Rhuooommmm … Tengwar that was … I do remember well … there you find the ideas for some of that ‘Saruman’s Army’ figures … but lately they were provided and now they are all gone …
Rhuoommm … Master OriginalAragorn, there’s no help I can give about how to collect – or who to collect … (mind the slight turn of letters) … the comments from Master Hsf62 and our Elf were wise … rhuoomm … that matches the advice I could have given to you ….huooommm.

George, I personally am not going to get every mithril figure made, only the ones I want. Some get everyone and really it is up to you as to what you are interested in.

I am getting mine for mainly wargaming purposes and a few that I personally like. Everyone has their own way of collecting. If I have something that you are looking for too, maybe I send it your way as well. Good luck in what you decide to do.:D

…alas… rhuoomm … I had them dumb wargskinny-doormats cleaned by now … Mster Barliman … I dumped them down right in here at the threshold … alas, I dunno what thresh holds … rhuoommm … but there’s sense in it … so, what about a tiny bowl of that watery liquid for me? … ney, not the one with rat-tails …. oh by the by, are you in need of some pumpkins?

The tails just give it extra body, Master Tree. And er, no, up to my eyeballs in pumpkins, and they don’t brew well – believe me, I’ve tried. Thanks for the doormats….

rhuoommm … thank you very much for the bowl of water … huoommm … the one without rat-tails … rhuommm … I didn’t ask for them strong liquids … and to be honest, I never ever found away ( means a way ) how to get rid of them … tails-in-the-brew … you know? …
Never mind, Master Barliman, about them doormats being cleaned … I’m used to it by now … whenever leaves leave before they fall <-- [autumn ...huoomm ... ?] it causes me to clean them trodden doormats again ... rhuoommm ... huoommm ... hommm ... well, I prefer to name them door-mates, as they seem to be some kind of resistant to me ... rhuoomm ... though clean they are again ....
As for the dormatory you mentioned … rhuoommm … I can understand well.

My friends. I don’t know how to proceed on my Mithril collection. Right now I only have about 50 figures. I also have EBAY bids on some other goodies – I’ll let you know how that goes.

So my question: How did most of you build your collection? Especially for someone like me starting so “late” in the series.

My thought is that I should buy the Fellowship figure each month, and also start buying “current” releases as they are issued. But I’m not sure how to build up my collection of previously issued models.

Should I complete one “series” at a time, or perhaps focus on rarer models, or focus on just the figures that I visually enjoy? I’m thinking about alternating: maybe I’ll first find a series I really enjoy and acquire that whole series, then I’ll take a turn collecting a couple of rarer figures.

You can see I don’t have a good plan. And I don’t know what the best sequence is.

Since I am the only working member of my family, I can’t spend $1,000 every month on models! :D Maybe $150 or so..

                  Any thoughts?

                  Sincerely,
                  -Befuddled in Bree

Well, on Ebay, sooner or later, It appear almost all the references. With patience you can gradually go complete the collection. If it’s any help, I took about two years researching and buying on Ebay references that I missed from my old collection. And since I have little to complete the collection!

Actually, one idea is to steal an idea from the Games Workshop crowd.

Collect by theme (as opposed to army).

What sort of thing would you like to own? A wonderful diorama of the Battle of the Five Armies? The grey company defending Eriador? Erkenbrand’s warriors fighting for Helm’s Deep and the Westfold?

Stick with that for a few months, bid on ebay based on that, trade based on that. Once you’ve completed your theme, decide what you’d like your next theme to be.

Thanks everyone! Those are all good ideas. :) I’ll start looking at models that are aesthetically pleasing to me as well as themes I enjoy!

I posted on the Marketplace of Tharbad forum about winning an ebay auction for a large group of mithrils. I can’t tell which ones they are. I’ll have to wait until they arrive. Maybe that will help me decide upon a theme.

By the way, I noticed that Prince Imrahil was born in 2955, yet the War of the Ring wasn’t until 3019.

That would make him 64, which was quite old for a human.

So why is he always depicted as a young man (maybe in his 30’s or 40’s) by most sculptors? I guess it’s more good looking that way!

                        Am I missing something here?

Our entire western civilization is based on the new economy cult of young people….stallion syndrome …..if the Japanese are doing it, probably would have been portrayed as a wise warrior. With a beard and wrinkles. As true character as is interpreted in the novel…

Imrahil, like Aragorn, is pure blooded Dunedain. He’s even got Elf blood in his veins someplace. And he’s a ways younger than Aragorn. So it makes sense for him to be portrayed as somewhat youthful.

I know. I should check, but is this Broggha a new pose of the Hillman king from the Arnorian Knight set?

                                    Interesting if it was.

Just seen the Newsletter, Master Tree, and must say that the Unexpected Party MX looks…. well, sensational barely does it justice. Truly remarkable! I think that all Mithril collectors are forever in Master Theobald’s debt even more than they were before. I don’t know how much it’s going to cost, but I shall somehow have to scrape the cash together regardless. Perhaps I could sell Mrs B? Or Nob, maybe (though I wouldn’t get much for him…).

Huoommm … Master Gavin, I just had a look at the King of the Arnorian-vignette …. rhuoommm … this one is absolutely different … rhuomm … age, garment, hairs, insignia, etc …
before I was just referring to that Bralg holding up a head in front of his eyes … rhuoommm … strange customs they had some years ago … rhuoommm … in fact the hexagonal base will mark him again as a Christmas figure as this will be the third one in that tiny size … rhuoommm …
I’m really looking forward to that king … ahem … well, how to say? … rhuoomm … alas … huomm … again … rhuoomm … ahem … well, you see … me? tree? … no … rhuoomm … again … hmmm … “Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears; …” … wrong text that is, isn’t it? … the one from Marc … alas .. well … rhuoommm … I might just leave it up to that and be silent …. rhuoommm … just a try, you know … just a try … but didn’t Brutus place the words the other way round …. I dunno … long time ago … some hassle there was before … rhuoomm

You know what’s strange? I think one of Mr. Tubbs’ least satisfying sculpts are of Strider/Aragorn. I haven’t really seen any that I’m a big fan of. His hair seems too short, his face too clean shaven, and his limbs too thick. For a wild ranger, I’d expect long hair, a beard, and a lanky, sinewy build.

Of course, I am not qualified to give this opinion. It’s just my thoughts.

And I love most of the Mithril figures, so please don’t think I’m being critical of his overall body of work -which is wonderful.
