Let´s give a warm welcome to Master sukhe_bator !!!!!
December 6, 2012 at 11:01 am #26148Well met,
After years of browsing this site and posting on other forums I’d like to say how inspirational all this Mithril magic is. I have been collecting LOTR related figures, or proxy historical figures to use in Middle Earth inspired wargames for many many years. Some of my best loved (and I’m ashamed to say most poorly painted minis) are about 20 Mithril Rohirrim which I collected with my pocket money in my teens. Now I’m completing my LOTR inspired armies the Riders of Rohan will returnDecember 6, 2012 at 11:09 am #26149Welcome, Master Sukhe-bator. So how well would Rohirrim do against Mongols, I wonder?
December 6, 2012 at 11:11 am #26150Not well I’m afraid – though they would make an ending worthy of song!
December 6, 2012 at 11:26 am #26153This is second new entry on this topic today… so please be welcome here Master sukhe_bator…
December 6, 2012 at 12:21 pm #26155Welcome to the greenhorns! Lets have a drink in the Pony! 😎
December 6, 2012 at 12:26 pm #26157As long as you have stables enough for this lot!
December 6, 2012 at 12:35 pm #26159Welcome Sukhe_bator. Nice unit of Rohirim!

December 6, 2012 at 12:52 pm #26164You should see my Haradrim army – though it is rather heretical to say not a single Mithril mini amongst them.
December 6, 2012 at 1:37 pm #26169Er, actually, there’s only a couple of Mithril officers in mine too. The Mithril Haradrim were just too limited, too rare and consequentily too expensive when I started putting my Harad army together. Nor has the situation changed very much since.

Best regards from Madrid, Spain.December 6, 2012 at 4:14 pm #26179Barliman,
My Haradrim are drawn from a host of proxy Ancient and Medieval Middle Eastern ranges;
Perry Miniatures Ansar/Beja (Far Harad), A&A and Gripping Beast Sassanid Persians & Moorish cavalry, with Crusader, Gripping Beast and Black Tree Design Arabs and Moors (Infantry), with A&A Achaemenid Persian Immortals and archers, and Foundry, Perry and Victrix Syrian/Eastern Auxiliary archers (Militia archers). There’s even a Salute convention free St. George figure (Copplestone I think) as a Haradrim commander.
Not to forget the 10 heavily converted African elephants as armoured Mumakil with 5 men crews and Aventine mahouts !December 6, 2012 at 4:24 pm #26180That’s pretty mixed. Mine are a mixture of Perrymins, Foundry, Black tree/Harlequin, Copplestone, GW and Gripping Beast, so very simiular in many respects. I’m using the GW movie Mumaks, because they have the colossal size and gravitas that Tolkien’s description implies – the Mithril Mumaks are nice, but unconvincingly tiny by comparison! Anyway, enough of such banter here. We should really be talking about this sort of thing in the Taproom rather than here.
December 6, 2012 at 5:47 pm #26183Warm welcome to you Sukhe_bator. Very nice rohirims…still some painting to achieve
January 12, 2013 at 11:55 pm #26740Just registered for the site.
My name is Kai.
I live in Utah, USA.
I have been collecting Lord of the Rings miniatures since the 1970’s and have been collecting Mithril miniatures since the early 1990’s.
My LOTR miniatures collection includes old Minifigs, Der Kriegspiellers, Grenadier, Heritage, Ral Partha, Harlequin, Archive, and other manufacturers.
I haven’t really done any dioramas. I mostly use the miniatures for gaming.
I have a web page devoted to Middle Earth miniature gaming here: (If you look closely, you might see some Mithril Miniatures.)
