Thank you Master Milo for your kind comments
It is a shame that the Rammas Echor has never had an outing to a convention. One was planned but fell throughBarliman,
My Haradrim are drawn from a host of proxy Ancient and Medieval Middle Eastern ranges;
Perry Miniatures Ansar/Beja (Far Harad), A&A and Gripping Beast Sassanid Persians & Moorish cavalry, with Crusader, Gripping Beast and Black Tree Design Arabs and Moors (Infantry), with A&A Achaemenid Persian Immortals and archers, and Foundry, Perry and Victrix Syrian/Eastern Auxiliary archers (Militia archers). There’s even a Salute convention free St. George figure (Copplestone I think) as a Haradrim commander.
Not to forget the 10 heavily converted African elephants as armoured Mumakil with 5 men crews and Aventine mahouts !Excellent advice. In the past I’ve also tried altering the galloping pose so the front hooves touch the base plate and glueing them in place. When I revisit these minis I will consider all options. Now my expertise in such things has improved I was considering reestablishing the lost support to the front legs with a thinner wire as you suggested. As long as the end result does not detract too much from the minis I’ll consider anything!
You should see my Haradrim army – though it is rather heretical to say not a single Mithril mini amongst them.
As long as you have stables enough for this lot!
Arthadan and Turambar,
well met! I only hope I can do justice to my venerable Mithril Rohirrim so they can join the fray with my other LOTR armies on the fields of Pelennor. Unfortunately in a moment of teenage rashness eons ago I clipped the supports from the front legs of my horses. Now years later they have buckled and several rear legs have broken under the combined weight of horse and rider. I now have to consider adding clear plastic struts or other supports to keep them from drooping – have you any suggestions?Not well I’m afraid – though they would make an ending worthy of song!
Well met,
After years of browsing this site and posting on other forums I’d like to say how inspirational all this Mithril magic is. I have been collecting LOTR related figures, or proxy historical figures to use in Middle Earth inspired wargames for many many years. Some of my best loved (and I’m ashamed to say most poorly painted minis) are about 20 Mithril Rohirrim which I collected with my pocket money in my teens. Now I’m completing my LOTR inspired armies the Riders of Rohan will returnTurambar,
An excellent job as ever. I have just joined this worthy forum, though I confess to having only some 20 or so Mithril Rohirrim amongst my extensive LOTR collections. Still this forum has always been an inspiration to me and Mithril were amongst the very first LOTR figures I collected back in the day.
I cannot claim the serpent motif, since like you all I have been inspired by Tolkein artists and historical designs over the years,
but I am nevertheless flattered…
