I don´t neither, Master Barliman.
But that is exactly what I have been waiting for . . .October 8, 2010 at 8:46 am #12309I bought “Gandalf and Gwaihir” last week…. too bad:mad::mad:
October 8, 2010 at 9:06 am #12310no mail received either….
October 8, 2010 at 9:09 am #12311Well, Master Erchamion, even if a message is sent out today, that’s already a day of the sale gone, since it seems to have officially started on the 7th…
They just have no idea how to promote their product at all.Everything to do with marketing is done in a sort of half-hearted, casual fashion, as if it’s all a bit too much trouble to bother about.
October 8, 2010 at 11:26 am #12312the problem is.. the need a HUMAN person to do this, in the person of Michael who has , because of that, far too much work to accomplish in a given day of work…
They’d have to automatize many things about their online web activities…. but, doing it from scratch is easy, doing it upon an existing system is rather harder… Considering they keep telling me “Mithril is not our only preoccupation at the moment, we have many things to attend” we can assume that they mean : Either Mithril “half-lives” with what is currently affected to it or we won’t bother shutting this business down…
One must remember that usually when people makes BIG sales operations outside the given periods of times of “officiale annual sales”, it tends to mean “broken prices! broken prices!!… emptying stocks before closing!!”
October 8, 2010 at 11:29 am #12313No mail on my inbox… on mithril.ie there in so any notice about this offer… let’s wait now till sunday 10th… …. if this is a true I’ll buy all Christmas figures…27% off – 17% extra for non EU buyers… and this is for me….
cheers !

It would take minimal effort, I’m sure. They manage to send us emails regarding voting and poll results. Sending out a heads-up regarding a sale would take no more effort, and would generate far more income!
I repeat again, they really have no idea how to sell their product.
October 8, 2010 at 1:04 pm #12316do you know that Michael has to calculate manually all price changes and in this case the coding to adapt those 27.1% in the code of shoping basket.
Anyway I just wrote a HUGE letter to Michael, to pass along to Lars… that’s enough… Mithril team under or not under Lars are not focusing on mithril “boosts in sales/promotions” I gave to Michael (to pass to Lars) a detailed list on HOW MUCH I DO invest myself on this site (both in time, coding, and also financially…) that Mithril does NOT do to promote their own products so I did not ask, I required a discussion with Lars Edman…
I agree with you Barliman, things have either to be done (to change things) … or said (about the fact they don’t want to do anything, clearly) so that at least we know what we can expect in the future…
it is not logical that as a “unofficial” mithril supporter site, Mithril Faerylands generates more traffic than the official channels of communication…
I somehow asked to be in a “consulting team” about Mithril matters, on a benevolent basis but with the ability to speak honestly and frankly with Prince August chairman about his plans (short or long terms)October 8, 2010 at 1:28 pm #12317Sounds like they need to invest in some new software too.
October 8, 2010 at 1:28 pm #12318I placed my order on Oct.7th and I am very thankful to purchase these wonderful mithril miniatures at a lower cost.
October 8, 2010 at 1:38 pm #12320well I don’t know if “one software” can change everything if you don’t use it , it is the coding of their website they need to change…
October 8, 2010 at 1:46 pm #12321Whatever.
October 8, 2010 at 2:46 pm #12322LOL Master Barliman, you speak out of my heart. There is more needed then new software. A whole new “PROGRAM”!
It seems to me, that Mithril is the write off for PA…..
It’s not only how Mithril gets promoted (not), it is also, how customers are treated. The whole organisation seems to have open ends and not only on one end! The left hand doesn’t really know what the right hand is doing!:rolleyes:October 8, 2010 at 2:52 pm #12323MITHRIL REST IN PEACE! 😆

it’s always better to over-communicate than not communicate at all… Now if only I had some “marketing power” granted to me, I could do miracles to promote mithril to retailers, and sellers… but I am no official… and no professional would pay me any attention at the moment…
Besides, it is not my job… I already have a quite time consuming one, and a family to take care of…
Now , alas for master Ent, we know though that MX projects may definitly not be the proper “promotional boost” for Mithril…
Mithril has to use other “ways”… we all have ideas about which ones… certainly master Edman too…. but for strange reasons he won’t develop them…. or too slowlyOctober 8, 2010 at 3:00 pm #12325This communication occurs to be very single sided Master Gildor.
Very sad indeed.October 8, 2010 at 5:55 pm #12326Barliman wrote:Huh? What’s the point of doing this sort of promotion if you don’t tell anyone about it? Has anyone received an email advsing them about the sale? I certainly haven’t.Mithril really couldn’t organise a piss-up in a brewery, could they.
Barli, I found this email in my in-box today from Prince August, not Mithril specifically.
This Sunday it will be the 10th of October 2010. That’s 10-10-10. Adate that will never repeat in our lifetimes (unless you are from thetwilight saga). So Prince August has a special sale that will only last until the11th of October. We have 27.1% off EVERYTHING on all our websites. http://www.princeaugust.ie http://www.warzone-chronopia.com http://www.mithril.ie Thats right, We only ask that your order is at least 30 Euro. Thediscount is automatically applied in the shopping basket. Wondering why the sale is 27.1% off, its 10% off, then a further 10%off that total (9%) then 10% off that remaining total (8.1%).

October 8, 2010 at 6:20 pm #12328Huoommm … those links might settle the discussion a bit, Master Ddaines … rhuoomm … anyway, it doesn’t touch me as I’m about to leave for a while … huoomm … just about to catch some rays of sunshine in the north this year … huomm … so enjoy the absence of me, talkative tree … huooommmmmmrhuommm
October 8, 2010 at 6:43 pm #12329Indeed, its best to assume that everyone who might know that Mithril is still active knows by now. The people who will likely stumble onto the site have already done so.
So clearly the job is to GET MORE PEOPLE TO STUMBLE ON MITHRIL’S SITE.
Having a twitter feed is passive – you need to know what to look for.
Having a website is still passive – you need to enter “mithril miniatures” or “middle earth miniatures” into a browser. How do you prompt someone to do that.
Having a facebook site is also passive – there are millions of facebook groups already out there. You need to find it, and you’d only do that by entering “mithril” into the facebook search engine. At the very least, Mithril needs to appear on other websites – TMP and RPG.net are starts, not finishes. They need to form strategic partnerships with companies who have the infrastructure in the North American market (maybe sell some Prince August fantasy figures as a range on Dark Sword miniatures). They need to be going to every convention they can manage. And they need to remember that France and Germany are two huge geek markets – if you aren’t selling there, you’re losing out.
As it stands, most people believe Prince August, never mind Mithril, shut down fifteen years ago, maybe twenty. If they are aware of it at all, its deemed some sort of hobbyist recreation for the nostalgia market, not a going concern making new products.
Clearly people out there still want to buy figures. Many of them would like to buy beautifully rendered, expertly sculpted figures. If only they could be made aware of where they could find such things.
