What? Is someone volunteering me to hand out free drinks again? Outrageous! It seems to be all anyone expects in here these days. Still, I welcome Master Cameosis regardless, since he wasn’t the one asking! Have a triple-strength scrumpy on the house, master – you can pay me if aftderwards, if you can still count to three after a couple of mouthfuls. (My scrumpy has been known to stop a charging mumak.)

Well, you’re a true, traditional Hobbit, Master Thingol! The presents are all very generous, and far better than we deserve, I’m sure. I particularly like the Ranger’s lamp – that’ll stop him from hiding in the corner at throwing-out time!

Now, if you’ll forgive me, masters, one and all, I need to start lugging all those barrels downstairs into the cellar.
