I’ve just done the same.
March 6, 2009 at 8:12 pm #4581And I.
March 9, 2009 at 4:07 pm #4582Huoommmm … it’s not very busy around here …. rhuoommm … it took me some time to cope with those restrictions on the GF … huomm … first I thought not to suggest anything … hom … but then I found an alternative … rhuoommm … we’ll see … hoooom
March 9, 2009 at 4:33 pm #4583It will be interesting to see what Master Michael has to say when he gets round to it.
March 9, 2009 at 7:17 pm #4584Huoommm … he cannot try to avoid the Watcher(s) directly in that poll, meseems …. huoom.
though he might try to find another restriction for next month’s suggestions … huoomm … “no watchers allowed” this month or something like that …. huoommm … I dunno …. hommm … I do hope that the procedure of choosing from the suggestions for the first run still is a matter of The Man himself … rhuoommhuoommm … as in the past we always had him quoted about his choice … rhuoommhom … in the past, I said … as it has become common not to do that any more … huoommm … recently, I mean … hommmmm … maybe because of these restrictions it wasn’t necessary to inform customers about severe changes directly in the thread …. huommm … it takes time to follow those trains of thought …. huoomm … well, you know, I cannot haste everything, not even thoughts … huoommm …March 9, 2009 at 10:11 pm #4585I rather get the impression that Master Michael doesn’t actually give as much attention to the Fellowship as we might like. Perhaps his other fucntions at Mithril simply don’t leave him with sufficient time to devote to the running of the polls.
March 9, 2009 at 11:54 pm #4586Lets just ignore that limitation of “new” items.
There are so many “old” suggestions that you have to go way out of your way to find something that is both fresh AND an important part of the tale.
I am sure that Michael has a lot of work to do with Prince August, too, so his time for us few and selected is probably limited. Ultimately the survival of the whole company is in the best interest of the fellowship, so let him choose where to concentrate his work.
Sometimes an idea that looks good on first glance just does not hold up when revisited. Most people then prefer to let that idea quitely die, and will not react good to persistent debate on WHY it was not such a good idea. Let us drop that “restriction” and just pretend it never showed up.March 10, 2009 at 1:05 am #4587That’s what I also intend to do Axel. But I had to comment in the “Rules” thread, like others, that it was a bad idea. And one could easily argue that it ran contrary to the very rules of the FG. So, now the complaining is done and it is time to let it die quietly, at least on the Mithril forums.
March 10, 2009 at 6:32 am #4588ok let’s put some pepper in wounds:
No company should offer any kind of service and then not deliver it or worse deliver it not properly. That is, what happens often with Mithril and that is for non-GF’s or customers who are not buying everything, but just some figures a bad thing. It keeps them away from buying anything from Mithril.
I know that, because the wargamers and collectors I know have (and had) problems.Mithril is a very nice company, when you know the people, are a true customer and so on, because problems seem to be solved in the best way. I also know it is a very small company and Michael has a lot to do, but so do others and all have to do their jobs well. If the GF is too heavy workload compared to what Mithril earns, they have to think about it. If the GF is just installed to keep customers, than it must be handled very careful and no such things like “change of rules” should happen. This is derived mostly from a marketing/economic point of view.
to make it clear: I was an am not upset by this “new rule”, but from the market point I can understand, why some GF’s are upset.
March 10, 2009 at 7:08 am #4589As I said before, it will be interesting to see how Michael reacts. Personally I just wish he’d stop piddling round with the rules and let things be. If anyone had complained about the repetitive suggestions then I could see some justification in changing things, but altering the rules on a whim just isn’t acceptable. After all, Michael isn’t obliged to buy membership and then purchase a minimum of six expensive figures a year – we are.

ESTEL, I endorse your words.

However, the “change of rules” seems to be only for the month of March, the newsletter that is not forever …. I think …..:rolleyes:March 11, 2009 at 6:48 am #4591Even one month is a month too long.
March 13, 2009 at 12:58 pm #4592Now it’s quiet again. Not even the Master Ent is around. The storm is over!? Or is it the silence before the actual storm? Who cares! Let’s have a nice drink without furballs together with good stuffed pipe and wait who’s next to drop in and have a break from the outside world.
Master Barliman? Nob? Cat?? Well I guess I have to pour my own drink… Cheers!March 13, 2009 at 1:06 pm #4593I’m sorry for my silence gentlemen… I have some dire problems at work with the human ressources… So I don’t have much time for mithril
There is only one good news : I managed to find two rarities on Ebay and bought them recently. I hope I’ll receive them soon and take some pics.
These are the “Water Nymphs” and “Princess Achmiri” 54mm figurines sets from Grenadier back in 1990 or so. they are pristine in blister still. I still miss the Princess Shaaranon (the third reference from those “females from ancient times” sculpted by Chris Tubb) If any of you knows where to find this princess Shaaranon set, please let me know.I will post pics when I have them
March 13, 2009 at 1:21 pm #4594I’ve been quiet too, awaiting Master Michael’s reaction in some form or other to the comments regarding the poll suggestions. But there’s not been so much as a squeak. Perhaps he’s just going to ignore the remarks? Or perhaps he’s not there? He’s been fairly fast to react to criticism on previous occasions, so I’m not sure why there’s been such a prolonged silence this time.
It would appear from the lower-than-usual number of suggestions this month, however, that the additional restriction has had a negative effect on the input of ideas.
As for pouring your own, Master Holger, why not? It’s what everyone else does. Oh, and the cat has been forbidden from purring drinks. Customers objected to drinking from saucers.
March 13, 2009 at 2:15 pm #4595I understand Master Barkeep and these Customers where complaining about furballs too….
I’m sureMarch 13, 2009 at 2:48 pm #4596What’s wrong with a furball? Adds good fibre to the diet.
March 13, 2009 at 9:45 pm #4597Huooommm … I do agree, Master Barliman …. huom … I also think that Master Michael seems to prefer to keep that matter being ignored … huoooom … I don’t mind any more … rhuoomm
March 14, 2009 at 5:41 pm #4598It looks like some people have either not seen the restriction or (like me) ignored it. Although I did decide to give evryone a break from the female assassin. Of course, that doesn’t mean that one of her other many supporters won’t suggest her again.
Still, my fears of less interest are coming true. Only ten suggestions, and from my count no more than four of them are new. Well, we have until the 18th, perhaps more ideas will be put forth.
March 15, 2009 at 2:34 pm #4599Huoommm … rhuoommm … well, I’m still here, Master Caster … I simply was contemplating different matters … huoomm … that’s why my concentration swifted away awhile … rhuoomm
as for me, Master twrich, I did not receive any news about further restrictions either … huoomm I just learned about them in The Pony here … huom .. hom
as for less interest meseems you’re right, Master twrich … right indeed … huommm … I just suggested that figure because I was aware of the fact that it would never match all those restrictions .. rhuoomm … though it could be a very nice piece to see the light … ahem … hom
I was a bit angry by then … huoommm … just a moment or so … rhuoommm …
Yesterday I started doing paint on a figure again … huoomm … I stopped with that about two years ago … it’s nice doing that again … rhuoooommmm …. I will keep on with that …. hom … it’s better than to spend all your time in this Pony …. rhuoomm …
alas, Master Barliman, how to settle that matter with all those tabs … rhuoomm … may I have them? … rhuoomm … just saw that my name is put on all of them …. huomm … so they must be mine, methinks … rhuoommm -
