Master Cameosis or Master Shady…. will enjoy the view of this photo. But what is it … stone giant….. with the nice hobbit family under the Misty Mountains…
July 29, 2011 at 8:59 am #18996This used to be “Le géant des Pyrénées” displayed on “Le Col du Tourmalet”, build for “Le Tour de France” cycling race.
THe sculptor took it back 5 years ago and it is in his garden now. Just crazy and very well executed. And it’s true you feel like a hobbit when standing near its legs

… after he’s saw by the cyclists, riding is rapidly accelerating. They drive faster than the wind blows.. this is like psychological doping…. 😆

August 12, 2011 at 8:27 pm #19445and welcome here!!
pictures of LOTR figurines from other collections would be quite appreciated too, as I am curious (not GW but VERY old ones from Grenadier and Citadel mostly
August 12, 2011 at 8:31 pm #19446Sounds like you have the bug in a big way, Master Quendi, and hey, that’s quite a list of Tolkien-connected minis you’re collecting, though you haven’t mentioned one range – the “Mythical Earth” (ahem…) range that Minifigs turned out in the mid-70s that vey quickly fetched a “cease and desist” order from Tolkien Enterprises within about six months of their launch, and were quickly withdrawn. They still turn up occasionally on eBay (there are some listed at the moment), usually at rock-bottom prices because they’re a bit naff. But if you’re dedicated to collecting all the LOTR ranges you can find they shouldn’t be overlooked.
Anyway, hope you find all the help, encouragement and enthusiasm you need somewhere here. Just avoid the Pony when we’re cleaning the wargskin rugs – they bite.
August 12, 2011 at 9:01 pm #19447….ouch… very nice to see all those miniatures on one place…. and 2025 as deadline for completion it is not so bad… only 13+5/12 (in years) from today

The designer (rest his soul – he passed away many years ago) had never read the books and had no idea what he was supposed to be doing. The lion-headed balrog was his most infamous abomination.
August 12, 2011 at 10:08 pm #19450by minifigs you mean Heritage? I did not know this range but … honestly.. I don’t think I miss a lot of things in terms of quality…
as for Grenadier there isa big problem between me and ALL “slota” figurines… but well well, this topic derivates into something else and should be discussed at your place master Butterburr, not in the who’s who section
August 12, 2011 at 10:45 pm #19451For sure, Master Quendil is no Orc! And for sure there were a lot in the last time.
So- welcome on bord, Master Quendil. Nice to have you around here!PS: oh yes- Penzance- I remember when I visit Devon with my parents in the late 70ies.
We took also a trip to tis town . . . a beautiful county.August 13, 2011 at 6:34 am #19456Gildor Inglorion wrote:This topic derivates into something else and should be discussed at your place master Butterburr, not in the who’s who sectionI’ve transferred the “figure ranges” conversation over to the Pony now, and ask everyone else to do the same (it’s best to keep the Elf happy.)
August 14, 2011 at 1:34 pm #19475Welcome Quendil, and I will come in the pony to share a drink with.
August 14, 2011 at 2:05 pm #19478So, that’s one scrumpy with two straws, is it?
August 31, 2011 at 9:52 pm #19969Nice collection, Quendil! Very impressive!
September 1, 2011 at 6:59 am #19972This is great… lot’s of encapsulated treasures…. I see many very valuable mithril specimens…
September 1, 2011 at 8:00 am #19973The painting desk do look very professional indeed, Master Dave! I like photos of that kind!
You are also using milliput. This is certainly the right decision!
Two things for you to do: set these mithril figures free and paint them!!!!!Nevertheless, off topic I would say. Maybe you should start a thread called: Quendil works
December 1, 2011 at 3:40 pm #21962Hello
My name is Thijl from Belgium (uttermost south part even if my first name is sounding flemish by my mother – Belgian stories).
I drop on my my first Tolkien book, Bilbo 30 years ago, a long time before the Tolkien new age. So deeply that years later I wrote for the end of my college years a thesis about Good and Evil in Tolkien art (a work of poor quality I wrote at 18).
I am collecting mithril since 88, my university years. My collection is nearly complete, only missing the two special gifts figures, 2 prototypes and 2 Chrismas. I purchased some 15 years ago directly from Prince August (yes they sold them directly to Mithril followers) about 100 master figures (the one used for creating the moulds) with certificates.
On every Sunday, I search in “brocante” and “vide grenier” (do not know the words in English) miniatures and old edition of Tolkien books.
In real life, I am a father of two girls, Aygalistelle and Tabatha, in couple with Magali. I work as IT Development and research Manager for an audit firm (PwC), play RPG one a month and walk my very nice area.
Thijl
