January 10, 2009 at 11:54 am #4055. . . seems to be a clown somewhere in your breakfast, this morning, Master Tree . . .
January 10, 2009 at 12:30 pm #4056None … but hasty you are giving a comment before I started … oh, by the way, noon has passed a while ago now seriously again:
January 10, 2009 at 1:18 pm #4057The first figure of the “lost army” Mw347 (“Armies of Saruman”) appeared late in 2004 on Ebay. It was a single pikeman (as far as I can recall it was C6A).
After quite a while the “Half-orc command” was offered (Oct.05). Then there was news about the number of castings, “… there were only about 30 test castings of each of the Half-orcs ever made … far fewer than the M16.”
That “Half-orc command” was based on the “Saruman’s Army” article which appeared in Tengwar no.2
The last set of the ‘Angrenost Guard’ went away early in 2006. Before in Febr. 2006 those four
pikemen appeared as a set. In June 2006 a set of “Half-orcs Swordsmen and archers” appeared (4 figures).
About one year later (March 07) there were those “Half-orcs of Saruman”(three spearmen and a swordsman).
In the end it became clear and is confirmed that two figures of the army went lost.
The Angrenost Guardsman and the C5C bowman.
So, for those who are interested in this matter:January 10, 2009 at 1:26 pm #4058Half-orc command:

January 10, 2009 at 2:12 pm #4064So, that’s it … and that’s all there is.
I do hope that these pictures might help those who want to know about one of the “lost armies” ’93/94.
January 10, 2009 at 2:15 pm #4065There was not a clown in my breakfast, rita.de.
… not even a crown ….January 10, 2009 at 10:20 pm #4070mmmmmh-not hasty, more wondering, why the pics suddenly has disappeared. Didn´t finished the downloads . . .
But I can see clearly now: you have made photos in very high quality indeed. That is very nice. Waiting people will be requited !
When I compare all your different groups of photos I can recognize a commonality.
But, Master Tree, can you say what happened with the C3D !?January 11, 2009 at 9:58 am #4072Sorry, I’ll correct that later. I think I got confused with all those pics.
January 11, 2009 at 7:35 pm #4073Master Theobald, all yours figures are undercoating?
My collection isn´t complete, I am missing 3 of the 20 figures Mw347 , but all my figures are without undercoat.
Is it possible that The Man had some series with undercoat and others not?January 11, 2009 at 9:03 pm #4074well all my mw347 are also undercoated erchamion… if that may help
January 12, 2009 at 5:59 am #4076Hello master Erchamion,
Did you buy the minis from the man, or where did you get them from?
January 12, 2009 at 8:29 am #4077Directly from The Man……
January 12, 2009 at 3:04 pm #4078The ents recall of the sale dates agrees with my records nicely. Here’s an expansion of that information, if it is at all helpful.
February 2004 E-bay sale of first Mw 347 half-orc, the C3A spearman
October 2005 E-bay sale of three casting Half-orc command, D8A, C2, C4A
Early 2006 E-bay sale of two Angrenost command figs, CA1 (mounted) C1 (foot)
February 2006 E-bay sale of four pikemen, C6A, C6B, C6C, C6D
June 2006 E-bay sale of two archers, C5B, C5D; and two swordsmen, C8B, C8C
March 2007 Final e-bay sale of three spearmen, C3B, C3C, C3D; and one swordsman,
C8DThese three castings were either sold earlier as single figs on E-bay or given away by Chris as gifts; C3A Spearman, C5A archer (mohawk) and C8A swordsman. They are the hardest to find if you’re missing them. The two lost castings are xxx? Angrenost guardsman and the C5C archer, supposedly loading an arrow.
So 22 figures in all, 20 known to exist and 17 of those sold in groups on E-bay between February 2004 and March 2007. All of mine are undercoated as well, btw
January 12, 2009 at 3:10 pm #4079Well, Erchamion, as you can see all the figures I have wear that grey undercoat, though there has been a discussion about the shade of grey as it is a little bit different from the regular undercoat used by Mithril (but also this has changed with the relase of the last figures as there have been complaints about the quality of the Swan Knights undercoating).
I received my miniatures from The Man directly and I really don’t know if there are sets without undercoating – though I cannot imagine. That’s strange.
One thing’s for sure: the Mw346 Dwarves all have no coating at all. Chris announced that in his entry on Ebay when he offered them. He didn’t do that with the figures of the Mw347 as far as I can recall.
If you want me to find out, Erchamion, I could try to find out about that. -
