I’ve still did not received my package…. I have invoice in my filing folder and dispatch mrs. Collins is send me e-mail that my parcel was on way to Croatian soil since 12.10 morning …. no any comment that anything was out of stock and I’ve also ordered MS299 Master Milo…. interesting… or they send me last one and you are withhold for this figure or I will also receive package without this figure…
October 26, 2010 at 7:57 pm #12631… it is not fair to do extra figures if is well known that all new MS are limited edition in 150 pieces… each…. but who knows ! Maybe they are only lost some figures in boxes or drawers in depot…
October 26, 2010 at 8:41 pm #12632My order arrived withour any trouble at all, but I didn’t order an MS519 – I wish I had now, because it sounds as if I’m too late to get one.
October 26, 2010 at 10:41 pm #12636MS figures are not limited…. The moulds are not getting destroyed. Who came up with this?
Mithril might only cast 150 in the first batch, but that doesn’t mean they can’t cast a second batch if they think there’s a need for it…..or they have gotten a higher order for one type.October 26, 2010 at 10:54 pm #12637MS figures are not limited…. October 27, 2010 at 6:04 am #12638So this is good news for market developing…. but not for collecting very rare miniatures…
Anyway I hope my parcel would come full with complete order…. cheers to all from this fogy Istrian morning…
October 27, 2010 at 6:45 am #12640Are you all sure about this casting quantity business? Everything about the promotion of the MS figures certainly IMPLIES that the number given is it, and there will never be any more. And if recasting was theoretically “allowed”, how come Halbarad has never been recast? – he’s been unavailable for ages. Sorry, but it doesn’t make sense to me!
October 27, 2010 at 7:48 am #12642Maybee Halbarad will be another M16 with the exception it would be artificial.
Or the mould is broken, or the factory misplaced the mould, or they couldn’t be bothered to cast a new batch, or they just didn’t change it on their website, or they changed the website in the first place by mistake…..
Any more quuestion? It’s Mithril for god sake!!!! No one knows what they are doing, not even Mithril themselfs!:lol::lol:October 27, 2010 at 8:00 am #12643Barliman wrote:Sorry, but it doesn’t make sense to me!For me either. Why Michael undertook to advise if there are few figures MS for members had the opportunity to acquire one? Then if Mithril can do more, it doesn´t make sense to tell when there are few….
And there is a thing that worries me more: Mithril is which “speculate” with prices, limiting production to make prices rise and selling figures to 19.95 € when the real cost is 6.99 € (if we take the price of the figures of the last serie-M). Is that why not issue new series- M and all the figures reduced to the GF?Yeah, I know I’m free to not accept these conditions, but all this seems unethical …..
And I’ll shut up …..
October 27, 2010 at 9:46 am #12647Was there a warning for Ms299??? No? I thought so lol….. Does that make sense? No? Thats right, Mithril doesn’t make sense…
October 27, 2010 at 9:48 am #12648Cheers Masters ! Fancy a drink ?
October 27, 2010 at 9:49 am #12649Sure, got a very dry mouth from all that talking 😆
October 27, 2010 at 9:50 am #12650By the way, how is your mouth going??
October 27, 2010 at 9:54 am #12651Santé Holger.
Regarding Master Erchamion’s remark on prices, I guess MS price allow the irish company to survive without extra efforts nor even any investments. As written here before, we can do nothing about that exept share our frenesy and make something good with it. 😆October 27, 2010 at 12:20 pm #12652I have not recieved my order yet either. It did include two Dunlending musicians, they did email me an invoice about six days ago.
October 27, 2010 at 2:30 pm #12655There were mould problems with Halbarad…I believe he is forever to be sold out.

By the way, do you like the m163 Holger ?October 27, 2010 at 3:03 pm #12657After reading Wendy’s comment above, I wonder how many castings of Halbarad were made. Did he sell out due to mould problems or popularity? I always thought it a little strange that only one figure had ever sold out completly.
October 27, 2010 at 4:05 pm #12658Yes, and on that subject I notice that MS519 Bard and the Thrush isn’t showing up as ‘Sold Out’ on the Mithril site, which is strange if it has…
Oh, and welcome Mistress Wendy! Always nice to hear from you. Yoi don’t pop into the Pony anywhere often enough.

I always thought it a little strange that only one figure had ever sold out completly.Halbarad was planned to be a 250 figure series; the mould broke after about 60 castings. The 250 number is an arbitrary limit. They could probably make more or less. The idea is that they’d break the mould after the limit is reached to create an artificial shortage, so as to benefit collectors. They don’t cast all 250 at once (I rather suspect they use the less sturdy moulds for such short runs); probably they cast batches of 30 at a go. Which means if the mould breaks when casting figure number 34, the ultimate limit on that figure is going to be 33.
But since “officially” they have committed to making 150 of the later fellowship range, they can just make another mould of the second master. They might not make the full 150 castings, but they will try to keep up with demand.
For reference, Chris Tubb sculpts the original in plasticine. This is shipped to mithril where the mould is created. The original is destroyed in the moulding process. But they probably do make a second master in metal for emergencies.
