Because some of information contained in this post should not be shared in public, I put it in Angrenost. I plan to use this new thread to inform about “backoffice” evolution of Gold Fellowship production/releases taken from Chris information unofficially, in the limit of what Chris allows me to share, indeed… but what Chris allows me to share is sometimes more than what Mithril is willing to…. and thus should not completly public….
Well, though I definitly need to update the database (still at MS599, which is, after all, not so long ago…) I updated the chronology in the Prancing Pony section
I asked Michael what happened to Forlong the fat (since they decided to release the Old woman before him)
Also I take it from Chris that all figurines up to Merien of Dol Amroth are almost sculpted (except the orc female which had a small problem and is being resculpted, and is working on Bandobras is being sculpted at the moment) so finally, Chris’ job is up to date until May. I can’t disclose any pics, but I can assure you that Merien and Sangarunya are wonderful, and the last one is very respectful of his MERP description and Angus McBride illustrations.
Please note that Bandobras will certainly be a vignette , as the figurine should depict Bandobras mounted, fighting Golfimbul !
it should be epic (and hopefully not as expensive as a big vignette… after all, it is just a hobbit and an orc, ok with a horse but still… )As a side note, about Kickstarter ideas and 3D design/printing, Chris is considering those options more seriously than Lars,
actually , I was surprised, but he has taken some courses in Zbrush software and is trying at the moment to reproduce his own style of handmade sculpting, rendered in 3D. According to him, the software is very intuitive and he has good hopes to achieve his goals in 3D , to remain true to his own style in the end (but he is still in a learning phase, so no release or production yet)August 8, 2014 at 9:29 am #31061Because some of information contained in this post should not be shared in public, I put it in Angrenost. Thanks a lot for all these precious informations.August 8, 2014 at 4:56 pm #31069I keep fingers crossed. Thank you Gildor.
August 9, 2014 at 8:38 am #31077I hope that Forlong is taking longer as it will take more clay to sculpt his large girth! 😆
Interesting to hear that Chris is dabbling in Zbrush.
August 9, 2014 at 7:10 pm #31080Michael answered me that there was indeed a changed chronology, Forlong should be released in September, and the Haradan Standard Bearer should also be released before Forlong.
August 10, 2014 at 5:13 am #31082Good information Gildor, Thank you!
August 10, 2014 at 9:17 am #31083Thanks for the News Gildor
Gildor Inglorion wrote:mmhhh 3D printing means you have to produce the figurine using a 3D program which is a technology of infographism and 3D design… this is not sculpting at all and not craftsmanship at all…
[large]If the purpose is to involve 3D DESIGN , I am completly…… AGAINST.[/large]:D:D
When I visited PA on April lat year Michael said the process for 3D will start soon and I started a topic on July.
I still think 3D is also art and will improve time to production while decrease costs.I am happy Bandobras to be a vignette. I asked Michael and Chris to be a mounted figure on which they agree.
August 10, 2014 at 9:53 am #31085I also hope that “the new technologies” will decrease prices…. but I doubt… and any new vignette is expected and welcome… AT least from my side….
August 10, 2014 at 10:00 am #31086Mornedhel I am still quite sceptical about 3D design…
– if figurines remain in metal but only the master is 3D printed, fine… (besides that solves problem of master lifetime) ok for that
– if the 3D design is made by Chris, and he keeps his “style” , in 3D, well, it’s also fine with me, but otherwise I remain against.August 10, 2014 at 11:58 am #31087Master Gildor, the 3D print (1rst Master) would be like the sculpt of Chris which is lost after you make the Mastermould where you cast the “masters” for the production moulds from. So the lifetime of these Masters will not change!
August 10, 2014 at 12:46 pm #31089oh yes it changes dramaticaly master Caster because the “sculpt of Chris” which is destroyed, here in 3D design it would certainly be destroyed too but …
… you can reprint it exactly the same just after since the true “source” is a computer file. that’s why I call lifetime. In this case, the “original” is eternal…
August 11, 2014 at 9:00 am #31092You are right there Master Gildor. Of course you can reprint it and copy the file as ofter as needed.Hmm didn’t enter my mind lol! You see, I am the man at the tools not the one at the PC. It seems Iam just not getting around to update myself with new technologie.
August 27, 2014 at 1:38 pm #31150I like next release very much 😎
[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/553_ms605.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/553_ms605.jpg[/imgz]August 27, 2014 at 3:47 pm #31151I think that Chris did a fantastic job on the Haradrim Standard bearer. The armor is perfect, the headgear is great, the pose will allow me to make a conversion out of one of my spares.
August 27, 2014 at 7:28 pm #31152yeah, great looking…. still, when I see this picture, I’m forced to say….
Yet another Haradrim…
August 28, 2014 at 6:31 pm #31160Nice! I would have prefered the bands on the standard flowing on the wind instead of covering the detail on the standard. One thing I am not keen about about Mithril range in general is the uniformity of every single race and culture (even Beornings!).
August 28, 2014 at 6:34 pm #31161I think it’s the lack of M-series that causes such criticism. – Anyway, M-series are past and gone. As for Haradrims I would always have preferred a series of 12 figures in an M-Series, and not being sculpted as single figures in the MS-range.
August 29, 2014 at 11:15 am #31164I completely agree with that!
September 11, 2014 at 11:57 am #31182I like this new release as the pose is original:
[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/553_ms607-dunhere.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/553_ms607-dunhere.jpg[/imgz]MS606 Forlong the fat is delayed.
