An Elf and a barkeeper- both wise men. i took also away my dedication and it seems it could help.
not “just” but again another one leaving because of certain reasons…
the die-hard fans leaving…..
pippin fighting a troll?
wasn’ t this a suggestion in times long gone?if only the prices would be fair, mithril would surely be a favorite for many collectors…..
thanks gildor for sharing this pic with us! you are bringing back motivation!i have just put the first bid…
…to overcome my lack of motiation and frustration i am thinking about participating…
Gildor,
you are one of the finest………
nice idea, gavin, like it.
@gildor: i understand you very well and it is the same for me: i am dedicated to middle-earth.
black tree design, formerly harlequin miniatures has solved the problem of not using the trademarked names of tolkiens work (after they lost the license) by changing the names slightly, so that you can easily identify, what thing is mentioned: e.g. men of the west/gondor; mean of the east plain/men of the westfold; wizards tower/isengard and so on. chris can do this easily and names like ‘northern rangers’ could not be trademarked . that would not solve our concern that a mini HAS to be named properly to attract us, but well, that’s one way……all the best

I am too frustrated about how many efforts some nice guys like Gildor put into keeping Mithril going on and how very good ideas are twisted to nonsense…..(e.g.: ‘vote for something you do not know how it looks like, but pay 22,- for each of 10 figures you have preorderd)..(it is like buy a car and let us surprise you if it is a Beetle or a Rolls Royce)….
and I still like to delete my posts sometimes….
Gildor Inglorion wrote:mmh maybe not the right place… but Estel, if you are around, do you know anything abotu the Ring.Con (october 14-16) this year? I wonder if, like 2007 there could be some mithril representation, as you participated a lot in 2007…Hi Gildor,
I am around now and want to answer. At first here is the link with an English version of the website available, which is nice for non-German speakers: http://www.ringcon.de/
The RingCon was very nice to make big shows until 2007. Some of the side as well as the main actors of the movies visited the convention, dedicated to the movies. A decline in interest, public and active parties was to be realized from 2006 on. The fans were not so engaged anymore and the con was flooded more and more by “pirates of the carribean”, “harry potters”, vampires and so on. That also meant a change in visitors, who became more and more younger and the interest in Tolkien-related products and commercial products declined, which was visible as the “medieval market ” where to buy Lord of the Rings books, figures and so on melted down to a handful of traders.
When we started doing exhibitions we had lots of friends who wanted to help us to be close to the actors. The freelancers’ interest declined as well. When we started doing exhibitions it was not se easy to convince the organizers, that we have something worth to present and it was hard to get accepted and do get a room! After 2006/07 more and more rooms were empty without any activity in there.
In general you can say, that the great feelings you had being at the RingCon and atmosphere and the great stuff nerds created have become more and more rare. Lastly the Con changed palce and moved from Fulda to Bonn (Bonn is much more far away from us thant Fulda). All in all this was one of the reasons why me and my wife decided to stop our engagement at conventions. Nice events which took lots of energy, a move of half of the household and gave us lots of fun beside the possibility to see our miniatures collection and Haradrim tent with interieur presented. Stopping these activities made us sad but was necessary as we wanted to show-off something for Tolkien-fans and support Mithril by doing these exhibitions.
As stated by Tolwen the MittelerdeCon in Rodgau seems to be a good place to exhibit something. I think it is more important to send tabletop and miniature collectors websites newsletters so that they can say, Hey, new minitures around from Mithril.
ALL THE BEST

Where is the chair and the telescope from, if I may ask?you may ask, my friend. it is from numenor, which means totally scratch build from platic cardboard and tubes.
concerning the ultra-whiteness of saruman: the orcs have used some new washing powder… or let me try this: in the moments when saruman turned off his disguise and showed his real face, his robe glowed white than…..
ah no, it is my old problem of taking photos, to me still some kind of mystery and magic.Turambar wrote:Ah- your grandma also have a garden . . . 😆no it is mine (which means lot of work in spring summer and autumn)

Just another scratch built scene. Maybe I will take some more pictures.

I was inspired of the works of my friends C. and D. to take some photos of some dioramas I have created some time ago.
Also to fight the prejudice of being an army-collector only.
Unfortunately I am not a photographer and I hate taking photos because of the bad quality. This one is one of my favourites as the pavement is something I really like together with the composition at all.

I have done some work to create a Morgul host. I thought ORcs should have some armoury, so I created arm bracers and mail to protect the warrior- armour always needs some Orcis style, so I tried to give them a a used look and created spike-like sharp edges and some grim faces:
