Great Master Thingol. I like the all coloured scheme and rendering very much.
The way you improved the base is very nice also.May 8, 2012 at 7:04 pm #24106Ummmm. Lot of skilled people around…..
May 8, 2012 at 8:26 pm #24108And me, still waiting for my order from 19/4…. Getting angry Ā¬Ā¬
May 9, 2012 at 7:02 am #24109Very good job Master Thingol Very impressive
I can’t buy it : too expensive unfortunatelyMay 9, 2012 at 8:08 am #24110Master Thingol- this is a very good effect to “let” the metal-parts being metal parts! ()
Covering the base with another material is also a good idea, as for the original “stone design” is a bit . . .
You know what I mean.May 9, 2012 at 8:32 am #24111Very good paint job indeed, Master Thingol, and very much detailed. – As it was said before, I also like the additional natural material on the base very much. Absolutely great!
May 9, 2012 at 3:25 pm #24112Thanks dear friends… I hope we would see many great painting MS574 vignettes with or without competition…
About “stone design” … yes MAster Turambar my opinion is that stone design is “s _ _ _ t” but all other parts are more than magnificent…
May 9, 2012 at 4:25 pm #24113But mind, please, Master Thingol, that the design you wisely chose for your diorama base could not at all be casted in metal …
May 9, 2012 at 6:19 pm #24114Excellent job Master Thingol, I especially like the faded look to the black garments of Beregond and Pippin . , but the whole overall job is very well done
I will hopefully post some pictures of my finished version shortly – hopefully it won’t get disqualified – Michael did say we can make a diorama I think
May 9, 2012 at 6:31 pm #24115Thanks David, Michael did not said that you can not make diorama. He said that the MS574 concept must be unchanged… so please show us your great work…. finished… !!!!
8. Making a diorama is allowed as long as the base is not obscured and rule no.2 is not broken. Do not obscure IN ANY WAY the view of the vignette with other characters not included in this vignette.

May 10, 2012 at 11:16 am #24116I only started undercoating on base & troll…I must speed up if I want to join competition with the diorama I have in mind.

They normally extend the deadline of these competitions I think to make up for the ‘speedy’ despatch of the figures from the factory š
I would let Michael know or post it on the forum and see what happens – it is in the company’s best interest to get as many finished versions shown as possible I would have thought so that they can encourage sales.
May 10, 2012 at 6:36 pm #24118I agree that is for the company much better to extend dead line for sending pictures…. at least for marketing purposes
But, for which reason you undercoat figures…
May 10, 2012 at 7:47 pm #24119I’ve got the mini this morning… I’m going to Bretagne next week, so it will be almost imposible for me to paint it for deadline… good luck to our great painters here!

I undercoat figures to ease acrilic painting.
It’s not grey primer, it is a color based undercoat (for instance black for the troll, brown for base…). You can also say it is a 1st painting layer.May 15, 2012 at 8:02 pm #24154The Black Gate OpensWell I finally got my finger out and finished this one off . Originally there would have been about 15 trolls on it, but as the Vignette troll is smaller than the other troll releases in Mithril’s range I compromised and used the troll standard bearer and the half troll release which more or less match in size.
I suppose this gives me the option of The Black Gate Opens, part.2As this is a Gondorian line being broken it was a good excuse to use up the Dol Amroth left-overs and a spare set of Isildur at the Gladden Fields.
Iām not sure if the surrounding figures will be deemed to obscure the point of the competition, but to be honest that is a secondary consideration, I just wanted to give this vignette the setting it deserves, the rules be damned š .

May 15, 2012 at 8:12 pm #24156Great job!!!!!
May 15, 2012 at 8:19 pm #24157Excellent stuff, Master Dave – the other “small” troll types fit in extremely well. I really must get round to buying one of these vignettes myself – I’ve been waiting for a better month financially, and it still hasn’t come.
Er, one minor observation – shouldn’t Pippin’s helmet have black rather than white wings? – “a high-crowned helm with small raven-wings on either side”, says JRRT. Yes, I know – I’m being picky, but that’s me. Otherwise it’s a masterpiece as ever, though I can’t help but wonder once again where on Ea you find the room to store all these impressive dioramas, let alone display them!
May 15, 2012 at 8:24 pm #24158I love that!

They shall be changed to black Barli , glad you picked up on that as I would never have remembered it. Good job I haven’t sent them off as official entries.
The displaying of stuff is as ever somewhat a problem , but somehow I manage .
