Those Salute 08 wolfriders are nice to have, I have collected 24 of them. And those small shields are very useful, I have borrowed one for a conversion already. Perhaps I will make an Isengard wolfrider out of one of them. It would be nice if someone else made the round white hand shield to sell me.

Has anyone ever tried it?Well, Barliman, there was this one time out back of the pony… I can recall few of the details. I have the scars! Heck, you were there! It seemed like a good idea at the time, though:/ But on the topic: Those Salute wulfs are very nice and fairly cheap nowadays. They make excellent additions given the limited Mithril editions. I’d like to see some of yours Troy.
April 27, 2010 at 7:48 pm #9696Ah yes, I’d forgotten about that. I blame the scrumpy … both for our trying it in the first place and for having forgotten about it afterwards – but they made good rugs, didn’t they?
April 27, 2010 at 8:35 pm #9697Weirdly, it never occurred to me to collect more than the two or three “goblin chieftains” I have to create something else.
I assume there’ll still be a few “in the wild” later this year, early next year, when we have an idea what the rest of the Helm’s Deep M-series looks like. Then maybe I could convert and collect as many of the extant Mithril/Chris Tubb wolves and wargs and orcs to make an Isengard wolf-rider force.
April 28, 2010 at 2:08 am #9700While we are on the topic of what one can or cannot do with a large shield, regarding Gamling’s rally. “Orcs had crept like rate through the culvert through which the stream flowed out.” The wall was described as thick enough at the top for four men to walk abreast behind the bullwark, so that makes the culvert a fairly long tunnel flowing with water. Try crawling through that with a helmet, large shield, spear, banner and a long sword sheathed at your waist! These orcs should have been the smallest of the attacking forces, light infantry with short swords and small shields. There is a reason that armies equip some troops as heavies and some as light, each have there rolls to play. The same with wolfriders, some heavy some light.
April 28, 2010 at 7:39 am #9701I agree for the wolf riders… though we have currently 2 armored wolf riders and 2 light infantry existing (though one of them is rare, and another is VERY rare)
[mith]M314[/mith] (re-released as MC33)
[mith]M315[/mith] (discontinued and a bit rare)
[mith]PM496[/mith] (salute event 2008, uncommon)
and … [mith]M51[/mith] (discontinued AND very rare)(promotion — promotion — : I got surprised myself how it is easy to make advanced searches in this database engine : search for race=”orc” , type=”single(mounted)” and here we go, all the worf riders ever released appear… 5 references
April 29, 2010 at 8:57 am #9716Hi dear fellows,
As you know, birthdays are very important for my kind.
Today is my 37th birthday so I bring a present. Free ale during next 12 hours in our host inn.New pictures of my work will also be added in The Art Gallery of Mayor Samwise.
Take care and enjoy this with me !
MiloApril 29, 2010 at 9:15 am #9718Hey, who said you could give away my ale? I finds it hard enough to get anyone to pay for it in the first place. But Happy Birthday anyway, and just to prove I’m a reasonable fellow I’ll go along with your generosity this time – because the holiday mood has come upon me: I’m about to set off North for a couple of weeks in search of such exotic drinks as the Northmen imbibe.
Which means Nob will be in charge.
Which is not necessarily a good thing…
I’ll be back on 16 May. I hope you’ll all be good in the meantime.
April 29, 2010 at 9:30 am #9723Congratulations, dear Milo and enjoy your day! 😆 and thanks for the ale!
April 29, 2010 at 9:49 am #9726………………then Happy Birthday dear Milo… I wish you all the best…
April 29, 2010 at 10:17 am #9727and Happy Birthday dear Milo… well I think it’s time to ask Nob to fill our mugs with some of the “special brew” master Barliman is keeping in a secret room of his cellar…
you will ask how an elf like me can know about that… well master Butterbur may be the innkeeper of the inn, but didn’t I “build” it?
April 29, 2010 at 10:22 am #9728grmmff, and once again master Barliman is away and who has to do all the job… poor Nob, as always…
you wanted the special flagons master elf? they’re all yours! beware these are very strong spirits, imported at great price from the peoples of Far Harad and beyond the Sea of Rhûn!!
I’m not sure it’s for everyone’s tongue…
April 29, 2010 at 10:42 am #9729I’ve changed my mind. I’ll put Bob’s cat in charge instead.
April 29, 2010 at 11:14 am #9730Well Master Gildor, It seems you forgot to tell the Innkeeper and got him….upset?
But It’s true this spirit is quite nice. Still very expensive… (reminds me some 1988 christmas present).
Please fellows, do not empty my purse so quick otherwise I will not have anything left when Master Ent arrives.
And I guess a thirsty and upset Ent is something noone would like to see.Bonnes vacances Barliman !

April 29, 2010 at 11:56 am #9734Wow, there must have been a special astral event on this 29th of april.
Mistress, please have a drink with me and let’s share the rest with all fellows here. Maybe you would fancy a chess game ?Happy birthday to you. I think we do not want to know your age as for elves, that does not affect any of your spirit.
Concenring mine, it’s getting a bit…happy…not drunk (as the elve might pretend when seing a hobbit above their head, dancing on the table).
Nob, would you please leave this heavy stool and fill my pot ?April 29, 2010 at 12:22 pm #9737Huoooommmmrhuoommm … so I’m not too late … huoomm … first of all, happy birthday Mistress Wendy and Master Milo …. then we can turn to all those nice liquid things I can see around here … huoommm …. so, where’s my bowl, Nob? ….
