All I can say to this is cheers!
June 1, 2009 at 11:54 am #5553I don’t even understand what’s going on. So no change there, then.
June 1, 2009 at 7:54 pm #5559Huoommm rhuooo mmm … the more frequently you’re around, here, Master Barliman, the better you’ll understand … rhuoomm … though meseems your memories do lack some Swedish words … huoommmhommm … why not come in here again saying ‘Hi, friends and dear customers, ladies and gentlemen, I’m back and the next round is on my tap, cheers’ … huomm … or somthing like that … huoommm … tar mej fan … gruoommm ….
Ahem, so to say I’m lucky to have you back here again, Master Barliman … huoommmJune 2, 2009 at 4:53 am #5560Swedish? Is that anything like that Dunlendish nonsense? I never can understand them when they come in here.
So, today’s the day we should hear Lars’s decision re the prices issue. I shall certainly buy everyone a drink if the news is good, Master Tree! If it’s not good news, then I won’t be able to afford to…
June 2, 2009 at 8:06 am #5561Odds are it was the drink, Master Tree, althought I must admit that as a healer type of guy I do boil little green shoots and leaves and twigs to help SAVE THE WORLD. Its a rough job but someone has to do it.
Now if you’ll excuse my attempt at humor, I’ll retire to my dark corner with an ale and a bit of pipe weed.
PS. Presto: you’re right on.
June 2, 2009 at 9:03 am #5562well that’s done… I made a big post…. on the public part of the official forum… explaining my deep ideas behind the reason of this kind of boycott for master twrich… as well as quite a lot of suggestions…. and these are only the beginning… I hope you will agree with my suggestions, but most of all I hope Mithril will take them into account…
June 3, 2009 at 7:32 am #5564It remains to be seen what will happen next, if anything. I see that Mithril’s announcement – like their releases, ironically! – is also running behind schedule.
June 3, 2009 at 7:50 am #5565True spoken, Master Barli, true spoken.
Seems that those “waiting-loops” become a fix component in lifePS: isn´t it, Holger . . .
June 3, 2009 at 8:17 am #5566there will be an announcement today, don’t worry. It’s just a matter of master O’brien posting it I suppose.

That’s exactly what I think is so frustrating to customers. It is so important to stick to schedules always inform the customers, even when there are just sketches from new releases and so on. Just keep them interested in you and your company.
I still think, Mithril’s miniatures are worth!
June 3, 2009 at 9:42 am #5568You are not wrong Archer of Mirkwood! My life is split in three parts. Sleeping, working and waiting and I’m sure the “waiting for something” is the biggest part out of all three!
June 3, 2009 at 9:46 am #5569I think that waiting isn´t so good. Makes people uneasy unnecessarily…
June 3, 2009 at 11:05 am #5570We already have the answer of Michael. Reduces the price from € 9.99 to € 6.99 per figure. Continuing the discount on the purchase of lots of three figures (€ 18.87, so that each figure comes out to € 6.29) and there is no discount for buying the complete serie. Enough?
In my opinion, this is a more reasonable price increase but on the other hand I still conveying unease Michael´s comment has necessitated some hard measures which will enable us to keep afloat in these difficult times
June 3, 2009 at 11:19 am #5571Have seen it yet on the website. I am happy about that!!
It is very nice to do this, but what is the reason for that reaction? It seems arbitrary how the prices were created!June 3, 2009 at 11:33 am #5572Yes, it does kind of, doesn’t it? It rather suggests that the first mark-up was unnecessarily ambitious, and was plucked out of the air! Hopefully they’ve realised the error of their ways and won’t do it again.
June 3, 2009 at 12:00 pm #5573I have made another long post in reaction to the announcement… As a matter of fact I was aware of the content of this announcement before Michael posted it…
I’m trying to get in touch with Mithril staff someway or another to help them work out new sales/marketing strategies to solve the situation.
As I said in my post, a price reduction is cool at the moment, but that’s only a short-term solution… Other actions must be undertaken in order to solve this long-term crisis of which we only see the surface it seems.
Hopefully I’ll get to discuss, on a day-to-day basis with Mithril lead staff in order to try to find out, for them, appropriate long term solutions… I have ideas… lots of… and I have contacts too… In the Tolkien universe (I used to be part and still am somehow, of the msot important communities of Tolkien dedicated fans in France… Ardalië, which is my other website, is also a tolkien community/mailing list managed by my dear wife wirílomë, all over France and Canada actually… which counts among its ranks the official translators of all Tolkien books in french…and the worldwide specialists of Tolkien elven languages)
i’m putting all my energy in this project… so the trade engine for MMP will have to wait a bit I think… Mithril health goes first… if I can add my participation somehow…
June 3, 2009 at 12:24 pm #5574Of course, these are good news. I will be able to order three more figures of that range
.
@ barliman: I am not sure if it was plucked out of the air. I have read Lars´words like this: ” . . . we have decided to cut costs as much as possible in other areas “
I hope these areas aren´t fellowship areas . . .
It seems there will be that sword of that greek guy called Demoklas remaining . . .June 3, 2009 at 12:34 pm #5575We shall have to wait and see. At least I’ve now ordered some of the new M guys, and while I was doing that I decided to bite the bullet and also ordered the remaining two Fellowship figures to fulfil my obligations for last year. Ouch! It still hurt, though, even at the reduced prices – came out to about £120… Not something I can afford to do every day, I can tell you!
June 3, 2009 at 1:27 pm #5576Well, Mithril now has a twitter page – this is a good start. Though there’s only two followers. (search for Prince August in Twitter)
And I was going to suggest, drywall and general grumpiness permitting, that I could probably justify a 50% price increase on a figure, but certainly not 80%.
Well, now I got what I sort of kinda wanted. Though no price increase would have been nicer.
I just did a quick calculation of how much it will cost to get myself up to date with the ol Mithrils – 500 euro! (including shipping).
Eeek.
Maybe after the house is sold, or as a house-sold-birthday-christmas-present to myself. :p

June 3, 2009 at 2:40 pm #5577This Twitter thingy seems a bit odd to me. Reminds me of that old Bree expression about “washing your socks in public”. Why tell the whole world that you’ve been dumb enough to tick off your customers?
I also like the phraseology in the latest email from Mithril, claiming a “massive discount” of 30% on the Helm’s Deep figures! Perhaps that’s why they made them so expensive in the first place, so that they could then make it sound as if they’re dropping their prices rather than putting them up?
