Huooommmm … I’m glad to hear that Mithril’s giving -in in the prices seems to allow more people to afford at least some more of the figures … rhuooommm … though Master Gildor is right saying that this only is a short-term effect that pleases customers …. hoommm … as Master O’Brian pointed out all this was only possible because of certain cuts in other areas … huom …
So, now what about those drinks you promised, Master Barliman? ….June 3, 2009 at 2:53 pm #5579What about the rumour you promised, Master Tree…?
June 3, 2009 at 3:03 pm #558015….null……
June 3, 2009 at 7:38 pm #5581Well, the response from Mithril was indeed swift and welcome, so it’s nice to know they listen to the core customers. Now, I feel that I should encourage this discourse by placing an order for the Helm’s deep stuff, and maybe catch up on a few others. I’m in the same boat as Gavin, waaaay behind what I can currently afford!
June 3, 2009 at 8:31 pm #5582I was happy to see Mithril prominently displayed on a miniatures website (Miniature Heroes).
This kind of thing is great advertising (as long as enough people see it).
See link below.

June 4, 2009 at 1:54 am #5583You know guys, I hate to say this, but I may not be able to keep collecting these great miniatures anymore.
I am hitting on hard times right now and I don’t see an end in sight. I so want to keep getting miniatures, but don’t have the cash flow to allow that! I need to feed my family first and have a home to live, so I may stop collecting. I am glad that the prices went down, but it still isn’t enough for me. I will keep posting what minis I do have when they are painted, but I don’t really know how much longer I can keep up with all of you.
Maybe things might change for me, but I really have to be realistic about my life right now.Jason
June 4, 2009 at 4:30 am #5584Jason – thanks for sharing that. In today’s times collecting is truly a luxury. Life is very cyclical, so hopefully things will get back to where you want them to be and you’ll be able to collect again. You sound like your priorities are in the right place. Your family is lucky to have you.
In the meanwhile, keep on painting! And keep on posting.
George
June 4, 2009 at 7:22 am #5585… and keep your collection, otherwise one day when times are better you would regret it. -Ben
June 4, 2009 at 7:23 am #5586I repeat George’s and protozeus’ thoughts, keep on painting and posting; collect when you can; sell only if you have to.
June 4, 2009 at 7:28 am #5587Alternatively, get rid of the family and indulge yourself…
June 4, 2009 at 7:30 am #5588As long as you are here Barli, so late at night, I’ll take another ale.
June 4, 2009 at 7:33 am #5589Late at night? I think you’re on the wrong side of the counter., my itinerant friend. It’s early morning here in Bree.
June 4, 2009 at 7:37 am #5590Jason, stop buy for a while but don´t forget to paint. When better times return, you can resume the purchase. But above all, don´t leave this forum. The economic crisis doesn´t have to reach out to friends …..
June 4, 2009 at 2:02 pm #5591Don’t worry Jason, it isn’t a requirement to buy all Mithrils to hang out here.
June 4, 2009 at 2:29 pm #5592That makes me kinda sad, Jason. You are a great man. But I agree to George and Ben totally. We won´t loose you. That´s for sure !
Remember, you have to inform us about your great Helm´s Deep project and all the other works in progress you are not aware at present . . . but tomorrow . . .
As far as I am concerned I rebuild my complete range the third time . . .June 4, 2009 at 3:07 pm #5593Three times? Wow. That must require stamina! – no to mention determination.
June 4, 2009 at 3:26 pm #5594I agree with George Ben and all the others too Jason
there is no necessity to buy, to be a collector and mithril fan
You are there, you share your passion, you have your collection and painting times
I too, soon -all too soon I fear- will have to make choices between Mithril and my family but that does not mean things cannot change in the future… besides , there will be promotional sales, there will be, one day, an end to this economic crisis… and also maybe Mithril will have found more customers and will lower their prices again so just focus on what is essential : family, and life, health etc. that’s important.
As for Gold Fellowship, I remind that the “contract” mentionning we have to buy 9 out of 12 figurines a year was suspended and we have no obligation at the moment as gf members… so that we can afford to make a pause if need be
June 4, 2009 at 4:00 pm #5595I thought we were still obliged to buy six figures per annum? I certainly haven’t heard otherwise.

I quote Michael :3-19-2009 at 18:49, whikless wrote:Hi. Could I quickly ask about figure amounts. You know how you have to buy 6 a year. say you buy
3 double packs will that count?Michael Answer, on 3-20-2009 :
Due to being behind in releases we are currently not enforcing this part of the club policy. However the rules do not count duplicates.Since nothing has been said since that date I consider this is still true: the rule still exists but is currently not enforced…
June 4, 2009 at 6:25 pm #5598Fair enough. But I wish I’d noticed that – I could have saved myself a bit of money… I wonder why they’ve not actually broadcast that decision more widely?
