Does that mean you have now received it? Good news indeed if so. I am still waiting to hear from Mithril, about my UP (Unexpected Package ), but I gather Helen is off sick, so hopefully I will get some direction soon.
Well, with Easter soon upon us I guess a flagon of your finest would be in order Master Barliman just to lubricate the path of the chocolate eggs that I hope will come my way (some hope – the eggs I mean
).Anyhow, a good night to all, and unless some last minute voting came along, I guess it is congratulations to Gavin for his Elven Bard who seemed to have been first past the post; perhaps he may wander in here at some stage to play us a tune or two
.On the subject of GF releases, anyone dissapointed with Gandalf and Gwahir being separate rather than combined figures? (I can’t recall who won with this suggestion).
I’m easy which ever way, but I rather thought the intention was to have Gandalf being carried.
March 31, 2010 at 10:21 pm #9264well I had first submitted Gandalf flying on Gwaihir back.. which had been declined…. then I had supported the idea of a gandalf on the back of a Gwaihir with folded wings… and once again… dismissed…
I suppose we’ll have to make do… the scales of Mithril Eagles is too small to allow for human size people to be on their back without being totally odd or unfitting… I understand that…
(the same way that the Mithril Mumak is too small for all the characters on its back…making it look like a mumak baby )
March 31, 2010 at 11:18 pm #9265I would /love/ to see a redesign of the Mithril eagles, making them something more akin to the Ebob miniatures Giant Eagles. Something big and dynamic.
The Mithril mumak is really…a Indian war elephant type of thing, with a howda on top for a couple of riders. Just like in real life. The At-At walker things are more of a movie invention.
Anyway, I’m dead happy with the Elf Bard. Means Gallind (from the old LOR adventure game) is now represented (or representable) in the “flesh” especially with a new Middle-earth RPG coming out.
I do so hope that Mithril does something about this new game, I must say.
April 1, 2010 at 6:27 am #9266The Gwaihir/Gandalf compromise demonstrates all too clearly that the Mithril eagles were too small from the outset (with which we’ve long since had to come to terms), and a new “Gandalf on Gwaihir” figure would have been an ideal opportunity to correct this flaw in the range. After all, the earlier eagles were released back in the mists of time, and are no linger really relevant.
As the tree might put it, “Ho-hummmmmmmm.”
April 1, 2010 at 12:59 pm #9267Perhaps its something we should make a fuss about?
Maybe for an “MB” boxed set?
The Giant Eagles of the Misty Mountains!
April 1, 2010 at 1:17 pm #9269Good idea.
It seems to me that another instance has arisen here of the tail wagging the dog, if you see what I mean. Surely the point of the Fellowship figures is that we get what WE want? By this I don’t mean that Chris’s or Mithril’s views should be steamrollered, but rather that there should be some sort of process via which issues of this sort could be negotiatedand and agreed between the month’s “winner” and Chris/Mithril, rather than the decision being presented as a fait accompli without any prior discussion taking place. What think you?
April 1, 2010 at 2:14 pm #9270Huoommmrhuoomm … eagles? … four of them still s(h)it on me branches, if you know what I mean … huoomm … and, alas, what think me, tree? … rhuoomm … I’ll have to consider my thoughts about that entirely … rhuoommm … hoomm … that will take some time … more or less … huoommrhuoommm …
as for a side note Master Barliman tried to quote me …. rhuoom … I cannot remember having used that “Ho-hummmmmmmm”-sound here ever … rhuoomm … though there’s some Entish touch to it … hommm …April 2, 2010 at 2:10 pm #9283Huoommm … sorry, but I need a drink now … it took me hours over there in the Mathom House to hang up new pigs .. huom? … no, pics, they were, I think … anyway, I managed somehow … so let me calm down a bit here, Master Barliman, having a bowl as there’s no better place in Bree to relax … huoommm …
April 2, 2010 at 2:31 pm #9284Indeed, I hope they weren’t pigs – they certainly don’t look like pigs – though they may be jpigs (or is that jpegs?).
This masterpiece is something you should be very proud of. It simply would not exist without you. For that, you’re welcome to hang the odd pig on the walls if that’s what you like to do for relaxation.
April 2, 2010 at 2:43 pm #9285Huooommmm … thank you, Master Barliman, for your kind words … rhuooommm … but as for relaxation I would rather prefer to go outside after this drink and clean the doormats … rhuom
April 2, 2010 at 4:02 pm #9292Its friday, very rich week indeed…
Need a good bitter please master Barliman!April 2, 2010 at 4:25 pm #9293So do I. Unfortunately I’m not sure we’ve got any. But I do have this fine barrel of maturing scrumpy – do you fancy risking a pint of that? I’d like to say I recommend it, but I’d be less than honest if I did. It will certainly put hairs on your feet, though.
April 3, 2010 at 7:50 pm #9307I’m glad to hear your thoughts, Master Estel – because I thought the very same thing when I first saw him! To be honest, the very first thing I thought was “Just another Elf!” Not too sure what I’d been expecting, but I suppose I’d been hoping for something, well, more special. A nicely enough designed figures, but all in all what I first thought still applies – just another Elf.
Perhaps the sheer brilliance of the UP set has simply spoilt me for all other Mithrils that I ever see from now on!
April 3, 2010 at 9:04 pm #9311Hi guys on my topic Master Aragorn… George has left information that his wife is about 5 months pregnant with a baby boy… so for his luck and for all best wishes I’ll order a 9 big barrels of beer to all of us in Pony…. one barrel for each month for all the best… and cheers and toast for master Original Aragorn…:lol::lol:
April 3, 2010 at 11:33 pm #9317Huoommm … that really is good news, Master Thingol. … huomm … I do mean the baby boy, not them barrels … rhuoommm …
wishing all the best for your lady and yourself, Master OriginalAragorn … rhuoommmm … though the boy will keep you from painting Mithrils permanently for a while … huoommm … our Elf here will confirm this … rhuoommm … anyway, I think it was a wise decision you took
April 3, 2010 at 11:47 pm #9318Thanks! I know we’ll be busy!
April 4, 2010 at 6:04 am #9319I think that from all the babies getting born over the past few months, Nob must be slipping something into the scrumpy that I don’t know about…
April 4, 2010 at 9:54 pm #9320Congratulations George, Best wishes to you and your wife! Kids do keep you busy, but you will find some time to yourself, and you will appreciate it very much.
April 5, 2010 at 10:04 am #9321you’re all too right master estel…
in the first months they spend their times “eating” and sleeping… but after the 5th month or so… mines is 8 months old… it is quite time consuming indeed
