I received a handful of Mithril miniatures in middle school as I was discovering role-playing games (and long after I’d discovered my love of Middle-Earth). I collected more as pocket change permitted and then a number of years went by where I left the hobby behind. Now I’m looking to finally get around to finishing painting those I have, collecting some new (and old) pieces, and enjoying the fellowship of the community!Be welcome to us, dear lord, Faramir…. show us some painting figures… when you’ll be ready to do that, I will left few coins in bartender hands, and you get something to drink, when you’re passing…. cheers…
January 11, 2016 at 11:38 am #33857Well – a presentation is in order, as I understand it, so here goes
I am currently going on my 33 year on this planet, many of which have been spent as a nerd.
Mainly in the fields of roleplaying games, comic books, CCG’s, miniatures and boardgames.Quite fitting, my first experience with Tolkien was The Hobbit (apart from the first volume of the old comic book), shortly followed by The Lord of the Rings, and a few years later came Silmarillion. Having finished The Hobbit, my eldest brother gave me MERP 2nd edition, and despite it being many years since I played it last, that book still holds a special place in my heart. It have later been followed by a lot more books for the system, as well as books for loads of other systems
The same brother also introduced me to MECCG, a game we have spent many hours playing – still got a bunch of extra cards for that game somewhereI jumped onto the hype caused by the movies, and bought the core-box for the miniature game from GW – still have the rules, and I think they have some great elements for skirmish games, though the miniatures got sold a few years later…
I also played Deciphers CCG, though I still think MECCG is the better game
And I bought the core book for Deciphers LOTR RPG, though that was kind of a mistake, imho…At some point prior to the movies, I also picked up my first Mithril miniature. I had looked a lot at them in different stores, but hadn’t had the money for them, or wanted to buy something else. But that day, I picked up a Witchking of Angmar, from the limited set, with a dream of one day getting the rest. The dream still lives, and thus the ‘old boy’ is laying in the closet with all of my other minis, still in his box, waiting patiently…
A few years ago, I encountered a guy selling a lot of old miniatures, among those, a huge collection of Mithril models, which I quickly bought, and sadly, that is what brings me here
I’ve had those minis for years, even sold a few of the spare ones from time to time, but now I finally have to realise, that I’ll never find a use for them, as I have tons of other minis I would also like to paint (I’m kind of a hoarder, so there are a lot of other stuff in the office/nerd room as well ). Thus it is, with a heavy heart, time to try and find a new home for my collection. I’ve already tried on Facebook and a few other places, with no luck, so I hope there is a chance in hereThat’s short(-ish) introduction to me, and my experiences with Tolkiens world – I hope you’ve enjoyed it
January 11, 2016 at 7:18 pm #33871Welcome Salun, I hope you’ll find a nice place for your Mithril’s, I think it’s the proper place to find one

January 12, 2016 at 6:47 am #33875Welcome Salun,

January 12, 2016 at 1:28 pm #33888Likewise!
January 17, 2016 at 3:21 am #33937Hello salun, this is a wonderful place for all those who love Mithril and Tolkien. We have come from many bckgrounds: MERP gamers, diorama builders, painters, collectors, war gamers, etc.; some also enjoy MECCG and the figures and games of other companies.
Mostly here at MMP we are able to share ideas about collecting and painting, trade/buy/sell figures among ourselves, share news, and hang out at Barliman’s Prancing Pony.
Hopefully you keep a few of your Mithrils and paint them. If you do there is a gallery here that you can post them to.
January 17, 2016 at 12:05 pm #33941Welcome, Master Salun.!!!!
July 17, 2016 at 8:12 pm #34753Hello!
Despite of my etruscan (nick)name, I love Tolkien’s book.
When I was a kid, my father, who first introduced me to Tolkien’s world, took me to a famous shop in Milan (Avalon/Stratelibri) and used to buy some figures for me. Recently I’m back to my old hobby (painting minis) and I decided to improve my collection.
Compared to other recent release, I still prefer Mithril design, that keeps indipendence from the movie ‘standards’.
Cheers!July 17, 2016 at 9:45 pm #34754Welcome ‘aboard’, You may want to call in at the Pony sometime for a newcomer’s free drink
