we salute you (and empty the barrels in the process).
June 14, 2011 at 12:54 pm #17959Hi tomislav,
Did you get any news from Japan ? how things are 3 monthes after disaster ?
June 14, 2011 at 4:20 pm #17964I hope Dave doesn’t bring a drinking horn here that’s as big as that one used by Helm in the new release. I’ll run out of ale in no time!
June 14, 2011 at 7:04 pm #17967Maybe you could serve us drinks in horns instead of glasses
!!!! Just few hours until we do celebrate this new outstanding figure… with horn….June 14, 2011 at 8:02 pm #17969It certainly is a very nice figure indeed. I look forward to painting him.

still pretty dramatic, actually — they found strontium in the groundwater in fukushima — i’ll go to a general assembly in poland this weekend where we will discuss things and will meet colleagues from tokyo there.
June 15, 2011 at 7:46 am #17978Master Barliman,
Please give Horns of your best ale next time you see Arthadan & Imisel coming in. The bill is for me.

Oh, and I will take one also.June 15, 2011 at 8:04 am #17982You’ll have to be pretty strong to lift three of those monsters!
June 15, 2011 at 9:12 am #17987And I just noticed I may not be tall enough…

, if not a Yard of Ale glass will have to do.June 15, 2011 at 4:11 pm #18007Have you ever tried to drink out of one of those things? It’s a rare skill to manage it without drenching yourself. Most places only have a half-yard these days. In fact, I don’t think I’ve seen a true yard for more years than I care to remember.
June 15, 2011 at 4:18 pm #18010Huuooommm … a yard of ale would even be better as you then don’t have to slurp up the liquid through a very long and narrowing tube … rhuoommm … imagine that Helmy-horn were filled with a liquid … huoommm … see, it just might contain one-and-a-half bowl … hrruomm … what I think is, that the Helmy-horn wasn’t designed to take liquids … huooommm … but it’s just a guess, of course … huom
June 16, 2011 at 12:01 pm #18029Huoommm … as for them “true” yards, I still keep one of them … huommm … and yes, I tried it three or even four times and never got drenched … rhuoommm … yes, there’s a certain skill … huoommm … I always thought a barkeep should know about that … hoommm
June 16, 2011 at 1:47 pm #18032No, I’m not daft enough to have ever tried it. You know, I assume, that you’re supposed to down the whole lot in one go (about two and a half pints)…? Mind you, that should be well witnin an Ent’s capacity.
June 16, 2011 at 3:17 pm #18035huoommm … well, never done it in one go as the fun of it is to share it with friends and in the ent see who’s drenched … rhuoommm … you have to know when to sip, drink or swallow while turning the yard … huom … there once was something similar in my Osning area called “Stiefel” (which means boot and is of the same shape and made of glass containig 3 or 5 litres – two sizes there were) … rhuoommm … I think it’s more difficult to drink a “Stiefel” than a yard of ale .. huoomm
June 16, 2011 at 3:34 pm #18037At 3 or 5 litres, so do I!!
