They look just like the three million leaves Mrs B has just swept into a heap out in the yard and the wind has just scattered everywhere all over again…Sort of, um, leaf-shaped.

Or in the aftermath of such an occurrence.Interesting findings – also a timeline concerning those characters might be very useful, to prevent utter confusion.

That, indeed, was my plan. It does make sense that different characters with the same name keep cropping up: how many King Henrys have there been in European history?
It’s just the Brythonic name “Broggha” is easily confused for Bruggha, and neither are familiar to us, the reader. Far too easier to mix the blighters up.

October 25, 2009 at 6:13 pm #7538Thanks Dave! Very helpful (and very different from the movie)!
October 25, 2009 at 8:49 pm #7539I look forward to seeing the end result Wendy, very curious
October 27, 2009 at 7:26 pm #7570Huooommmm … alas … I’m back again … rhuoommm … just placed some more pictures of them dwarven chaos in the Mathom House … trodding back in the mud on the way back here … rhuoommm … leaving leaves on my way back so that you, Master Barliman don’t have to complain again about leaves being left within these premises … huomhomhom … those always were left to Mrs B to cope with … huommm
so, for the first time, Master Barliman, may I ask you to warm that bowl and the water within it, please? … rhuoomm … somehow, suddenly it has become colder again outside, meseems … rhuoomm …
yes, sorry, I will clean them wargskins again this year … but I cannot haste everything, as you might know … rhuoommmOctober 27, 2009 at 7:52 pm #7571And in other news, my Helm’s Deep Rohirrim warriors arrived today (and Theodred, and some paints)
And my word that undercoat is vile crud. Off to the stripping pot the lot of them. Which is grand – this year has been slow going with painting.

October 27, 2009 at 9:22 pm #7572So, this is your first experience of the undercoat crud, then, Master Gavin? Ah, you don’t know what you’ve been missing. I think Mithril may have actually been using Irish Stew to coat them at the time. But hey, are they still using the same vile mixture, or have they changed supplier and/or recipe yet? I’ve not ordered any figures from them since all the hoo-hah ended, so I’m not sure what the situation is as of now.
But I suppose I shall have to order some figures soon, just to ensure that I don’t need to order a lot of my obligatory MS quota all at once and have to hock an arm or leg to pay for them.
October 28, 2009 at 2:36 am #7576Well, I haven’t ordered any of the last ten Fellowship figures, so I have no idea.
The goop is thick, shiny and a bit slippery. I am less than convinced you could actually paint on that stuff. So into the stripping jar it went.
The figures look good though.
October 28, 2009 at 3:01 am #7577So what’s the story with Tengwar? I got 5 issues that were printed untold centuries ago. I think they were done on a typewriter.

Have there been any published since then?
October 28, 2009 at 6:15 am #7578Sadly not, Master OA – the issues that come when you buy Fellowship membership are all that there ever were or ever will be. And they are indeed centuries old. It’s a shame that publication faltered and died, because it was a super ‘magazine’, well illustrated, and well written by John Treadaway.
October 28, 2009 at 8:46 am #7579Yes, and an excellent guide for the Mithril´s collector. There I learned the story about mold of female M16
October 28, 2009 at 8:52 pm #7582I offered to help put together a Tengwar 2, but nothing came of it, alas.
October 29, 2009 at 7:02 am #7584It all has to do with ‘filthy lucre’, I would imagine – Mithril would have to spend money to produce it, and it would earn them none. They might be wrong on that score, of course – it’s always possible that some people would join the Fellowship just to get such a fine magazine, but that’s a gamble Lars clearly wasn’t prepared to take.
October 29, 2009 at 4:33 pm #7586So let´s do it for ourselves!

There is such a talented writer in our member pool. I remember his name: it is GAVIN 😎
Others should be found . . .October 29, 2009 at 4:35 pm #7587October 29, 2009 at 4:41 pm #7588Very nice. You can actually (or at least, could) get a Moria West Gate model (though called by another name for copyright reasons!) from Thomarillion, but it may have been discontinued. Might be worth checking.
October 31, 2009 at 3:22 pm #7593My friends. I don’t know how to proceed on my Mithril collection. Right now I only have about 50 figures. I also have EBAY bids on some other goodies – I’ll let you know how that goes.
So my question: How did most of you build your collection? Especially for someone like me starting so “late” in the series.
My thought is that I should buy the Fellowship figure each month, and also start buying “current” releases as they are issued. But I’m not sure how to build up my collection of previously issued models.
Should I complete one “series” at a time, or perhaps focus on rarer models, or focus on just the figures that I visually enjoy? I’m thinking about alternating: maybe I’ll first find a series I really enjoy and acquire that whole series, then I’ll take a turn collecting a couple of rarer figures.
You can see I don’t have a good plan. And I don’t know what the best sequence is.
Since I am the only working member of my family, I can’t spend $1,000 every month on models!
Maybe $150 or so..Any thoughts?
Sincerely,
-Befuddled in BreeOctober 31, 2009 at 4:24 pm #7594Start with the minis you like most. Everthing else wouldn’t make sense for me.
October 31, 2009 at 6:10 pm #7595…. just try to find some rare models on eBay…. and slowly every month buy one of the fellowship and few of the current releases… that’s no so expensive… If I’ll find something I will inform you or I’ll send you… 😆
October 31, 2009 at 9:11 pm #7597I agree with Holger! You must start with the figurines you like the most!
indeed there are rarer figurines but even among them there are some which you’ll find beautiful and others less attractive.
A collection is not only filling “holes” it’s also and mainly having the pieces you like the most in the whole collection…about releases, you should mainly focus on “limited” series and the regular/unlimited ones are less important because you can always buy them later… thats indeed not the case with MX and some MS…
