Hello everybody. I’m a new member I would like to excuse me for my bad english , but I present me :
I’m a french woman, I’ve 40 years old, I’m married and have a boy ‘s 7 years old, and I live in France, near Futuroscope. My dog’s name is Frodo……. and I don’t know how put my photo on this site……. sorry
I’ve buy my first Mithril’s item in 1988, after few years i’ve stop my collection : no job, no money and no time to continue.
I’ve decide to take back my collection last year and buy some figurines on Ebay and others. There’s no shop in Poitiers (where I live)to buy Mithril. After some search on internet I’ve found this forum. It’s a pity it’s in english… I hope you inderstand me
I’m happy to find peoples who knows Mitril and with who I can speak about it
Good byeMay 5, 2011 at 4:55 pm #17227Welcome Mistress Sevlag
May 5, 2011 at 5:05 pm #17228Welcome indeed, Mistress Seviag. And I understand you perfectly. Embarassingly, I wouldn’t understand you if it was a French site (there are no French-speakers in Bree, so I can’t practice. At least, that’s my excuse…)
May 5, 2011 at 5:13 pm #17229Bienvenue Mistress Sevlag. I suggest you join us in the pony. Barliman will offer you a free drink !
May 5, 2011 at 6:10 pm #17233Bienvenue encore!
For posting pictures here: very easy indeed. At the very top of the site you find “upload image” .
Just choose a file as it is explained, press “submit” and copy the file name into the field.
Let´s have a try!
And you have to know: all gentle men around here!May 5, 2011 at 8:19 pm #17239mmhh, we are four french people around here lately if I am not mistaken (milo, faramir, sevlag and myself) and even more german people…. and still some spanish members …
I long ago decided to have the MMP in english only but that was mainly because english language was not really a problem for any of us…. it appears that some people around have problem with it (being german… or french… not fluent at all with english)I wonder if adding localised threads here… in addition to the ones already existing on the official boards at our request… I am not really into having information in different places , discussing is ok but posting important things such as ebay offers, trade offers, announcements etc…. it would require quite some work to have it in every language
your opinion?

… welcome hare also french lady….
May 6, 2011 at 3:48 am #17244Hello, and Welcome Sevlag!
May 6, 2011 at 6:25 am #17245For the question of Gildor on french Forum, I think it’s not essential because Personaly I don’t very well speak English but I understand it and Google makes the translation when it’s too much complicated. So for posting important things just stay in english but for discussion like MMP who’s who and in the pony when there are french people here maybe from time to time we can speak french??? but in the same forum, No???
It is my opinion at time when Frenchie who badly speaks EnglishMay 6, 2011 at 6:59 am #17246indeed sevlag, (actually we already do that at times… which sometimes makes master Barliman our dear inkeeper very upset lol )
May 6, 2011 at 8:59 am #17248…I only object because if you took a poll, I suspect that far more MMP regulars speak or at least understand English than speak or understand French or any other language, and it’s therefore fairer to everyone if English is used so that a greater number of people can comprehend. If this site is to continue to be international, then English really is the only language that can be used. Look upon it as Westron or Common Speech.
I can understand written French after a fashion, and a little German, but not enough to participate in a discussion; I certainly can’t construct an intelligible sentence in French, alas – I only wish I could, but not all of us have brains that can cope with thinking in several languages, though I’m not sure why. But then, not all of us can paint skilfully, or write music. All of us have brains that work differently (when they work at all).
As an indication of my linguistic inadequacy, I only need to mention that I got 3% in the final French exam I ever took at school…Need I say more?
I suspect that many other members would admit to the same limitations if pressed.

So keep reading and telling us more about your mithrils, no need to be talkative as our wisest ent.May 6, 2011 at 2:24 pm #17252First of all a dear welcome to Mistress Sevlag
I can confirm what Master Barliman said, “I understand you perfectly.”As for you, Master Gildor, I think it’s not necessary to install any other threads in different languages here at all. Not only that this would mean spending a hell lot of time on it, it also would make this site confusing, I’m afraid.
On the other hand there’s no one around here who ever complained about wrong grammar or spelling, right? – But this is a bit out off topic here. I just wanted to answer.May 6, 2011 at 4:39 pm #17257faramir60 wrote:Hahaha, great picture indeed !! 😆 😆But, what do you think about changing your shoes ?
the shoes are an essential part of my successful lawyer outfit — the smell dazes and distracts the opposing party in court.
madame sevlag, soyez la bienvenue.
May 6, 2011 at 5:02 pm #17261It´s incredible!. ´Who´s who` was usually a desert place. Lately it is a place with more traveler…..
Welcome, Mistress Sevlag!!
Now Mrs. Wendy and Mrs. Wirilómë are not alone
Ah! Please, English is a good language and certainly the most widespread (but sometimes I need too the Google translator)
May 6, 2011 at 6:10 pm #17263That Google translator system is pretty good, isn’t it. Even works quite well for Japanese!
May 6, 2011 at 6:31 pm #17265…. all of us sometimes use google translator… so it is not so important to know perfect english to share your time on our precious small community… anyway all middle earth races also speak different languages ………and in final we have happy end….ing…

many people, many coins in cash registers in our favorite inn…. and with that our famous innkeeper can fill the supply… for us and for all on our new middle earth friends….
So this is good for all… but for mithril friendship first….
See you all in our favorite inn….
May 6, 2011 at 7:05 pm #17269I’d better get back there…..
May 6, 2011 at 8:01 pm #17272Bienvenue !
On the topic of languages, the idea I told Gildor is creating a new sub-forum (at the bottom below “The Art Gallery of Mayor Samwise” for example) with one thread for each language, like the german had on the official board (in the golden fellowship sub-forum I think?).
There could be a topic for French, a topic for German, a topic for Spanish and so on. Those that understand English but don’t want to speak it could socialize in their own language in those thread.
Of course it would mean more German to French translation for me when Gildor gets curious but nothing’s perfect heh? ;pI see Milo is from Carcassone, it’s so close from here, we should see each other one day.
