Rhhuoommm … in case you intend to move your bar to another room, Master Barliman, you should make sure to have a dark corner over there too … huoommm … rhuomhom … just for the man who likes dark corners … huoommm … let me know if I could be of any help …. hom
August 22, 2008 at 9:02 pm #2949I’m not sure the Man in the Dark even comes here any more – I haven’t seen or heard him for quite a while – not that that means much in his case. He seems able to slip in and have his feet up on one of my nice clean tables before I even know he’s around.
You seem to think we need another bar, Master Tree – though I’m not sure why. Is it so that we can lock the wargskin rugs in here where they can’t savage anyone’s ankles?
August 22, 2008 at 9:04 pm #2950Yes, please, the darker the better. As long as Nob can still find his way to my table with a tankard of ale, er scrumpy . . .
And worthy Barliman, Gary Gygax was the co-creator of Dungeons and Dragons; and although I think the two certainly knew each other, it is Pete Fenlon who gets primary credit for starting and maintaining MERP. Of course many wonderful people such as Michael martinez and Chris Seeman were major contributors. Indeed, it was a fortuitous meeting between Pete Fenlon and our favorite sculptor, the man himself, which resulted in the launch of the Mithril Miniature line, now some twenty years ago!
Speaking of that, Master Ent (I’m talkative after being quiet here in my corner for so long), have we any word from Chris or Michael on the release expectations of the Anniversary Figure?
PS. I certainly do come and go Barli, but you are so busy you probably hardly notice.
August 22, 2008 at 9:21 pm #2951Ah, I was wondering who the mysterious Man in the Dark was! And he is an afficionado of RPGs, by the sound of it!
An interesting fellowship vote, as always – dang I’ve missed those things. A shame to see the fellowship still hasn’t made a Bombur yet, although when we do, we’ll have to track down Mithrandir – has anyone got any idea where he ended up?
PS – thanks for the title, Wendy – but I suspect ‘Apprentice’ is more appropriate .
August 22, 2008 at 10:46 pm #2954Rhuooommmhuoommm … that’s good indeed … rhuomm … very good, so to say …huoomm.
As I tried to awake Master Axe99 from a long absence … rhuoomm … I am delighted to see some of you all here again in the Pony… huoom … Well, Master Barliman, as you witness the “Man in the Dark” was always here … rhuuoommm …hom … rhuoomm … that’s what I’m here for … me mind is about collecting all those good old blokes here again … rhuoomm …August 22, 2008 at 11:07 pm #2955Rhuoommm … see … huom … to me it’s just a matter of concern …. huoommm … so Master Axe99 re-appears as also the Man in the Dark gives a comment here … rhuoomm … thank you for that, as your knowledge about certain things is very much apprecicated by me and the others arond here ….. rhuoomm … tom-dom…dom …hom …..
August 23, 2008 at 5:27 am #2956I think the problem is that I’ve become a fashion-victim and have started wearing shades in the bar, because Nob says they “look cool”, and it gets very hot in here at times. The fact that I can’t see into the corners any more is an inconvenient side-effect. But then, that’s what my woolly-footed (or in Nob’s case woolly-headed) staff are for.
Regarding your enquiry about Mithrandir, there was a brief discussion about his disappearance in one of the other parlours:

– but the cause of his vanishment and his whereabouts remain a sad mystery. Needless to say, his badgering for a Bombur figure crossed my mind as I suggested the short-and-fat one this month.
August 23, 2008 at 4:27 pm #2963Rhuoomm … dubbbededom … may I raise a bowl for the good old Fangorn …. hooommm …
August 24, 2008 at 5:43 am #2964What are we celebrating?
August 24, 2008 at 8:55 am #2965Rhuoommmmdeedom …. Fangorn has found us …. huoommmm …. and there’s another one who promised to buy for me a flagon of your best appely honey-coloured liquid ,Master Barliman …. rhuoommm ….though I cannot see him at the moment …. hom … so he’s not that hasty meseems …. rhuooommmmm … hom
August 24, 2008 at 12:53 pm #2966Welcome and cheers Master Fangorn!
Master Ent found his forrest, or did the forrest find his Ent???
Well Master Ent, I’ll buy you one of these appely honey-coloured liquids and we wait for the other one to arrive.
By the way Master Barliman, it is not important what the celebration is all about, it is important to celebrate no matter what!August 24, 2008 at 2:34 pm #2967Rhuuooommmm … though we forgot to discuss the matter thoroughly before it started …. houmom .. as far as I can recall I just raised a bowl … rhuoommm … with that I did not intend to start a – what someone called – celebration …. huuoommm … whatever it might be it seems to be fun ….
Alas, I didn’t find a forest, Master Caster, nor did it find me tree … rhuoommm … but nevertheless I’m sure that good old Master Fangorn will appreciate your welcome very much … rhuoommmboom ….August 24, 2008 at 3:30 pm #2968And to pay the tab afterwards… (the words ‘little chance…’ spring unbidden to my mind even as I write this).
The Fellowship voting situation isn’t getting much clearer, though it’s good to see that Boromir has gained a minimal edge on his competitors; but Thomas the Troll is still way ahead.
August 25, 2008 at 3:59 am #2970I was hoping on Eomer, but it seems almost everyone loves those trolls! Oh well, maybe next time.
On another note, does anyone know what M-series is after the Easterlings? Just curious.
Any rumors Master Tree?August 25, 2008 at 7:53 am #2974jdbrown55 wrote:I was hoping on Eomer, but it seems almost everyone loves those trolls! Oh well, maybe next time.On another note, does anyone know what M-series is after the Easterlings? Just curious.
Any rumors Master Tree?Well well, it seems, that the GF member so not love Elves either or not so much than they love Trolls an men. Sad for Wendy an me and our “band of brothers”.
Namarie
estelYes, the time of the Elves is over in the 3rd Age, but still there are some who resist the Dark Powers!
August 25, 2008 at 12:55 pm #2975stupid trolls!
I for shure prefer the elves. Pretty, smart and clean. If you ever met eighter of them (troll or elf) you understand what I mean.August 25, 2008 at 2:41 pm #2977If we get the Trolls out of the way now, it leaves the way clear for the Elves, lol. Come what may, I have an Elvish suggestion ready for the next round of suggestions.
August 26, 2008 at 2:08 am #2979Aye, carn’ those elves! If they were ever footy teams, Elrond’s Elves would smash Tom’s Trolls any day of the week! Don’t worry, we can’t vote for trolls forever, and there’s still round 2 .
August 26, 2008 at 5:50 am #2980Since a single troll sitting in the goal-mouth would completely block it, I don’t see how the Elves could score…
And in the superior game they play on the other side of the sundering sea, can you imagine a Troll offensive line? “Are u eyeballin’ me, Elfie?” Splat. I think the Elves would need a lot of reserves.
August 26, 2008 at 5:51 am #2981Mae govannen, my friends,
seems that there are more Elf-friends out there. :rolleyes:I cannot remember, that we had many Elves in the GF other than Cirdan and Gil-Galad, 2 Sindarin Elves and some of those smiths.
I wished, we could have on of those great figures C.T. has designed in the past, like the range “Elvenking’s hall” or “Lothlorien”. These were the Elves influencing my vision of those people mostly. The newer versions of the Elves did not satisfy me much, so there is some hope?NAMARIE
