Bree joke’ … rhuomm huom … but soon enough you’ll be able to understand a ‘Tree-joke’ … rhuommhuoomm … homJuly 15, 2009 at 5:03 am #6090I’m sure I’ll twig what you mean eventually.
July 15, 2009 at 12:21 pm #6091Huooommm … don’t worry, Master Barliman, I was just practising human sounds again … huommm … that does not necessarily mean that there’s any sense in it … huommm … just thought I might do it here as there seemed to be no one around … huommmm …
July 15, 2009 at 4:29 pm #6095Huooommmmm … sorry it’s me again, but I have to get rid of my anger right now … huomm…
my first impression and suspicion of that Bert-figure was absolutely right …. huom … I just tried to assemble it and found out that all those parts (body and two arms) are literally smeared with this slimy stuff they call primer … huom … no chance … rhuoommm … so the only thing you can do is to throw the parts into a certain liquid to strip off that d****d stuff or re-sculpt the figure yourself …. this is more than just annoying … huommm … and I’m more than angry …
let’s hope that it was me who received the last figure provided with that “wonderful new primer” as Master O’Brian called it some time ago … rhuoommmhuommm … I wouldn’t mind to prime him too with that thick pasty stuff …. alas … so, that’s it …. rhuooommmJuly 15, 2009 at 4:33 pm #6096It’s a shame that Mithril didn’t announce a ‘recall’ on the MS figures as well as the Helm’s Deep ones, as someone else rightly suggested they should have (was it Dave?). Another PR failure to chalk up. But try not to get too irritated, Master Tree – that’s a sign of hastiness…
July 15, 2009 at 6:37 pm #6097Huoommmm …. me, tree, irritated ? … not at all, Master Barliman, not at all, I said … rhuoommm … I was just complaining about what I found between me twigs, you know … huom … okidoke, with some further green stuff being added at certain parts and some additional dis-priming and re-priming to be done all these problems can be solved, of course … rhuoommm … but those d****d procedures just take time, you know … alas …
never mind, Master Barliman, haste I will not … rhuoomm … at the moment I’m trying to haste a parcel, but still it doesn’t move …. huoooommmmrhuoommJuly 15, 2009 at 8:00 pm #6098Well a box of goodies arrived today with the Gamling mob, Tom (to go with Dick and Harry
), Bard, the remaining Dol Amroth dudes and the Arnor knight. I have been saving me pennies, not winning any lotteries!
Primer! well I’m assuming Gamling and Co. have been primed with the improved version of the grey custard as it does appear that the details are ok, the mail may have suffered, but looks ok. Yes it is definately a different stuff with a smoothness and shine that does not appear on the Dol Amroth figures and the Arnor knight all of which have a more matt finish primer. As I only recently ordered these figures I assume the primer problem had been sorted.
Tom has at the moment stuck together with no problem, I seem not to have suffered the unfortunate problems of Master Theobald, although some filler will be required on the arm joins.
Well the figures themselves. I like them very much, nice facial details, CT makes it seem so easy to reproduce faces in miniature, Bard is a great figure and good to see that he has not missed the detail of an empty quiver; I know it makes a point of stating this in the book, but some sculptors not in tune would have missed this and added some arrows I’m sure.
Tom compliments the other two trolls very nicely, and the Arnor Knight reminds me of some of my favourite early pieces.
Anyhow, best get Tom, Dick and Harry sorted, but a few drinks before hand perhaps.
July 15, 2009 at 8:24 pm #6099Your last comment is contradictory, Master Dave. There’s no way you’ll get anything sorted afterr a few of my drinks.
I’m looking forward to the Bard figure in due course, but as I said, my jury (of bankers) is still out on whether I shall get the troll trio.
July 15, 2009 at 10:17 pm #6100Huooommmm … yes, Master Ddaines, that’s what I did in the last hours … rhuoomm … giving some filler into those joints you mentioned … alas .. that means I can start priming those parts not until tomorrow again … rhuoommm …
huommm … as for you, Master Barliman, I really can assure that it’s worth spending some coiny things for that ‘troll-trio’ … rhuoomm it’s absolutely worth it … huom … methinks … and by the by they’re part of that Hobbit-book … rhuoommhuomJuly 16, 2009 at 5:57 am #6101Plague of the witch King????
I am impressed, surprised in a very negative way: a GF-member has done it again and suggested another witch king. It was just a humorous remark of mine in the Mithril forum (if no one wants to suggest another witch king). DAMN!! If this figure will win, I will surely put my interest away. This suggestion is ridiculous and stupid, non creative and to me a disregard of the creativitiy and great suggestions of all the other members. And we still had an M3, witch king on horse and some vignette and several witch kings on foot still available!!!!!
The witch king is one of the most fascinating characters and an inflation of miniatures is no good!
Does anyone of you, nice folk in the Pony think, there would be a chance to ask Chris if this continous witch king plaque could be stopped??
It is not helpful for Mithril to produce 10.000.0000 witch king versions. Who needs anything like that need? Mithril is not GW, who like to produce sligktly different Gandalfs, witch kings and so on.
AND: Do you think the Dark Lord of Mordor will watch anyone having more Nazguls than himself??Cheers!! And a round please for all who are disgusted like me. Please master Barliman,
let me have a strong and cold drink.July 16, 2009 at 6:09 am #6102I think you mean a ‘plague’ (the old Bree expression ‘minding your ps and qs’ comes to mind). Anyway, I certainly shan’t vote for yet another Witchking, and I doubt that he’ll win, so never fear, Master Estel.
July 16, 2009 at 8:05 am #6103People are free to suggest whatever they like.
BUT: Certainly, you are completelly right, Master Estel ! In all you said. Intelligence become more and more rare in our times . . .
There is a very simple solution: not voting for this Whitch King ! -
