The funny thing is that Barlimans Bombur – as backed by me – just got one vote less in the initial round, and had he got one more the two dwarfs would certainly have cancelled each other out of the race.
Hail to the King, and lets have some barrels to feast the event. Durin is back.
BTW: Where is Dain, to watch the back of Brand?
March 2, 2009 at 7:42 pm #4558You’ll have to suggest him for next month! Can two Dwarves win in a row? Perhaps we shall get a chance to see. And congrats to Master Erchamion.
March 2, 2009 at 8:44 pm #4559I wonder if in a twist of artistic flurry, Chris forgets himself and includes as a ‘freebie’ extra, the Balrog as it is about to remove Durin from the gene-pool

Well he has included a couple of ‘bonus’ figures in the past hasn’t he?
Anyhow, this exchange rate business is a bit of a pain, I’m five behind at the moment, better do some serious balancing of the books

Congrats to Durin, against the grain I didn’t vote for him (which means I voted for a female character 😮 ), but I shall be interested in what emerges.
March 3, 2009 at 6:46 am #4560Congratulations erchamion! I am sure Chris will make a fabulous piece, and I will certainly buy him.
March 3, 2009 at 7:12 am #4561Master Dave, your attraction to female orcs worries me…have you sought therapy? I’m sure there are things that can be done about it these days. Of course, it may simply be the result of drinking too much scrumpy. Certainly hasn’t done my eyesight a lot of good over the years.

March 3, 2009 at 7:56 pm #4563Well as long as you leave before you sober up
. Actually I thought that figure may have been a good ‘study’ for Chris to have produced to see how it was interpreted. Some Uuuuugly ‘Muvver’ though
March 4, 2009 at 9:59 am #4564At nightime all cats are grey!
March 5, 2009 at 9:49 am #4568Can’t say I’m entirely happy about Master Michael adding yet another limitation on what we’re ‘allowed’ to suggest in the Fellowship polls, but I guess he means well, and he does have a point – there is an increasing amount of repetition month by month, though that’s pretty inevitable if people want to see certain figures produced.
But coming up with figures that have never been suggested before – wow, that’s certainly a challenge. Just look at Master Axel’s impressive archive list on the Mithril website! There can’t be many contenders left.
March 5, 2009 at 8:41 pm #4569Huuooommmm … rhuoommm … Master Axel always has been brilliant in keeping record and updating … hom … not to forget to mention Master Zoetrop keeping record about prices of those tiny metal things … rhuoommm
March 6, 2009 at 2:35 am #4570Agreed Barli, perhaps another indication that he isn’t well versed in the books. I can understand requesting single figures for Chris’ sake, but only new ideas? If Michael wants more participation this is the wrong way to go about it. Perhaps this would have been Bombur’s month, or even the assassin’s. In fact, I think the top ten figures I’d still like to see have already been suggested. What does he want? Another WitchKing, Gandalf, Boromir, Aragorn, Nazgul, Eowyn, etc….. in a different pose not previously suggested? For the first time since I joined the FG I may go against my own rule and not bother with a suggestion this month–very discouraging! (que lastima!).
On the other hand, I’ll probably just ignore his request and suggest whatever the hell I want to! Give me another scrumpy, I don’t care if it has rat hair in it, I’m just in that kind of mood!
March 6, 2009 at 6:38 am #4571Why not go completely the other way: only figures once suggested are allowed, that means we have to chose from a list ? I mean, there are so many great ideas in the list….
I cannot see an argument pro “only new suggestions”.
March 6, 2009 at 6:53 am #4572Perhaps somebody should say as much to Master Michael…?
But I’ve stuck my neck out enough times, methinks. It’s someone else’s turn!
March 6, 2009 at 7:53 am #4573mmhh maybe I am blind but where does he mention it can only be new ideas? I did not see that on the post (or maybe he changed it already?)

“I have noticed over the last 6 months that many of the ideas suggested, while valid and excellent in their own right, are repeats of previous months. Now I agree that presistance pays dividends but lets give our Fellowship a bit of a spring clean and ONLY suggest new ideas for March.
This does not mean we abandon older ideas, and they can be revisited later on.The reason I suggest this is to avoid the voting becoming predictable and stagnant, with the same popular choices competing again and again. “
March 6, 2009 at 8:35 am #4575ähem,
Gildor was just faster than me, but I was also confused, when I read Michael’s intro to the March suggestion and I could not find a hint of “only new ones allowed”.March 6, 2009 at 10:23 am #4576well this quote goes against the definition of th gold fellowship itself…
maybe it’s only for march … and it was not meant to upset us at allMarch 6, 2009 at 10:48 am #4577Might not have been meant to, but it has…
And it is rather gormless not to include this additional restriction in the blurb on the poll page itself.
I sense a new round of chaos approaching.
March 6, 2009 at 12:40 pm #4578I think the problem should be reported to Chris rather than Michael… that would have more weight… and Chris could then discuss it with Michael or explain himself to us all..
March 6, 2009 at 4:26 pm #4579Huuooommm … Master Gildor, I just supported your comment on the GF board … huom
